I am extremely satisfied with all the repairs and services that Stuttgart Southwest has performed on my 2005 Porsche 911S over the last several years. Every time that I brought my car in for service Jack (the owner) explain every aspect of the repairs that needed to be performed. Never tried to oversell and prices are considerably better than the dealer. I had my car in for an oil change, broken door handle and an intermittent off Idle hesitation when rapidly pressing the throttle wide open. They were unable to find any fault code in the computer that was causing the issue. I installed a Fabspeed air intake system a while back that he thought that the intake could be causing the issue or mass airflow sensor. He suggested that I reinstall the factory intake as the aftermarket intake is great for the track but not good for daily driving and the 110° heat in Phoenix. I reinstalled the factory air intake as suggested and car is running great again. They are the best auto repair shop I ever used! read more

I can't believe no one has reviewed Stuttgart Southwest on Yelp, but I am honored to be the first. I was referred to Jack Doverspike, owner of Stuttgart Southwest, when I was trying to track down an obscure Porsche factory tool. I thought maybe he'd have a lead on where I could get one over-nighted (I think I was trying to get my 911 Carrera put back together before the Monterey Historic or something like that). When I asked him about the tool, he said, "Oh yeah, hard to get, very expensive, you'll only need it once or twice in your life, etc." and as he was showing me what it looked like, he said something like, "Oh, what the hell, just take it for the weekend ... bring it back Monday or I'll track you down." This is by no means a suggestion that Stuttgart Southwest will loan you tools ... but more of a testimony as to the character of Jack Doverspike (please don't ask him to borrow any tools ... as he may cuss you out and eject you from his shop ;^) I never had my car serviced at his shop (I am an idiotic DIYer) but knew a dozen guys who could not survive with out him and his team of professionals. P-car owners the world over rely on him for his expertise, experience and advice. There are dozens and dozens of reviews of his shop on other forums and I've yet to run across one that was negative. He _did_ conduct an honest PPI on one of my cars that was going to a guy in California. The leak down on one of the cylinders was not quite what the prospective buyer wanted it to be (though certainly not anything to be alarmed about, Jack said) but the buyer was still scared away. No big deal ... I would rather Jack maintain the impeccable reputation of his shop than try to help me sell a car. There was no question about whether he would "fudge" the numbers to my benefit (nor would I have expected him to). I can't stay enough about him and his team of professionals. You may need to make an appt. way, way in advance, but it's worth it. read more

I ran around to 9 different auto body shops and after talking with everyone I picked this place. They were not the cheapest or the most expensive. What I liked was that they were going to do the job right. My back corner panel needed to be repainted. They had my rear backseat window removed to make sure I wouldn't have any paint peeling years later. Last month I was involved in an accident from someone rearending me on the freeway. Right away I knew where I wanted to take it. My car is there now and when I get it back I will be adding some pictures. They are honest and do a great job. I have a 2008 Cayenne SUV with less than 53000 miles, Last week, I was driving in from California when my car started losing power randomly on the freeway right outside of Phoenix. Now I'm here for the delivery of my son (via surrogacy) and I love this car as it has a special bond with someone I lost, hence the reason we've kept this car for so long though it almost never gets driven and the reason I drove the car here. Being a developer, I've learned that cheap work comes back to bite you and throws you into more trouble. Being a dentist, I know that reviews should be taken with a grain of salt as some bad businesses generate or entice good reviews. When I called several people around, most didn't deal with Porsches (and I was not fully committed to taking the car to the Porsche dealer as I knew the repair bill would be several thousand and the turnaround could be long), but I was directed to Stuttgart by another mechanic and also by my own research and I'm very glad I went to them. First thing first, Jack is an amazing person and the kind of honest person that is a pleasure to deal with. He correctly guessed what was wrong with my car over the phone, asked me about my timeline and once he knew it was my son's delivery that morning, he said he would try to move me in and out real quick. I dropped the car in the morning, Arnold diagnosed and repaired the faulty fuel pump, and they also called and told me some other service issues that had not been taken care of which I authorized. They replaced the spark plugs, air filters, and oil change and had the car ready by 4 pm the same day, but I did not pick it up until the next day because I was in heaven that day with my new bundle of joy. When I went to pick up the car, the price for everything was very fair and the repairs were done correctly. I'm glad I came across Jack and Arnold last week and my son, my mom, and I all thank you guys for the honest and quality work you did. May more people stumble to you guys for their Porsche repairs. I've done business with Jack at Stuttgart Southwest since 1998. During that time, he's had many opportunities to cheat me out of thousands of dollars. Never. Happened. I'd be expecting... an engine rebuild. And get a call from a very cheery Jack, telling me the "Good news! It's only a... [insert weird German part here]." Order of magnitude less expensive. Honesty, in this case, is worth tens of thousands of dollars. I can and frequently do work on my own cars, but when it's over my head, or I have no time, they go to Jack. Now, on to the body shop. Phil is the manager there, and he's magical. Bent and broken things wind up coming out better than they were when they went in. People take their high end Porsches and Mercedes and classic cars (one was a pro baseball player's pride and joy) to him for *restoration* and *modification* - not just collision repair - and that is a HUGE difference from the run of the mill "fender knocker" place. If you have a vehicle of ANY make or model, and you really care that the vehicle gets fixed RIGHT, this is the place. If I could give Jack's shop more than 5 stars I would! I have been looking my entire life to buy an air cooled 911, particularly one from 1977. Only in the last few years has the acquisition become possible for me. During these last few years, I read reviews on the best shops in Phoenix/Tempe/Scottsdale and I found Stuttgart Southwest. I called this place at least 4 times and asked questions about prospective cars I found online or on Craigslist. EACH time, Jack, the owner, would answer all my questions, tell me his honest opinion and I never gave them an ounce of business or even met him. To a complete stranger on the phone he gave his time and actually told me what he thought at no charge...repeatedly. I was so impressed by his willingness to provide me, someone he never met, guidance, that I was adamant that when I did buy my car I would bring it to him. That was the BEST thing I could have done. I recently bought the car of my dreams and I finally got to meet Jack and his amazing team of specialists. They provided me with a four hour inspection of my car, at a very reasonable price (I know pricing because on the East Coast I used to race and pay to get air cooled Porsche race cars repaired with my brother), and gave me a completely thorough and detailed breakdown of every aspect of my car. Peace of mind has never been more of an understatement. Each member of the team met with me and told me what they thought...Cliff, John, Phil, and Jack himself. These guys are truly experts and the passion they have for Porsche comes through in their work. I purchased the car and had some work done on it (fuel lines re-done, vacuum hose to break booster fixed, clutch/915 gear box adjustment, cigarette lighter fixed, a small rubber piece re-glued to the door jam) and I could not be happier. Jack is the man. I was on a trip travelling across the United States in my 1980 Porsche 924 turbo. When we arrived in Pheonix the car was acting up after driving for 13 hours and bombing it down the mountain range after Holbrook at 100 miles an hour, and we didn't get pulled over or else I'd probably be in jail right now. Anyway, we realized that we had a fuel leak coming from the fuel tank connection to the tubing that goes to the fuel nozzle. Anyway, we called immediately after a recommendation from the first garage we found on Google. When we called Jack picked up the phone and told us to come in right away even though he was "so busy right now, we've got so much going on." When we arrived we were amazed at how many Porsches there were in the lot, every single Porsche that I've dreamed about owning was sitting in the lot, they had 930 slantnoses, 911 Carreras out the yingyang and a ton of other vintage classics. Jack said the same thing about being busy but immediately took a look at our car because he said that fuel leaks are a serious problem and that he knew we were desperate. He put the car up, and knew how to fix the problem immediately by tightening the o ring that binds the tubing and fuel pump together, he didn't even charge us, he told us good luck, gave us some tips on where to visit in California, and we were off. I recently purchased a Porsche Boxster from a great dealer in Texas. The car looked terrific but I was unsure about whether it would need to have the IMS bearing replaced. If this bearing fails it probably will destroy the motor. I negotiated a fair purchase price knowing that it might need this repair. I immediately took the Boxster to Stuttgart SW to have it checked out. It did need the bearing replaced as was evidenced by the fact that there were some metal particles trapped in the oil filter. I had Jack's crew go through the car from front to back replacing or repairing anything that needed work. I spent less than it would cost to replace an entire engine and am now confident that I should be trouble free for at least 50,000 miles. It was great finding a shop that was so good at Porsche service.
