A GIGANTIC thank you to the guys who inspected my car on Tuesday September 4th, and while I drove away with a big, glaring, bright red rejected sticker (I didn't even realize what was wrong with it and thankfully had an appointment for something else at the dealership the next day) they explained the state's newest rules regarding inspections (thanks, Massachusetts) and why the window tint installed just a year ago was now no longer legal (again, thanks for that, Massachusetts). As luck would have it, I had to be back this way at the end of the week for a wedding in Amherst, so I zoomed in for a re-inspection with one new tire and no window tint (and it was HOT this week!) a few days later and drove away 3 minutes later with a normal sticker. For anyone who may have similar issues this year, remember that these are not their rules, they just enforce them (and the inspection is now monitored on video, so Big Brother RMV can watch). Good price on gas. One of the cheapest that I saw in the Sturbridge vicinity. The location was easily accessible which was a huge help to me. Since I am anything but a local to say the least. The gas was the third lowest price that I saw in the general vacinity with one of the other two not taking credit cards at all and the other was within $.03 per gallon of the cost here. It was also the nicest with respect to cleanliness from a current perspective; newer pumps, proper canopy, newer storefront, no litter, properly lined parking lot, etc. I was also impressed by the gentleman behind the counter as he was honest, fair, and straightforward. Pro Tip: AmEx cards work only some of the time. Purportedly there is no rhyme or reason to this! Lots of sudsy bubbles n buckets to clean those bug catchers up when needed. The pumps do not have autofill pump handles, so I suppose you have to stand there to pump all your gas, however I just may not know how to properly work these pumps... *shrugs* I got the job done and that is what matters the most. If I was working or living nearby, I would definitely try to come here again as it was a pretty kewl experience. read more

I took my car here for repairs after reading some reviews of the shops in the area. Since it was rated the highest at the time I gave them a call and thy said I could bring it right in then and there and they'd take a look at it for me. Upon arriving, I met with Ray and turned over my key so he could take it for a test drive and then get it on the lift to inspect it. Even though they had a full yard and cars in all bays, he was able to accommodate me very quickly. And I even assured him that I was in no hurry. While I was waiting, I happened to meet and strike up a conversation with a gentleman there who I discovered is on the Sturbridge police force. He said he and his family have been using this shop for many years as do many others he knows. Reassuring news for me. It turned out that my car's rear differential required replacement. He quoted me a price, got a used one ordered (we agreed that would be the best way to go bang-for-the-buck wise) and I brought the car back the following morning so they could fit the replacement. After they fit the replacement the following day, Ray informed me that we had received a damaged part from the supplier. Unfortunately, this wasn't discovered until it was fitted to my car. It worked. But man, did it sound awful! Worse than my original one! I think Ray was more upset than I was. And understandably so. He and his guys now had to put the time in to swap a part out twice and this isn't exactly a fast operation like an oil change. The day following that and the second replacement arrived and was installed and now all is well. And the final price came in a bit under the quote he gave me. Despite the supply issue, I give these guys five stars for their competency, professionalism and the fact that they care about getting the job done right. Thank you, Ray and team! read more

Just what Sturbridge needed, another gas station/convenience store. Plenty of pump offering competitive prices. Clean inside, including the restrooms. There is a drive thru and space to add a DD or some other fast food in the future. read more

My husband purchased gas at Sturbridge gas and was charged twice on his debit account. This stuff happens occasionally so that's not my main complaint. My complaint is with the store manager and her attitude. The double charge overdrafted my account and prevented a pending credit card payment from going through. I was charged $35 late fee from the cc company and a $30 overdraft fee from the bank!! My husband brought the manager a printout proving the double charge and she gave him the runaround. I had to go back to the bank to get ANOTHER highlighted printout because evidently she couldn't read Sturbridge gas on the first one!! She finally credited back the original double charge but nothing else. So I am now out an additional $65..check your statements when you purchase gas here. read more

Auto repair-If I could give 0 stars I would. I think there was an ownership change recently and the people that run the place are not nice and have horrible service. I used to bring my cars here for minor issues all the time but recently the guy with the beard and missing teeth has had attitude problems whenever I've gone. Today I went to ask if I could order a tire and at 3:05 pm I pulled into a parking spot, a man approached my passenger side window and put 3 fingers up to it, confused I got out of the car and before I could stand upright he started at me "did you not hear what I said we close at 3" "no sir I did not", I replied, "can I ask" he cut me off with anger in his voice.... "no we are closed, it's after 3" "I just wanted to see if I can order a tire." He raises his voice "it's after 3 on a Saturday nothing is open and I couldn't do anything until Monday" at this point I am getting annoyed as I have never experienced auto service like this, I reply "look man I am not trying to argue with you I wanted to ask a simple question." At this point I jumped in my car and drove away, any longer and I maybe would have lost it. The guy has a chin strap beard, couple missing teeth in the top front and seems to have a perpetual bad attitude. Needless to say I will not even buy gas from here anymore.- also I just called dodge and ordered the tire, it is now 3:32 pm on the same day! read more

so my son took a road trip and his car broke down and needed to be towed to the nearest mechanic shop. the mechanic there told him that he would take a look at his truck in the morning. the next morning my son was told that the transmission was "done" and would need a new one. the mechanic states he took the transmission out and was just waiting on word from my son on what to do next. My son had called me frantic didnt know what to do and did not want to spend all this extra money on a car he just bought 2 weeks ago. i had my husband call and speak to the mechanic since my son is young and not mechanic lingo friendly. the mechanic told my husband that the transmission was done and they could get a used one but it would take 7-10 days to get and fix and it would cost $2800 plus. my father is a mechanic and said that was too much and he would also factor in hotel, car rental and food for the 7-10 day wait. we had a friend come tow his truck back to MD for $1400. My dad pulled my sons truck into the garage and said it was low on transmission fluid, my dad added 3 quarts of fluid and it is fine. So my husband called back to the shop spoke with the mechanic and told him that our mechanic said the transmission had not been taking out and was not "done" and all it needed was some transmission fluid. the mechanic laughed and said thats why we took that "white boys' money" and hung the phone up on my husband. this shop just took advantage of my child because he was young and out of state and i feel that places will take advantage of people that are out of town because they are desperate and vulnerable. i will be also filing a complaint with www.mass.gov/mcad, www.mass.gov/ago, http://www.bbb.org/ read more

The staff, especially the young manager, Will, were incredibly helpful. I had a flat and needed some advice on the realignment of my wheels and the guys were helpful, effective and they gave me terrific pricing. The place was clean and you felt a respect for the work and the environment there. Gas prices are great, too! read more

Car repair guys are beyond amazing. My wife and I had car problems while traveling through the area, and they were recommended by someone in town, and I can see why. They took the car in on the spot, did a thorough check, and actually explained things in great detail. They went to get a needed part, stayed late to complete the repair, and we were on our way just a bit later. Everyone should be fortunate enough to have a car repair place like this in their town, and I'm grateful we happened upon them by blind luck while traveling through. It's too bad that five stars is the maximum rating, because they should get more than that. read more
