I tried this new restaurant and overall it was good. The service was nice and the food came out fresh. I will say -- I will crave the dessert and the side of beets. Those were honestly the standout items of the whole meal and worth mentioning. That said, nothing else really grabbed me enough to make this a place I'd go back to. It wasn't a bad experience at all, just not memorable enough overall. I'm glad I tried it once, but it's probably not a spot I'd revisit.

I'm going to be honest here though I feel bad about it. I did not enjoy this meal and am likely to never return. I would rate it as more of a 2.5. I leaned to 3 over 2 stars because the manager was SO nice. Also, my drink was good. The service was okay, she seemed to be either inexperienced or super frazzled (poor thing dropped a tray full of drinks for the table in front of me). She wasn't rude or anything though. I would've liked to hear more about the menu initially. The amuse-bouche was odd to me. A baby food looking shot of gravy (?) with untoasted & unbuttered bread. I could've done without it. I ordered the Picanha & it was a waste of $49. I HATED the way it was cut. It was under seasoned & I could barely chew it. I left quite a bit on the plate. I will say that the chimichurri was delicious though. The fries were good but I am a dipper & love all sauces & condiments. I asked for ketchup & all they had was a beet ketchup that just tasted like puréed beets & nothing else. It felt like I was eating an immune booster. Hated it. I then asked for aioli & it tasted like just a glop of plain mayo. It was thick & flavorless. I will say it is a cute, small space and the music was nice. Typical Magazine street parking but I had no issue finding a spot right out front.

The cleanliness of the chef preparing the food is a MAJOR problem. How does the owner post a pic of that and think that would be appetizing to see. I'm totally turned off from this establishment. Yukkk!

    Missed the mark.

If pretension were an art form, Studio would deserve a gallery of its own. Sadly, what they serve up isn't fine dining ; it's confusion on a plate. The place tries to pass itself off as a high-end culinary experience, but the vibe is closer to a late-night Turkish kebab shop that's run out of both charm and seasoning. The service? Imagine waiting for enlightenment in a room where no one makes eye contact. Every course felt like an afterthought, every glance from the staff a silent cry for help. If this is New Orleans' idea of sophistication, someone needs to remind them that hospitality, not hype, is what makes a restaurant great.

I have now started to stop by Studio on Magazine at Bordeaux. It is a restaurant owned by Tal Sharon. He also has the Tal's across the street. A casual Hummus/Pita joint. Studio had a wood burning grill. It has a really wide variety of meats on the grill and very unusual vegetable and salad combos. Making one of our most unique restaurants Uptown. Indoor, outdoor and bar seating. Good cocktails, a happy hour. Its well rounded.

    Beef carpaccio

I was so excited to try this sister restaurant of Doris Metropolitan uptown. We went on a Monday night so it was really slow so we had excellent very attentive service. We started with the beef carpaccio which is really unique presentation of a thinly sliced beef blanket over a delicious arugula salad. Then we had the roasted eggplant spread- spicy deliciousness. For main course I had the Denver cut steak. It was cooked on the blue side of medium rare but delicious. My husband had the 7hr slow roasted short rib which was fantastic and falling apart the way you want. For sides we had the cucumber salad-yummy (cucumber apples cilantro parsley and onion). We also had the root puree which was too spicy for me (?white pepper) but my husband liked it. We also got the fries - house cut thick delicious fries with a beet type of ketchup which some of the reviews have criticized but I really enjoyed. For dessert we shared the basque salted caramel cheese cake - perfect! Don't worry we took home lots of leftovers!

They were so good! For dessert we had the brownie and the butter cake! The butter cake was amazing! The brownie a bit dry. I think the brownie would've been much better with ice cream. However, all in all the food was 10 out of 10 would recommend! As for drinks, we tried just about everything on the menu, and I would highly recommend anything with gin in it! While the food was amazing, the service was a bit slow... As this was my first time, that's what I can say. However, I was visiting family who has been here multiple times and they were surprised by the slow service. So my assumption is that it is not slow service typically. Our waitress was awesome and very polite! I really enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant! We were sat outside. I enjoyed the outdoor lighting and the music they were playing. Some might think the music was too loud, but I thought it was perfect! Would I recommend this place to other others? YES! I will be going back!

Still a New Orleans Gem - Visitor since 2018!…read more I'm updating my review as of April 2026 because it's important for visitors to know that The Vintage has absolutely "still got it." My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. Jimmy if you are reading this, THANK YOU!! If you want a spot that feels authentic, welcoming, and consistently excellent, put The Vintage at the top of your list!

The menu has many choices. I ordered the firecracker shrimp with side arugula salad. The shrimp was yummy the salad too but expected more on the salad maybe cucumber or tomatoes over all for just having cheese on Arugula with dressing was ok. I paired it with the shrimp and it was tasty! According to the hop on/off bus the beignets & champagne are the hit at this cafe. The bartender made a wonderful cocktail with champagne & it was delicious! The spot is dog friendly & in a cute little restaurant/bar row & shops area.

This place is quintessential New Orleans! If you're looking for great food and a cool place to hang…read moreout, this is it. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which makes it perfect whether you want a relaxed brunch or just a fun place to grab cocktails. The building itself is an old house that's been turned into lodging and a restaurant, which adds so much charm and character. If you're visiting NOLA, this is definitely a must-visit spot. Inside, the décor is eclectic, fun, and full of personality. It's the kind of place where you can comfortably sit at the bar for cocktails, enjoy a meal, or just relax. There are several side rooms with couches and seating areas, which makes it great for meeting friends, family, or colleagues to unwind after a busy day--or even just popping in while strolling around the city. We went for Saturday brunch, and the menu isn't huge--which I actually love because it means everything is done well. There were plenty of options, including gluten-free and vegetarian choices. The seating is comfortable and spaced out so you don't feel crowded by other diners. The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We ordered a variety of dishes, and everything was really good. The cocktails were also excellent--generous pours and well made. After brunch, we walked out back to the pool area and enjoyed another cocktail while soaking in the beautiful day. It was the perfect ending to a great brunch experience. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place with great food, great drinks, and a uniquely New Orleans!

The stay was *beyond my expectations* (we had been there before for drinks but not to the hotel part). Every single person we encountered on staff was SO kind and fun from the moment we walked in. Started the evening at the bar, which had a great mix of neighbors/regulars (with cute dogs) and tourists. The liquor selection and cured cocktails are magical. We checked into Room #4, which was perfect. Every room at the hotel has a record player, a Marshall external mini amp/speaker and the best mini bar selection...just knowing it was there was awesome (we did eventually cave in and enjoy some flavored pretzel twists). Dinner was SO yummy. Our waiter, Jasper, was a rock star...He arranged for a nice surprise birthday beverage. We had the gumbo (a meal in itself that was so good we saved half of it to take home and ended up devouring it cold from the mini fridge before we left the next morning...it was *that good*), the goat cheese app (the bread and the honey poured on top was divine), the stuffed redfish (once I was done with my meal, the empty plate almost looked like it was licked clean...Although tempted, I was actually able to keep my composure and not do that...) and the double stack burger (also saved to bring home and perfect for a snack this evening). The room was the ideal hideaway (located at the back of the second floor) for our little staycation. We jammed out to Muddy Waters on the turntable while getting ready (next time, we are going to borrow one of their themed record stacks...It was a work night...Monday...so we had to keep things low key). It was super easy to sign into streaming apps on the room TV...After dinner, we watched the end of the NFL Playoff game and then Netflixed and Chilled. Even though there was a large-ish reception going on downstairs, we heard nothing from our room. The breakfast (included with the room) was the perfect way to start my work day the next day. It arrived right at the selected time. Delicious coffee, eggs, breakfast potatoes and crispy bacon. The hotel wifi was great. I worked for a few hours from the room (they have a generous 1:00 pm check-out time) before we headed back home. I love the jewel toned decor, repurposed furniture and quirky ambiance (artwork, photographs, hidden/not so hidden alligator motif). They give you a *real key* for the room, which is a nice retro touch. The shower was delightful, the bedding clean, crisp and comfy. I could not think of a better way to spend the first day of the 50th year of my life. We will be planning another staycation soon when it's a little warmer and we can also enjoy the pool :) Thank you, folks at The Chloe!
