Detailed Account of Negligent Service Formal Complaint…read moreRegarding Negligent Eyebrow Waxing Service and Subsequent Skin Damage Service Performed: Eyebrow Shaping and Waxing Time of Service: April 2025, Esthetician: T. Result: Severe skin damage requiring immediate medical attention, resulting in prolonged physical and professional inconvenience. During the service, I experienced clear indications of improper technique and negligent care: Excessive Heat: The applied beeswax felt excessively hot, indicating an improper temperature setting. Aggressive Removal: The removal of the wax sheet by the esthetician was noticeably aggressive and forceful. Immediate Pain & Acknowledgment: Immediately after the wax removal, I informed the esthetician, Treasure, that the areas above and between my eyebrows were extremely painful. Negligent Aftercare: I questioned whether a proper post-wax cleanser (such as rubbing alcohol) had been used. Treasure confirmed that "No" such cleanser was applied. I was only advised to use a generic ointment and Vitamin E oil. Upon returning home, the painful area above and between my eyebrows became severely red and inflamed. I subsequently confirmed that the skin in these blotches-on both sides above the brow and between the brows-had been physically lifted and removed (skin abrasion/burn). Current State of Injury: The damaged area has progressed from red to pink and is now a noticeable brown/hyperpigmented color. Permanent Damage: The injury to the skin, particularly above the left eyebrow, remains visible even after two professional consultations, indicating permanent damage and a high risk of long-term scarring. Personal and Professional Impact: I have been forced to stay indoors and rigorously avoid all sun exposure to prevent further hyperpigmentation. This has caused significant personal and professional inconvenience, including the cancellation of scheduled appointments. Initial In-Person Follow-Up: I returned to the salon to show the extent of the damage. I spoke with an employee named Emily, who confirmed the owner / manager was unavailable. Broken Financial Commitment: The business owner promised in written format to reimburse all current and future dermatology visit fees related to this injury. However, the owner failed to follow through on this commitment, and all subsequent attempts to contact them regarding payment have been ignored. Lack of Response to Third Party: I filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but the business owner did not respond to the inquiry at all, demonstrating a profound lack of professionalism and accountability. This incident reflects a severe lapse in professional standards, commitment, and customer care. I have suffered a painful and lasting physical injury, permanent damage to my left eyebrow, and significant inconvenience due to the negligence of the esthetician and the subsequent failure of the business owner to uphold their financial commitment and basic professional responsibility.

In the past, my verbal descriptions and magazine pictures of the haircut I wanted just didn't seem to help. To be fair, some cuts came close, but in most cases, once I washed my hair, I couldn't make it look like the original cut. However, after I get a cut at Salon 212, my haircut falls into place day after day until the next cut. In addition, I get many compliments wherever I go! And, as if all that weren't enough, despite this salon being upscale, the professional and non-professional staff are all extremely down to earth and nice. I can't think of one thing that would improve my experience there. I've never seen anyone walk out of Salon 212 with anything less than spectacular looking hair!

What I got: Buccal Face Lift Massage & Mini Collagen Facial…read more(1.5 hours for $280) Aya's take: I have heard so much about buccal massages and wanted to finally give it a try. Valeria was my masseuse; she was very comforting and knowledgable. The Buccal Face Lift Massage is a massage technique for face lifting that targets areas of the lymphatic system, encouraging fluid drainage and in turn reduce puffiness, reduces appearance of wrinkles, improves facial contouring and decreases dark under-eye circles. It also assists with decreasing tension in the jaw and headaches as a result of tension & stress. After the massage, Valeria did a Mini-Collagen Facial to cleanse, purify, and hydrate the skin with ClarityRx Anti-Aging Facial and Collagen Masque. Overall, my face felt less tense and my skin was soft and glowing! I did like the products they use and throughout my session, Valeria was communicating with me to ensure she was using adequate pressure when needed. Good try, and I will likely be back to check out their other services.

I always say, when I am rich my indulgence will be to get my hair done every day. Well, now I am…read moresuper sad I will never be rich because Aura Head Spa was quite the indulgent experience, which I loved every single moment of. My family got me a gift card to Aura Head Spa for my birthday, and I am SO glad they did! To be honest, I was a bit nervous with some of these reviews, but maybe they've since gotten all the kinks out of their business because I had a wonderful time here. The lobby area is very cute and the check-in process was super easy with the very lovely front desk ladies. Gabby came to get me. I put on their robe, put my belongings in a locker, and headed downstairs for my 50 minute classic head spa with an added curl relief service. Gabby told me that it is a shared space downstairs so that we will be whispering when talking. I didn't mind this at all, and it did not take away from my experience. When I laid down on the table she put a warming mask on my eyes, which was glorious and began the whole process. She worked on my scalp the most - massaging, gentle scraping, using one of the vibration machines (sorry, don't know what they are called), and the water fall halo. All of it was AMAZING. I felt so relaxed and just entirely in the moment. The mini shoulder massage and facial were fantastic as well! As others have said, I wish it could have gone on and on! Afterwards, I went up to their blow dry bar and did my hair for the day. Even that was a lovely experience in and of itself. It was just the perfect me time I needed. Thank you Aura Head Spa. Also, pro tip - I was going to wear sweatpants, but decided last minute to wear jeans. I should have stuck with my gut and wore sweatpants because obviously you leave your pants on. I would have been a bit more comfy in sweats or shorts, instead of jeans, but that certainly didn't take away from anything!

I first became a patient of Dr. Downie 16 years ago when I was living in NJ and her office was at another location in Montclair. I needed a doctor who specializes in the treatment of African skin, which easily scars and hyperpigments. A few customers in my hair braider's shop recommended her. Dr. Downie successfully treated my melasma because I have not since had a recurrence. Dr. Downie is both my medical and cosmetic dermatologist. I drive over and hour and a half from Eastern Long Island to see her. She has performed on me many cosmetic procedures, which beautify my skin. I use the skin and hair products she recommends. My scars have reduced significantly, and my hair is now growing like wildfire. I have never received more compliments from strangers about my image. All staff are friendly and professional.
