Typically I don't get independent salon haircuts because: 1.) I'm a dude and my hair is not that complicated and 2.) Expense. Enter Studio 480 and my new stylist Ashley. The interior is a "Rustic Modern meets highlights of elegance and functionality," appeal. I had an appointment so I didn't wait however the waiting area seemed comfortable. Ashley was hospitable and quite capable of taking my wish-washy thoughts about what to do with my rats-nest full of hair and turn it into Adam Levine quality style. For a male, it's nice to have all the edges nice and clean, good fades (as my sides were requested - significantly shorter than the top), sideburns trimmed with the edges of beard cleaned up. Most important: she washed my hair AFTER the cut, so I could go back to work and not worry about being itchy and covered with tiny little hair particles. The styling was great and she gave me some tips on how to reconstruct the styling (fat chance I'll be able to do that....). I honestly feel like I got a great haircut, at a reasonable rate and will be sure to come back again. I might even make this a once a month affair. Thanks so much! read more

I just made a last minute decision to cut 12 inches off my hair. I don't have a regular salon so I jumped on yelp and looked for the first place with good reviews that could get me in the same afternoon. I ended up with Marlene who was awesome! I showed her a bunch of pictures that I liked, told her I'm not picky, and to do what she thinks would be best. She did an amazing job with very little direction. I saw Penne for a blow dry and it was a disaster. I went in to see her before my appt to explain that my hair was curley and highlighted so it needed to be blowdried straight with my round boarbristle brush and without the use of a flatiron.She said she could easily achieve this.I went back for my blowdry appt 2 hours later with my hair freshly washed and my products(Moroccan oil) already in,I handed her my brush and I immediately noticed her taking large pieces and trying to blow dry them,I immediately told her that she was never going to get it straight without using 2 or 3 inch sections of hair.Half way through I noticed that she was using a ceramic brush and not the one I had given her because i saw sections of my hair snapping and falling to the ground also i could feel her pulling my hair very hard.I have NEVER seen a stylist do that before and I have my doubts that she even is.I had originally tried to make an appt with Yi me but she was already booked.If I could have gotten in with her, things probably would have been fine.Penne was a disaster,I was reluctant to yell or scream because she mentioned that she went to the same church as myself,but when i got home and saw what a horrible job she did and had to go to the mall to have it blowdryed again the same day then i regretted paying here the outrageous fee that a real stylist should get.Complete robbery! This a reply to Renee, owner of Studio 480, rebuttal to my negative comment regarding a very bad haircut that Irene gave me on 11/23. Please regard my review to get the whole story. Renee states that 3 people worked on my hair after her mother Irene cut it and could not rectify the chop job. (I did bring a picture of what I wanted.and Irene said she could do the style.) There was only one hairstylist who came to try and fix the problem. Casey tried but try as she did she couldn"t fix the damage. Another correction to Renee stating that she called me after she found out I was not happy is not correct. I CALLED HER and told her how unhappy I was with the cut . I did verbally say how this is not the what I asked for,and showed the picture of cut I wanted several times to Irene. About 6 years ago I was sick of trying to find a good stylist in my area. I made an appointment right before vacation. I screwed up the days and when I arrived my stylist was not available. Casey was at the reception desk and she said she would do my hair. It was the best mistake I've ever made. Casey is amazing! Her color jobs are perfect and always cuts my hair perfect. This review is long over due. Over a month ago I desperately needed a haircut and my regular barber was out of town. I am not one to trust a new person to cut my hair, but two factors convinced me to try a change. One, a good friend who lives in the East Valley raved about Renee at Studio 480 and , two, I was looking to do something a little different than getting the same cut I have been requesting for almost twenty years! Not only did I enjoy the time spent chatting with Renee ( she is super cute and has a great personality:), but I received a great, way more modern, haircut. Renee absolutely understood what I was looking for and gave me my first real haircut that can be "styled". I ended up going back again two weeks later ( a 40 minute drive) because I wanted to make sure I got the same cut. It was well worth the drive and while I have been back to my normal barber, I would go back to Renee in a heartbeat! My barber now just copies the cut that she set up and while he does a good job, I am looking forward to him going out of town so I have an excuse to make the trek out to Mesa to get my haircut! Came in for a hair cut today. I got a haircut with Julie. She is very nice and did a great job. She didn't talk to me much. maybe because shes a bit older and there isnt much conversation to do lol. Not exactly what i wanted with my haircut but it wasn't bad at all. This is a cute little place and very nice and chic inside. Wish they had some music or something on though. Very very quite, i was falling asleep lol. It is kind of in a somewhat deserted lot, but not too deserted! The girl at the front desk is very nice. She was kind of struggling maybe due to being new? All in all, this is a good place to go and get a haircut. They also have a mini nail corner if you want to get your nails done. The atmosphere is classy and inviting. I wanted to get my hair cut short, according to a picture, from hair that fell to the middle of my back. When I confirmed that I planned to donate my excess length, Renee took the time to prepare and bag the hair for me. As she was cutting my hair, she consulted the picture, and communicated with me about aspects I might have wanted to keep or change. My new look is exactly what I wanted.
