Studio480 is the best salon in Mesa, from the stylist to the receptionist! They have great quality products and all the stylist do a wonderful job. You could book with any of the stylists and walk out happy, the vibe in the salon is one of the best I have ever been in. They all get along and you can tell they all like working together, they are helpful with one another and that's hard to find at a salon full of women!! But they all have such fun personalities and seeing the work they do is fun and up to date, from beautiful highlights to fun pops of fusion colors everyone will be happy walking out of studio 480. I was looking for a new salon and found Studio 480 in my Church Bulletin at "All Saints" with a 20% off coupon. I arrived for my appointment at 11:45am and finally left at 4:45pm. I had booked a full highlight with additional pink highlights. My bill seemed kinda high with the coupon, so I called today to get more details and told I was charged for toner but told it actually wasn't a charge for toner - it was a charge for a 2nd bleach. Then I was told I could have been charged a higher fee (indicating she gave me the best price) or since I was in her chair for 5 hours, and she charges $60 per hour she could've charged me charged $300. If that is your price then charge that price. Don't tell me this after the fact to look like you were giving me a "discount of some sort". I've never spent more than 3 hours at a salon for this type of work. I certainly didn't expect to be there 5 hours. I'm happy with my hair, but hate lack of good customer service. The people were friendly and the salon was nice. Anyhow an unfortunate first experience. I won't be back. read more

I'm here in Arizona for a few weeks visiting family and I need it a hair cut so I looked here in yelp and saw the reviews from this salon and I like it so I decided to call. It's was easy to set an appointment. I had Allison and she did great. She worked her magic and gave me a really cute short hair how I want it. She washed my hair and cut it super easy and well. You can tell she knows what she it's doing. Not everyone knows how to do short hair. I didn't have to asked her to fixed anything it's just perfect for my hair. I used to go to Studio 480 years ago, but couldn't remember who did my hair - that was during a very stressful period in my life and things are a little fuzzy. I went back this summer to have layers added to my long, all one length hair. The stylist did a beautiful job. I went back 6 weeks or so later for a trim, and it was night and day - this time she left my hair partially damp, the layers were choppy, the styling non-existent - by the time I got to my car it was a shapeless, frizzy mess. A couple of months later, I decided to have my hair cut in an inverted bob. I went to a salon that my friend recommended, who butchered it. A week later, I went back to Studio 480 to have it fixed, and chose a different stylist. This person corrected the bad cut, did a beautiful blowout, and while she stacked the back (which I specifically asked her NOT to do), I was overall very pleased. Went back on 12/7 to have it trimmed, and the stacking removed. This experience ended up totally different from the one just before. The cut went fine, the stylist and I were talking and laughing, nothing unpleasant. Then she went to style it. She left it damp (huge no-no for my hair), so the blowout looked NOTHING like the one she did 6 weeks prior. As I was sitting in the chair, it was getting frizzy, waves, and bends. I told her I wasn't happy with it, and instead of blowing it out properly, she asked if I wanted it flat ironed. Sure. So she flat ironed it, and left the pieces framing my face very blunt. I told her I didn't like that, and that when I flat iron at home, I use the iron to softly bump the ends under. She took a big piece and created a HUGE kink on the one side. At that point, I was done. She just said "Well, that's what it did". Honstly, I was shocked. I went to check out and go home (instead of running the errands I had to do) and rewash and fix my hair. Reception asked if I wanted to schedule a follow up, and I said no, I was not coming back. She asked why, I pointed to my hair. It looked as if I had two totally different styles - and not good ones at that, plus the top of my hair was so frizzy it wasn't funny. Who sends someone out looking like that?! Reception offered to get a manager, but I didn't want to raise a big fuss there - I figured she would notify a manager and I'd get a phone call early in the week, but apparently, an upset customer isn't a big deal? Two weeks out, the front of my hair is fine, but the back is cut unevenly, and lays poorly. I don't know what is going on with this salon, but it's pretty sad. I uploaded pictures. The picture with the white shirt was the first cut in October that was blown out so nicely. The rest of the pictures are from 12/7. And I tipped 20%. What an idiot I am. read more

Have been going to Karina for men's haircut about a year now and she is excellent. Professional and consistent.

I moved from the Bay Area (Oakland) about 3 years ago. Starting over is really quite the task and finding a hair stylist is always a challenge. I called several salons to ask my questions and to get a feel for their knowledge and how well they listen. A few I had to leave messages and a few answered when I called. My gut told me to go with this salon because I received a call back and felt quite comfortable with the answers to my questions. I was a little anxious when I first arrived. It is a very welcoming salon. It is clean and the staff is friendly. I was directed to her chair and my stylist asked questions and I gave her all my information on my hair and my preferences. She listened and my hair came out great! Just once, I went to see a stylist in San Diego because I needed it done (I was there for an unexpected situation) and was so totally disappointed because she didn't listen to a thing I said and did it her way. Never again! This salon will be my only "do my hair" salon I will go to! read more

If you want to be scalped come here! Horrible horrible horrible! I had been very happy with the stylist I have been seeing here for the past 5 yrs. They fired her about 4 days from my next appointment leaving me in the lurch and put me with someone else who they promised would take good care of me. I told her I wanted just an inch off the bottom and that I was very nervous about someone else doing my hair. I was again reassured that I was in good hands. I left with my hair wet not having been given a mirror to see the back before I left. I told them I wanted it shorter in the front so I was not surprised that it was shorter around my face. I told her long layers with an inch off the length in back. When I got home to brush my hair it was all chopped off in the back. When I put a mirror up behind me to see what she did I was horrified! Since I was a kid I have had long hair. I was butchered. When I walked in my hair was to my bra-line in the back. When I walked out it's to my shoulders. She took about 4" off my hair. When I called to complain Tara (WHO TOLD ME SHE WAS A MANAGER) told me that she saw and was was shocked BY how much hair was on the floor because she knows how I always want it long and said she would refund me and talk to Amy who they had cut my hair. She did not fully refund my appointment only part of it. When I saw that she didn't do what she promised me I called in to complain and was not allowed to speak to Tara. They called me rude after all they did TO ME and then proceeded to tell me not to come back as if I was the problem! I had two other appointments already scheduled with my stylist they fired who they gave to a different stylist than this incident. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU! YOU SHOULD NEVER TREAT LOYAL CUSTOMERS THE WAY YOU TREATED ME! WORD OF MOUTH GOES A LONG WAY. I WILL BE SURE TO LET EVERYONE I KNOW THAT THEY SHOULD NEVER ENTRUST STUDIO 480 WITH THEIR HAIR OR THEIR BUSINESS! EPIC FAIL STUDIO 480! read more

Went in for full highlights and showed photos of the shade of blonde (beige) I wanted so the stylist would know how to tone it. After the toner was rinsed my hair was reddish brown. I was told my hair was very porous and over absorbed the toner. Even if that was the case, my hair turned out reddish brown. She washed my hair three times with clarifying shampoo and at this point my scalp was raw, I'm 38 weeks pregnant, and we are four hours in. I asked to end the appointment, lost all faith and trust in the stylist to even trim my hair. Now, not only do I not have highlights, I'm darker than when I came in and not even close to my natural hair color. I believe she used the wrong toner altogether. I was told the toner would wash out but it hasn't yet. On top of this, I was still charged $60. For what? My hair is ruined. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. *I've tried adding a photo of my roots with bright red shimmering strands but it doesn't appear on my end. read more

The hair dresser was late to my appointment, was short and snippy, then charged me an outrageous amount for eyebrows, hair trim and simple solid 5n color (my hair is very thin and above my shoulders) . Came here for all over highlights and to get my hair layered. While making the appointment I made sure to let them know my hair was really thick so they weren't surprised when I showed up. I was there for four hours which I expected and I left with my hair being two or three different tones. Before leaving my stylist told me it should lighten after two washes, it didn't. So I called back so she could fix it and I didn't get a call back until I called a third time. She did get me in to fix it but I somehow left with it looking worse. One side of my hair looks like a light golden brown and the other side is the color I wanted. When she was done she noticed it but didn't offer much aside from just saying she could give me a deeper root which wouldn't have solved anything. I hate that I spent almost $300 on my hair and I left extremely unhappy. I even told her I'd just deal with it because she didn't fix it and she just said ok. I decided to not go there again because that's not how you should be treated when you're getting you're hair done. Honestly I wish she would've asked for someone to help her fix my hair but she let me leave unhappy with my hair. Don't get me wrong, the place is nice and the stylists are sweet so that's why I gave the three stars. read more
