This is a wonderful place for the whole family. This my second visit and the service is excellent. Kayla was my stylist is great with my thin, fine, straight hair. She is great with suggestions, but also listens to my needs and concerns. I observed other stylists and they all produced great work. The prices are very reasonable. The reasons I give this 4 V's 5 star, is although it very clean it is a a little crowded and not decorated very much. So if you are looking for a zen atmosphere this is not the place. I went to see Andrew for a cut and color. Andrew is extremely nice! He is a ray of sunshine. I am extremely picky about my hair color, and Andrew was able to get it just perfect. He explained everything in detail, and went out of his way to make me happy. My haircut is very cute. I feel about 10 years younger. I've been to Studio 3 a few times in the past 5 years and every time I have had a great experience! I started with Jenny, who is phenomenal! I had my hair colored by Hannah who did a fantastic job on my hair especially because I do not like anything extreme, she listened & gave me a beautiful color! And today I went in for a Ouidad cut with Andrew. First time with Andrew - He is now my stylist forever! I LOVE my new hair style! I was very impressed with how Andrew listened to what I was hoping to accomplish & also how he guided me on how to get this style at home. However, Andrew made me feel extremely welcomed and taught me so many things about how to take care of my hair. OMG I would love to come here every week if my income supported it! Love love love Jenny!!! I am super picky and typically stay with my hairdresser for life!!! I was hesitant as I always am in the beginning , but she did not disappoint!!! Not only does she listen to what you want, she gives good advice and suggestions and takes her time which is important. Also, a huge problem for me is finding someone that can cut curly hair, and she is the first person I have met that knows what she is doing. Also, the way she blends the hair color was great!!!! I have been going to Studio 3 since I was a eight years old. Obviously my hair styles have changed into my twenties, but the professionalism and experience has always been top notch. Lynn used to cut my hair as a kid and fixed the bangs I gave myself effortlessly. She gave me your first highlights and did a lovely job styling my hair for prom. Rhonda cut my brothers hair and gave him elevated style. Currently my father and myself get our cut and color by Andrew. He is not only talented with the balayage for my hair, he also gives my dad a great haircut. I couldn't recommend Studio 3 more. read more

I decided the time had come to cut off all my hair (think victoria beckham), this is a big deal. It would be the shortest I've ever cut my hair & I was NERVOUS! I didn't have an appointment since I'd just gotten the nerve up to cut my hair. After walking in and telling the gentleman at the front desk that I was coming in for a cut and giving my name, he had to put on a smock & offered me a variety of drinks. After waiting for awhile he called me over & asked if I had an appointment. Um no, I told you that already. Well there was someone else with the same name who DID have an appointment. But they set me up with a stylist & she was FABULOUS! Rhonda (my stylist) took her time & showed me ways that I could style my hair easily. I arrived here in a hair crisis and left 150% happier. I was struggling with my post-partum hair (long and curly, but damaged, broken, and falling out like crazy). I wanted a cut, but not a "mom cut"! I cannot recommend Rhoda enough. She took my hair's broken spirit and lifted it up. She probably cut 4-5 inches of the damaged stuff off, and now it has beautiful curly life again. She put small layers that really work with the hair (not layers that turn into fashion mullets after a wk). I hadn't made an appointment and got Rhoda as a walk-in, but am SO glad I did. Walked in with a terrible haircut from another salon that needed to be fixed. Jenna spent over two hours fixing my hair and did a fantastic job. I was worried that she would need to cut it shorter to fix it ( it was already way too short) but she was able to keep it the same length! Very happy with my haircut and grateful that she took the time to get it right. It is a little more expensive than other places I have been to, but you get what you pay for. Had to get my hair cut somewhere else after I paid $55 here for a cut with no shampoo and no blow dry. I went in with long hair and asked to keep the length except for a trim and have layers put in. Since I left without a blow dry it wasn't clear till I got home that there were no layers even though while she was cutting it she was saying they were there. When I got home and realized I wasn't happy I sent an email to the salon she said I could come back and she could add layers in but she didn't think she could give me the look I wanted. There is no way I'm going to let someone cut my hair if they don't think they can do it properly. She mentioned that my hair was too thin for the layers I wanted. Essentially when I left the salon I had way shorter hair than I wanted and one very long layer. I gave it a couple days and was so upset I decided to see another stylist at a different salon. After analyzing my hair he said that the one long layer I had was uneven and he needed to take even more length off to get it straight again. He was also able to give me the layers I wanted, I guess my hair wasn't too fine for him. Skip this salon and go see Michel near the galleria. read more

UPDATE: Thanks to Darcy and Jennifer for reaching out to me and providing excellent customer service. I am satisfied that the situation has been fully rectified and I will be returning at a later date to give them another shot. ------------------------------------------------ I wanted a pompodour that would lay back relatively flat, a cut I've received successfully for several years now. So I asked to have weight removed from the top without diminishing the length in the front, and I provided a picture. Surprisingly, the front of my hair is now very short in places and won't lay back at all. Additionally, my stylist used hair-thinning scissors to remove the weight, rather than taking the time to remove the weight more effectively with regular scissors and now my hair stands up on top and appears even thicker than it did before I came in for a cut. I asked my stylist to use the regular scissor to remove the weight, but she did not seem comfortable with this technique and quickly reverted to the thinning-scissors. I am by no means an expert when it comes to cutting hair, but I have had weight removed without thinning-scissors on a number of occasions, with great success, and I know from past experience that the thinning scissors tend to make hair spike. For $40 I would expect my stylist to be able to do this the right way. Also, the cut is completely uneven and unblended on right side. I'm sort of astonished by how poorly this went. This is not the quality I expect from a $40 haircut. read more

i really like the bright colors and funky, modern decor and furniture inside studio 3. after i checked in, i was walked to a changing room in the back, where they have a bunch of robes they call smocks that you can put on to protect your clothes (or to pretend that you're hugh hefner). there is also a fridge with complimentary water, sodas, and even beer (awesome!) i had an appointment with kim for a color and trim, but we ended up only doing a cut, since she explained that to do the color i wanted properly it would take more time. since my hair already has color in it, it needs to be lifted, then lightened, then toned (this could take up to 2 hrs for it to come out right.) i really appreciate her honesty and that she wanted to do a good job without rushing. i initially just wanted a trim, but she had some ideas on how to update my look. i give new hairdressers a one time chance for artistic license on my hair, and she totally earned my approval to do whatever she wants with it in the future. she did an awesome job, and i am very happy with my new look. kim was all booked up through the end of the month, so at her suggestion, i booked an appointment with jenna instead tomorrow to get the color done. i'm really excited, and am looking forward to it :) *update* jenna did an awesome job with the color correction. she got all the old reds out and toned it down so it wasn't brassy. and she even got the color to be pretty even all over. she told me that to achieve the desired end result, it would take a few steps, since i had so much old color in my hair, and we didn't want to end up frying my hair. when she was done, she gave me a neat tip: use suave shampoo at home to help lighten the color some more. it really works, and i find it very ironic that suave shampoo makes your hair unsuave... :T read more

What a fantastic experience! Today was my first haircut from Studio 3. Angie was my stylist, and she was extremely personable and accommodating. When I first arrived, they had me put on a smock and offered me FREE drinks. Angie listened to all the background about my hair and carefully studied the picture I brought of the haircut I wanted to get. She really took her time with me. I have extremely tangled hair, so she worked patiently with it, and followed all my instructions on how I wanted my new style. I love the haircut! She never pressured me to buy products or have her blow my hair out and style it for an extra charge. The price was very reasonable, and the atmosphere at the salon was trendy and relaxed, at the same time. I will definitely be going back. read more

Studio 3 by far is the best salon I have ever found. From the friendly staff that greet you as you walk in the door and the beautiful facilities to the best hair products I have ever used. I have had long hair for years and was extremely nervous but was looking for a change. I wanted something age appropriate and at the same time modern and a little edgy. Jenny asked a few key questions in order to give me the exact look I was going for. Then when she started cutting (and cut about 6" shorter) I knew she would nail it and she did. I took a picture of the cut I liked. I had this hair cut before. It is not very complicated to get that haircut if the stylist is trained well. Angie looked at the picture and found it cute. When she was finished, she tried to blow dry and style my hair to make it similar to the picture. it wasn't similar to the picture at all!! She meant that it's because of the difference in texture of the hair!! After discussing for a while and explaining to her how to get that hair cut, she finally cut it close to that I wanted. I came out happy. But because she styled my hair, I couldn't see the unevenness. I paid $ 80 to have an uneven haircut!!! I have to find another hairsalon to correct it!!! She was very polite and patient but not well trained. I am so sorry (and angry) that it didn't work out for me. I found the salon and Andrew online just by chance. The reviews were really good for both the salon and Andrew. My daughter and I went yesterday. Only 2nd haircuts for both of us since Covid and always scared to try someone new but we both left super happy. The salon was very nice. The staff was very welcoming. Andrew came out and greeted us both. My daughter went first. She goes between curly hair and straight hair but with Covid has been embracing her curly hair. Andrew talked with her about what she wanted and showed her a few things to help with her hair. She came out loving it and couldn't stop talking about it. I was next and Andrew also took the time with me to make sure we were both on the same page for my haircut. Since Covid have stopped coloring my hair and letting my gray grow out. Turns out my husband likes it better than it being colored. Andrew didn't disappoint. He gave me the best haircut I have had in a really long time. My daughter and I have finally find a new stylist that we both love. Only thing I felt bad about was when I checked out I didn't know I couldn't leave a tip on my credit card for Andrew. Melanie is fantastic! My hair is fine and thin and I'm super busy, all of which make my hair difficult to deal with. She colored my hair and it grew out beautifully so wasn't super obvious that it had been literally 16 weeks by the next time she did my color. I love the cut - super simple and easy. I can't believe I've waited so long to write a review. I started coming over here I believe in 2009, maybe 2010, when Angie, my hairdresser left her prior salon and started working here. I've had my hair done by a couple of other people when Angie wasn't available. Everyone has always done a great job. The ladies who wash my hair do a great job as well and are always so happy, no matter how they are feeling. Angie is the best and always done such a great job with my hair. She takes her time and makes sure she knows what you want. Even if someone else is cutting my hair, she makes sure she lets them know what I liked & don't like. I made my boyfriend start coming here a few years back and he has had some great cuts both by Angie and Melanie. He would always go to the walk-in type places for $10 and it annoyed me because he has beautiful hair. So he goes here now as well and the great thing is, even though this is West U and some folks might find it a little pricey, your cut always lasts for a long time and looks great even when growing out!
