However, as I get more mature, I am more and more concerned about my skin. Based on the personal recommendation of a friend, I bought a Groupon so I could give the service a try. Another review on Yelp mentioned the fact that you contact the esthetician personally to make an appointment. I didn't find this strange in the least. I have several friends that have been communicating with stylists and other service professionals for YEARS by text message. I think it's a great feature to be able to get a text confirmation of an appointment or to make appointment changes by text. When I contacted Cathleen by text, she responded promptly and we arranged an appointment. Having only experienced one bad facial, I did a web search to learn what I should expect from a quality facial. I found a great article at http://spas.about.com/od/massage/a/whatisafacial.htm that answered a lot of my questions. On the day of the facial, I arrived on time and was greeted promptly by Cathleen. She happily took my list of medications and skin care products and gave me a pretty little form to fill out. The salon was cute and well-decorated and the spa room where I had my service was pretty and relaxing, even down to the music. Cathleen did everything the article mentioned, from talking to me about my concerns, medications (like how the hormones in my birth control pill affected my skin), skin type, and lifestyle. She examined my skin and tailored the facial just for me. She was friendly and I genuinely enjoyed chatting with her. She answered my many inane questions about what she was doing. She took her time and did things WELL. That attention to detail could be why my appointment time started about 10 minutes late, but this didn't seem unusual to me after years visiting hair stylists and massage therapists. She also told me that I was doing a great job with my skin care regiment and didn't try to sell me any products. This was a pleasant surprise since salons and spas tend to make a lot of money on products. Cathleen was running a post-groupon promotion for a small discount if you pre-booked your next appointment, so I booked my next facial thinking that if I had a bad reaction or my skin looked horrible in the next week that I could cancel it. I did not cancel it. The next day my skin tone was incredibly even and smooth-looking and I didn't even have to wear foundation to work! Pros: - Relaxing experience - Immediate skin improvements - High quality of service - Knowledgeable esthetician - could confidently answer all my questions - Great salon/spa atmosphere Cons: - The location off Clays Mill is a little inconvenient, especially if your appointment is near the time schools let out - Extractions are not fun, but I suppose it's better to be done by a professional and I was surprised at how many blackheads I had Overall, I enjoyed the experience/results and will continue to get a facial by Cathleen on a regular basis.

All of them are equally talented, excellent with color, and up on trends and styles. These folks truly take the time to understand your hair, how it grows, your goals, and they listen carefully. I'd love to have hair like Jake Gyllenhall but unfortunately I'd need more product than I have hair left since my hair is bone straight and fine. Plus, if you stick with them, they will see how your hair tolerates color and how it wears and also how your hair grows and offer advice on how to get a look and offer a quick product tutorial. Remember to ask questions if you aren't feeling like you're getting answers. Communication is two way and critical in this process. Kim, who answers the phones most of the time, manages the inventory, schedules, and is the gatekeeper for all things Aveda is truly fantastic. I love these folks, they are as much family to me as my own. I am comfortable asking questions and advice about how to style my hair or create a new look. The nice thing about it too is that they will collaborate together as a team and also offer you feedback. It's a great team! You need to feel secure in your choices and have realistic expectations. You will also love that your color formula is stored in the Aveda system so if you happen to be in NYC or Miami or Los Angeles, it is accessible! Love this! Atmosphere and vibe here is very relaxed. I read some other posts and don't know a thing about brow waxing, but will ask about it as one poster commented the person doing the work was rude and smacked their gum. Yuck, that's not professional. I think the person now doing it, I met once as her client was leaving. She is super nice and interested in the client she was working on. The client was happy when she was chatting with Kim and her. But, I love the aesthetic of this place. I can't remember if it was an old gas station or convenience store, but the building has a rich Lexington history. The interior is painted a nice gray and it has great lighting in both natural and overhead. It is also well ventilated. Products aren't overwhelming your senses. The chairs are quite fancy and comfortable. I also like how the spaces are set up. It allows me to have conversation with other clients or folks working that day. All their towels and capes are great, which is a sign to me that they care about their customer experience and quality. They take the time to keep things clean, brushes and combs, clippers and scissors are always in perfect condition. They also touch things up a few times a year with paint or anything needing fixed. I hate seeing dirty vents in ceilings and they keep theirs clean! I'm just saying these things because I look at stuff like this to help me measure how invested they are at running their business. I lived in Louisville for many years and went to Z Salon & Spa and later William Deans in the highlands. Bill cut my hair at William Deans, and Zenda at Z. They are among the best and on the same level as the team at Rejuvenation Station Salon & Spa. In my experience with the team here, I always have fantastic results. Go and make the leap, you will not regret it. Plus, you'll make so many new Lexington connections having coffee or tea. It is hard to get booked with them. But, once you make an appointment, if they have an earlier opening, they might call to check to see if you want it. It's such a great culture there and so many fascinating backgrounds and interesting caring, kind, nonjudgmental folks. Chelsea! Nearly forgot to mention her!
