I can't even begin to describe to you the heartbreak that I felt after getting extensions installed by Katie Rogers at this salon. I got a thousand dollar extension install and looked like I paid $20. The hair was not bad quality but the install was absolutely terrible. My hair was very very short. I went in for a consultation and nothing was ever mentioned about the length of my hair or the integrity of health. When I left, I felt OK, but it was when I got home that I noticed the horror that was on my head. When I contacted Katie with My Mermaid Hair and explained to her my unhappiness, I was not offered any sort of help whatsoever. She told me I was trying to scam her and didn't show an ounce of compassion. I was completely broken hearted. She told me my hair was too short and too damaged to blend with her extensions. Considering the fact that I went in for a consultation beforehand, just proves that theory either wrong, or shows that she just wanted my money and knew it wouldn't look right. She ended up blocking my number and blocking me from every sort of social media outlet possible. If you look at her Instagram, you see all of these gorgeous photos of the transformations she has created, but you don't get to hear of the horror stories because she silences them before they have the chance to explain what was done to them. I have heard from multiple clients of mine (I'm also a hairstylist) that she has done something similar to them. That if they have any concerns, she absolutely in no way is wiling to help. I am very passionate about the art of hair and care deeply about my clients happiness. Katie is not this way at all. She pulls the wool over many eyes very easily. read more

Studio 1514 - The extensions installed in my hair by Katie Rogers. - Hair Stylists Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Cindy Bui is the absolute best! She really is the greatest at color! I've had my hair done by others due to living so far from downtown Dallas, just to come right back (more like crawling) to Cindy just because I know every time she will color correct my hair and have it exactly how I wished it would look like! She really is a blondes dream come true! And mind you my hair is dark, almost black and she comes through every time! Can't say enough positive things about her work! Highly recommended her to any one who is looking for a new stylist, definitely trust me! And she's super sweet, very humble girl that makes you feel so beautiful and welcomed every time you sit in her chair! read more

I highly recommend Amanda for extensions and color. She is patient and listens to her clients needs. A true professional and fun to be around. I have been her client for a few years now and she makes me feel special every time I am in her chair. read more

I live downtown and decided to give this place a try since it was so close to my house. I was not disappointed! They were able to fit me in for a same day appointment that afternoon. When I checked in, they offered me a glass of wine. I got my hair cut and colored by Haiya. She was awesome! I love the new color. Haircut is still looking great. And people keep talking about how shiny my hair is now! The place is a little pricey, but totally worth it. read more

I have been coming here since 2014 and I LOVE my extensions. I have also had color done here which you can never go wrong! Love the atmosphere and the people who work here! Everyone greets you and acts like they have known you forever! Katie, Hailey and all the "mermaid girls" are fantastic and will make sure you are well taken care of! The quality of the hair to the price of your service is great! read more

I watched the whole thing go down and it was a pleasant experience from check in to check out. They did a fantastic job and made her feel like a princess for sure. There's free wine a & a DJ booth its a unique setting and full of fun staff. Thanks! read more

Mermaid Hair extensions are gorgeous and thick! The only problem is they shed like crazy!

Before moving to Dallas, I got my hair cut by a highly trained, very friendly stylist every 3 weeks for 6 years. Naturally, I was nervous to have somebody else cut my hair. Maybe they wouldn't have paid as much attention to detail as i'd like, or.. maybe they just wouldn't be friendly or attentive. I scheduled an appointment without knowing much about the place or the stylist, Jaidyn. Immediately I was impressed with her precision and overlaid redundancy (more than one pass if necessary, with the clippers, for example.) The fade was the best I can remember getting and the cut came out exactly as I had envisioned. She exceeded my expectations! As a brand-loyalist, I can assure you that I will be scheduling many visits to see her in the future. read more

I decided to give studio1514 a after seeing a review on it. I needed a curly haircut SOOOO bad and I heard haiya was amazing so i thought why not. I had such high expectations and was so excited to get my haircut. She started cutting and everything seemed great I felt like she knew what she was doing the shape was coming together nicely and everything... and then she said she wanted to wash my hair and reapply product and diffuse it in order to see how it would fall. Well haiya and i style hair completely different. So once she finished and had diffused my hair, it looked nothing like my hair normally does after i was done styling... It looked horrible. And she continued to snip away for shape i thought? After she was finished cutting i touched my hair only to find there was barely any there on the ends. She told me she "made it lighter for me" in other words she thinned it out. Which is not something I had asked her to do... I wanted a little volume and life.. not the bottom layer of my hair cut down to a tiny layer. I hated it. I told her I would send her pictures but after I styled it when i got home I hated it even more. I decided I would give my hair some time to grow out to see if the cut filled out and at around a month and a half later... I've just had to come to the conclusion...well.. i got a horrible horrible hair cut. Its uneven... the ends of my hair are stringy, and my hair just went from voluptuous to puny in a matter of hours. If I could give this salon one star i would... that's just how dissatisfied I am with my hair, and i'll be this way for a while. The only reason I didn't call back and express my dissatisfaction with the salon was because haiya was so sweet and cool. Shes a great person, but at the end of the day I had to write this review in order to let potential customers know what to expect when going into this salon, and how direct they should be about what they want. Pay attention. Give direction. Save your haircut. read more

Called 4 times and left voicemails as well as privately reached out to a stylist to try and book an appointment or just hear back from someone in general and have yet to hear back...meanwhile, I decided I was over it and went and got my hair done at The Johnny Rodriguez Salon, had my trimmed, colored, and extensions and have had it for 2 weeks now and still have not heard back from anyone at Studio 1514...guess they are too busy to need new business or respond to a voicemail, or 2, or 4! read more

My wife and I have been seeing Cruz for years. He is a master of his craft. Every time we have our hair did, we are always receiving compliments on our hair. I recommend not only Cruz but all the other stylist at Studio 1514. If you care how you look, any of the skillful stylist at this salon will make you feel like a million bucks when you walk out. Trust me when I say, "Your hair is in good hands with any of the proficient stylist at Studio 1514". Thank you everybody for making us feel part of the family. Luv. read more

Amanda did my hair today, and she was great! It was my first time at the salon, and I really loved the vibes at the salon. Modern, lots of natural lighting, good music and coffee. Also really wonderful service; Amanda definitely took her time with my hair to get the best results and styled it for me at the end. Possibly my favorite haircut ever! I've been to other salons where the price is also around 65 for a women's haircut, where the service and quality is much lower. Would highly recommend this place, and I'm definitely going back! read more

I've been coming to Studio1514 for about 2 years now and I am in love with the way Haneen does my brows! She's always thorough, on time, and makes sure I'm happy! If you're looking for perfect brows in the downtown area, i would definitely suggest Haneen! read more

ONE STAR only because I could not make it 0 stars. Very unhappy that when you pay almost 100.00 for haircut and almost 200.00 for color it should be done correctly the first time,so I shouldn't have to call back numerous times after quite a few visits. When I called they treated me like they didn't do anything wrong it was me. The last time I called because the color was too light and needed a darker toner, the Mgr, who by the way was extremely unprofessional suggested I go somewhere else. What nerve. There not the only salon in town,so I found one that was wonderful. Probably the best thing they could have done for me. It took me a couple of months to write this, I was so upset. read more

I have been going to studio 1514 for over 4 years now. My hairstylist has been Natalie and she is such a great stylist! She is always helpful in making me look the best I can! Everyone in the salon is really friendly and they even offer wine while getting a haircut!!! Can that get better? Its very modern and stylish inside the salon and I would recommend it for any style of person you are! There is a stylist depending on the style of person you are. read more

I had a fabulous time here today! It could not have been any more wonderful! Cruz was amazing to watch as he worked his magic and Erica was a superb stylist. I had a blast and walked out feeling pretty!! That's a good feeling! The salon is very cool and the music enjoyable. I loved everything about it! Fun people, creative and talented! Oh, and did I mention adult beverages and plenty eye-candy! Some of the stylists are very "buff!!" Thanks a beautiful morning! read more

This review is solely based on Nails by Sandra O- Sandra is AMAZING! I love her so much and her work is outstanding! I always get so many compliments on my nails and am constantly handing out her card. You can tell that when you are in her chair she really cares about YOU and what you have to say. I make the drive from Bedford to Dallas once a month to see her and it is worth every minute and every penny! read more

After my hair stylist of many years left town and several bad experiences with other stylists; I decided to give Studio 1514 a try based on the recommendation of one of my friends. Natalie was super friendly and nice and did a good job giving me exactly what I asked for while still giving her input to improve my style. Studio 1514 is clean, modern, and upscale. All the staff were very friendly. I will definitely be back! It is worth the drive from the Frisco area to downtown Dallas for my great haircut. read more

I love getting my hair done at Studio 1514 by Cruz. He has been doing my husband and I's hair for years now. He always has great ideas if either of us want to change up our style or color. Everyone that works here is so stylish and trending so I always feel like I am getting a cutting edge updated hair cut. Their shampoo bowls are a big plus in my eyes they are so comfortable which is usually the part I hate most about getting my hair done. read more

I've only had one barber my entire life. And ever since I moved away from that shop. I've struggled to find a good barber. Finding a barber has always been scary to me because hair is a big deal! But I got told by a friend to check out Studio1514 and to schedule a appointment with Randy Ramirez. I did not regret that at all! He gave me a awesome cut and was so easy to talk to and he was a really cool guy! If your having a hard time finding a barber or trusting one, trust me when I say to ask for Randy and make him your new Barber! Thanks Randy! I will definitely return! read more

Cool salon downtown, with great big floor to ceiling style windows so you could see the action of a busy city. They've created a great atmosphere just walking in you feel confident they do good work. Dion did an AMAZING job on my hair cut and color, so lucky for me the first stylist I try in a new city and it came out fantastic. 10 out of 10 will be back. read more

I'm not a review writer but this needed to be said, FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!! It started with the receptionist, Stephanie, when I made the appointment (in person)she was nice and friendly, made me feel comfortable. This vibe didn't end with her, JADE was awesome! I asked for gray coverage and blonde highlights(my natural color is brown) and she delivered. I can see she is knowledgeable about color and cares for her clients. Highly recommend this gem!!!! read more

I wouldn't recommend getting hair extensions here. Don't believe the hype, my microbeads damaged my hair and I had to go somewhere else to even get them removed because they couldn't "fit me in" for over a month! They're overpriced and don't look as natural as my fusion extensions. Biggest waste of money ever. After my initial appointment to get the extensions put in, all the niceties went out the window and texts went unanswered. After getting fed up I ended up going to another salon that told me how poor of a job was done on me. They asked how much I paid and were shocked. Don't get me wrong, the salon was nice and my initial appointment was alright. However, it was my experience after that and how my extensions (even though I followed the maintenance instructions to the t) ended up in such a short time. Some even fell out while combing, one fell out the week I had them done. Big waste of money, and your hair will resent you for getting extensions done here--trust me. Take your money somewhere else. read more

I am thoroughly unimpressed! I been here a couple times and my recent visit with Cindy left me in tears! I assumed she knew what she was doing from her photos but I was clearly wrong. read more

I have gotten my hair done by "boy Alex" for over 2 years now. Not only has he always been able to get my hair to where I want it (super super white) he makes the experience one I look forward to every month. He is knowledgeable and if you are not happy he will fix it until you are. He will ask other stylists for advice and you can tell his is passionate about what he does. He doesn't take himself too seriously like some of the stylists do, and he actually has real talent. I would never let anyone else touch my hair and if for any reason he left studio 1514 I would follow him. Call Alex Gonzalez!! read more

Great salon, great staff, great hair! I love this place. Cruz and Cindy alway get the job done! Half, if not most of the time idk what I want to do to my hair but they always get it perfect! They use great technics and know what looks great! I've referred so many of my girlfriends and they all love them too. read more

I recently came here to get my hair colored and showed the girl (I won't say any names) the picture I wanted. I was there for about five hours and my hair not only was NOTHING like the picture I showed her, she also decided to try something she thought would be "cute" on me without letting me know she was doing it. My hair looked terrible and I had to immediately get it re-done after spending over $200 at Studio 15/14. As much as I wanted to get my money back, after being there for 5 hours, I was just ready to get out of there as fast as I could. read more

I TOTALLY LOVE THIS PLACE! Having lost contact with my stylists of 8 years I was nervous to try someone new. Me being extremely picky would be putting it mildly. Like my friends I have style I have taste and I certainly don't settle for anything but the best! My friend Brittany, who I hold high when it came to hair, suggested I check out Studio 1514. She told me the owner ONLY hires THE BEST. I walked in and was greeted by several stylists immediately, witch helped take the edge off. The Studio itself was very rich. The girl behind the desk offered me a glass of wine while I wait in the lounge area. This was "Very upscale stuff". I met my stylists Amanda within minutes. She had Mad Style so I knew she could be trusted. I gave her a quick idea of what I wanted, trying not to sound too picky, and she began cutting. I loved that she kept great conversations going, that to me was imortant even the other stylists joined us. I met the beautiful owner Natalie who's hair was surly blessed. Instantly I wasn't nervous anymore!! 25 minutes later she handed me the mirror and I was AMAZED!!!! She did a great job. Having someone new do your hair can be nerve-wracking, but Amanda totally blessed my game. On my way out the other stylists showered me with compliments with my new look. I almost didn't want to leave . Studio 1514 has a client for life!! read more

I was in town for the Margarita Ball and since I was staying just a block over at The Hampton, I figured I would book my up-do here to avoid traffic and I am so glad I did! I had Erica, who was just as sweet as can be and so lovely to talk to! I am not overly picky on my hair and I showed her a few pictures I had grabbed off Pinterest as a guide, showed her a picture of the gown I was wearing and told her I trust her professional opinion on what we should do! She did the most GORGEOUS up-do! I really loved my hair that entire night and received so many compliments and I was sad to take it down after. If you are ever in the area and need something done, this is your place! The entire staff is as friendly as can be and I did purchase a couple of their products that Erica used on me because I was obsessed with the smell. I will definitely be back here if I am ever in the Dallas Downtown area again! read more

I would give a NEGATIVE 5 stars is I could. I had been so impressed by the before and afters of Mermaid Hair aka Katie Rogers. I was excited to have my own transformation but to much of my dissatisfaction she HARDLY does any of the work. The consultation was a mearly 3 minutes long where she spent flirting with the guy beside her who was trying to cut a clients hair. On the appointment I spent nearly 30 minutes waiting for her to even show up to my appointment, at least 15 minutes in the chair while she took selfies, and another 5 while she texted before even starting my hair. Super unprofessional. She then treated her ENTIRE staff like slaves and had them running around for her. Never in my life have I seen a grown woman treat people like this and it left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. The one girl Haley ended up installing most of my hair and was extremely sweet, she then ended up styling me while Katie went about and opened "tail mail" and took snapchats. I almost wanted to refuse to pay katie and only pay her assistant Haley as she did most of the work. The ones Katie installed fell out within a week but Haleys are perfect. She had her other assistant jumping up every 5 minutes to do pointless things while she was trying to do her own work (katie should be able to turn the switch on for a curling iron by herself and take her own pictures) while the other assistant who was doing maintenances looked so high she could hardly have her eyes open. Her client looked extremely nervous the whole time I would never trust that assistant with my hair nor should anyone else.. I was very turned off by the whole situation and will NEVER step foot into this salon again. I will get my maintenance from someone else. All around bad experience I wanted to give Mermaid Hair a lesson in how to treat her employees. Save your money and go somewhere else that will actually value your business. read more
