They suggested a barber and I decided to give him a shot. I was very pleased with the haircut and additional services, and will visit again for sure! I was able to walk to the salon however, the parking situation here seems very tight so be mindful. There is a paid parking garage next door and an empty lot employees use for the Thompson Hotel, so you can park there as well.

Unfortunately, our regular stylist was out of town, so I called Lotus after reading great reviews. When I called, I specifically asked if they had someone there who specialized in color correction. I sent pictures of my daughter's hair so they could see what the job entailed. The person I spoke with assured me they had a stylist who could do it and scheduled an appointment. I spoke to the stylist after she looked at her hair, and she said fixing it wouldn't be a problem because her hair was in excellent condition. She told me it would be okay to use bleach to go back to being blonde. I had no reason not to trust her. I'll share the photos of what this 'stylist' did to her hair after being in her chair for 6 hours. She left high-volume bleach on her head for 45 minutes under infrared heat. I didn't go to beauty/hair school, but even I knew that was a mistake. My daughter spoke up, but the stylist assured her that it would be fine. It was not. She destroyed her hair beyond recognition - it was fried, with clumps of hair falling out. The stylist had to cut off 6 inches of her hair from the damage she had done, and the color is something you could not even imagine. This girl was new and did not have the experience to take on color correction - a novice. Someone -- the owner or a senior stylist should have monitored this and stepped in to take over, but no one did. The photos speak volumes - 1) daughter's natural blonde color 2) her as a brunette 3) daughter's attempt at lightening it 4) Lotus stylist results I tried to contact owners before this review, but there wasn't a direct email for either of them. Furthermore, there was no attempt from anyone to contact me or apologize to her. Unbelievable. If this were my business, I would be mortified. I wish I could give zero stars, but unfortunately, it's not an option.

I have extremely difficult hair to cut - fine and straight, and several scalp scars (from all the knife fights, and prison...), and didn't think an expensive haircut would be any better than Great Clips. But as much as it pains me to say, sometimes you get what you pay for, and this is true at Soge. I've been to Karen at Soge several times now, and I've been completely pleased with the results. My angelpumpkin has turned over creative control of her own hair to Karen for years. They also sell several hair care products from Bumble & Bumble and Prive - these salon products are completely foreign to me as a barbershop patron but some of you may recognize them. As an added bonus, they always have a copy of the NYT available for your reading pleasure while you're waiting. The location is a little out of the way in greater Decatur, but worth the trip for me at least...

When Sara cut my hair the 4th time it was styled, but had odd long pieces that I couldn't fit into anything. Not sure what that was). The last time she cut it very short even though I was clear I didn't want her to. This cut is not styled. Not to complain constantly, but if you buy a product from the salon the tip is calculated with the product included. This comes out to around an extra $20. I wanted to adjust it. Sara appeared angry, I'm a people pleaser, so I went along. Not sure if the other stylists do this. Sara does. Be careful. This is a real shame as the salon is part of my neighborhood. I liked walking there.

If you, too, decide a total look overhaul is in order, put yourself in Carl's hands. I was sitting in his chair per usual and he asked the typical "what do you want me to do this time?" (He's been asking me this for nearly 20 years now and we've had answers ranging from "just a couple inches" to "whatever you think") and I abruptly said "How would a bob look?" Y'all. I haven't gotten this many compliments on my hair in - maybe forever! He cut off five inches and about three years of angst and I, along with everyone who sees me, LOVE it.
