Plus all of the staff are friendly and helpful. I recently had a problem with my right eye which scared me. I woke up with sticking and tears streaming from my eye and I had problems seeing clearly from that eye. I thought it would soon go away but it didn't, it actually got worse. The following day I went into Thompson Eye Care but Dr Gerald wasn't there so I saw Dr Kathryn. She was super helpful and gentle with my eye. She ran thorough exams and explained everything she was doing. By the time she was through my eye felt a bit better and she called in prescription which I picked up that night and I was told to return the next day. The following day my eye felt better but still had the same symptoms this time I saw Dr Gerald who greeted me and told me Dr Kathryn apprised him of my problem. He ran a couple tests and took photos and he explained what he was seeing. He asked me some questions which made me realize that I had wiped my eye with a tissue and it scratched my eye. This caused the discomfort and an infection. This is the reason I have been coming to this place for my eye care. This father/daughter team is super able to make me feel taken care of. Over the years I have had my eye problems handled effectively, they are both patient and helpful. I actually know a couple of neighbors who also come here and they both love their services.

The optician who unlocked the door after I rang the bell said he would check to see if they had the parts. When he didn't return immediately I knew they did, and that gave me time to appreciate the extreme covid measures: wide distancing, universal masking, hand sanitizer on every counter. 10 minutes, $10, and my cherished Zeiss shades should be good for another 20 years. I'm a fan!

He asked me how i was with my glasses. i started to answer that unfortunately i didn't use my glasses for a year because when i walked, i saw a hole on the floor. he did not like my situation because i was not happy with his prescription. i told him, how am i going to be happy if i can't see with the lenses, and he replied, if not, then you can go to another doctor. for me, that was not professional because he does not listen to his patients, how they feel. he charges for the service; it is not free. i pay for my insurance; it is not given to me. i do not pay a doctor to be treated badly, but for the medical service. if he didn't sleep well Friday night, it's not to take it out on his patients, not because of the medical service. I spoke with the manager she only listened to my discontent i know she can't do anything just listen to the customers i pay for them to help me with my health, not for them to mistreat me as if they are providing the service for free. he needs to learn be more empathy listen those patients concern. the day was words experience in my life early in my life 9am he md but he needs to respect patient not unrespect people his doing the service for free. the staff very nice

My only complaint was the gadget they use to dial down the prescription to "which is better? 1 or 2?" The lenses on that machine were dirty and it was difficulty to see through the foggy lenses. I had three appointments at this establishment and quickly learned that unless you make an appointment to be one of the first patients you will wait for hours. That is unless you are the first patient of the day and the doctor you are scheduled to see if always late, and I mean late by 45 minutes or more. This was known by the schedulers and the optometrist assistants as when I mentioned I had been waiting for over an hour they stated that the doctor I was scheduled to see is always running late then takes her time eating her breakfast before seeing patients. After my second appointment of being prescribed 4 products three of which I had to purchase from them I realized that this place is a money grab. They want to continue pushing you to purchase their products instead of a resolution. I wanted to be sized for hard contacts as my optometrist had already confirmed I was the ideal candidate for it; however they stated they wished to continue meds. I made the decision after my third appointment that this was not the place for me. I never had an appointment where the waiting room was not full to the point patients were sitting in the hallway. Not the type of establishment I will support.

I would say that service was four stars, but tech issues would be three stars…read more I reached out to this practice about two hours before it opened through its online intake form. Basically, the intake form was to ensure that a patient's insurance was accepted. Fortunately for me, someone from the office called me within 10-15 minutes of the office opening, and I was able to secure a same day appointment for my eye situation. Upon arriving to the Silver Spring location, I saw that the office has a couple of kiosks that patients must use to check it. Ok, I get that on paper this probably seemed like a good idea. Also, nowadays, I think businesses want to show forward-thinking by incorporating technology into everything (whether it's needed or not). However, the problem (IMO) with using a kiosk at an eye care center is that many patients (like me) probably will not be able to see too well. Also, many elderly patients probably will not have the ability (and patience) to use these sorts of machines. In fact, while waiting for my turn, I noticed that the workers at the front desk had to help most of the patients with the kiosks. The doctor that helped me out was pretty nice and very compassionate regarding my situation. Fortunately for me, my eye issue was pretty straightforward and required very minimal medical intervention. Phew. While preparing to leave, the doctor sent my prescription to my local pharmacy and provided a paper copy of the 'script'. Unfortunately, when I arrived to my pharmacy about 45 minutes after my visit, the pharmacy had not received the script. No worries because I had the paper copy script as a backup. Even the doctor mentioned that they gave me the paper copy because they weren't sure if the prescription would go through electronically. Unfortunately, the doctor did not include their printed name or their license number, so the pharmacy could not fill the prescription. Because of this situation, the pharmacy and I had to call the eye care center several times to have the prescription sent to the pharmacy. I will say the folks from the eye center who helped me with this technical issue were very nice, but it was kind of annoying that a process that's supposed to take a few minutes ended up taking an hour. Perhaps, this tech situation is not common for the eye center and I was unlucky to experience it.

The reception staff were polite, welcoming, and knowledgeable, making the check-in process smooth and efficient. The doctors were kind, professional, and took the time to ensure everything went well during my visit. Overall, it was a positive experience from start to finish. I'll definitely be returning and would recommend them to others looking for quality eye care.
