I highly recommend Dr. Summerfield. This is my second positive review in a couple years. I have…read moregreat confidence in him and feel safe in his care. His professionalism and skill are exceptional. He sets a high standard for ophthalmology. He saved my eyesight and went above and beyond to find a solution to my vision loss when another doctor couldn't. I am so happy I found Dr. Summerfield. His offices are well equipped, beautiful and the staff well qualified and helpful. You might have to wait a little, but believe me - it is well worth it!

Mywellness eye appointment today:with Washington eye Institute…read more in Greenbelt Maryland. My appointment was at 2:15 PM Today Tuesday December 2, 2025 I received the standard text a few days prior to confirm my appointment which I did. The day of don't forget to arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment today Text arrived too. I arrived for my appointment promptly at 1:50 PM, which is 25 minutes before my appointment. I checked in at the desk and was told to have a seat some one would call you back soon. I noticed the waiting room was pretty much totally full with almost every chair taken. At 3:30 PM, I was finally called to the back where I was escorted and told to have a seat and they would be with me shortly to take me to the exam room. Apparently the process at Washington eye Institute is similar to waiting for a Disney ride. So approximately 3:45 I was escorted to a room where they began running some Tests and After one Test. I was told I'd have to wait as the next machine was being used. This process took a while. Finally the machine was Available and after that test was told to have another seat in the hall again and they will call me to another room. At approximately 4:20 PM. I was escorted to another room where they performed another eye test and I was given eyedrops to dilate my eyes. Then I was escorted back into the hall and told to wait where other patients were waiting wondering who would be the next lucky patient to go back to another room At this point, I struck up a conversation with other patients whose appointments were at 2 o'clock and 2:15 PM and such patients becoming quite irritated with the long wait. It's interesting. They want you there on time but seem to have no regards for your time once you've checked in and paid your co-pay At 4:50 I was escorted to another room where they told me to have a seat and the doctor would be in shortly. Finally at 4:55 PM the doctor came into the room and proceeded to give me an eye exam. At this point I voiced displeasure and that this had happened before and I thought the office was very unorganized with respect to scheduling and long waiting time. if there was a staff shortage and knew there would be a long waiting period they should' contact the patient to reschedule or offer them the opportunity to reschedule. The doctor was apologetic and told me to see the office manager when I checked out. Upon checking out I asked to speak to the office manager, Her name is Dana and I was told Dana had left earlier which I find interesting that she's not there to try and coordinate the chaos with how late the appointments ran. The lady checking me out, asked me if I had sunglasses since my eyes were dilated. I looked out the window and said well it's dark outside. I don't think I'll be needing them. . The first time for me is ignorance. The second time is stupidity on my part as this isn't the first time I've had this issue with Washington eye Institute running very late. I will be looking for a new ophthalmologist and I Will NOT be patronizing Washington Institute in the future. I am done. In closing, if you like long Disney wait time rides, make an appointment with Washington eye Institute in Greenbelt Maryland.

Tolkien's 'The Hobbit,' Thorin Oakenshield,…read moredwarf leader, tells Bilbo Baggins, "You're our burglar, go burgle something" outside the crimson dragon Smaug's lair on Lonely Mountain. Dr. Desai, much like Tolkien's protagonist in the Hobbit, is a specialist, a retinal ophthalmologist to be precise; and, if you require such expertise, he fits the bill much better than Baggins fits his anticipated role. The reasons why one may be referred to a retinal ophthalmologist can be as unsettling as the obstacles in Bilbo's adventure, and the long wait times and Dr. Desai's bedside manner, much like Gandalf's, sometimes leave a lot to be desired, but his expertise is much needed and welcome.

During this stressful time, Dr. Desai was always professional and courteous, his approach conservative. He took his time and patiently answered all of my questions during every visit. He was deliberate and meticulous during every examination. He clearly explained my options and potential results. He was always realistic about setting my expectations. During the vitrectomy, Dr. Desai was intensely yet calmly focused. I followed his recovery instructions and now enjoy excellent vision in that eye. I am forever grateful to him. I can't recommend him strongly enough.

Dr. Sobol knows how to communicate and educate his patients to feel comfortable and at ease. At times I can be soft spoken with a comedian personality and Dr.Sobol appreciated it and has a sense of humor hisself! I am so nervous for my surgery and my left eye because of how bad the situation is but Dr.Sobol and my family gave me the confidence that I can do this and save my eye What I would recommend is a shorter wait time and the coffee/tea area supplied with proper ingredients to be filled, if the wait time is going to be long. Wish me luck

I originally started going to RGW Greenbelt because someone said Dr. Hooten was really good - and…read moreshe was! Very kind and caring and so are the staff but she's gone now and I can no longer overlook the lack of timeliness of care. Whether your appointment is at 8:30 or 10:30 it will take an hr to be seen by anyone. Another 30 to be seen by the doctor once you're dilated. So during my recent appointment I was there 2 hours - and this was just a routine check in. I can busy myself with work but there are a lot of older people who probably spend a good chunk of their days in this one doctor's office. The doctors themselves are good but I don't have 2 hours for an appointment that literally takes under 45 minutes altogether. There's literally no point in showing up on time. If I could make an appt, and show up an hour into the appt time I would absolutely do that.
