I was hoping to finally, after 20 years and 5 or 6 pairs of progressive lens glasses through those 20 years, get a pair that I could acclimate to and use full time. I never had any success. None of them ever worked well enough to be useful and ended up in the junk drawer. The first pair of progressive lens glasses I bought from Dr. Koon worked PERFECTLY for distance but I still could not use them for close up reading. I really just thought it must be ME or MY EYES so I just used them for distance/driving/tv etc. and switched to my computer glasses for all close up reading. When I went back for my yearly check up in early 2026 I explained what I just described above to her and she was very concerned and disappointed that I hadn't let them know so I could get reevaluated and get it fixed. But, like I said, I truly just thought it was me and pretty much resigned myself to always needing 2 pairs of glasses. Dr. Koon assured me that was not the case and she was determined to get this resolved with positive results. I ordered a new pair of progressive lens glasses (kept my old ones to use strictly for driving when I need sun glasses because they work perfect for that). When the new glasses came in I took them home and wore them for several weeks. I had a follow up appointment for an eye issue 6 weeks later and when I was there for that she asked about the progressive lenses. I told her, nope, they still don't work for reading close up and she was so concerned. She did a repeat thorough exam (which I was not there for) and remeasured where the correction lenses should start and end while I was wearing them. After measuring she said, they seem to be off by just a teeny-weenie bit, so minute that it wouldn't bother most people. She decided I'm not most people and that tiny bit of adjustment was needed for them to work for me so she sent them back to the manufacturer with the minor adjustment. I just went back in recently to pick them up and OH MY GOODNESS - THEY ARE ACTUALLY WORKING FOR ME!!!! As I'm sitting here writing this review I'd really rather be in her shop thanking her in person (which I'll do soon). The time and care she spent with me was so very appreciated and I could not be happier with my new frames and progressive lenses that actually are perfect for my eyes. AND, I must also mention her front office staff! These ladies are so friendly and welcoming, eager to help with whatever is needed and definitely will go the extra mile for a task when needed. So, if you're in need of a new eye doctor I am giving her the highest recommendation I could possibly give - it is such a relief to finally have glasses that work perfectly for my eyes and I will look forward to visiting her office for any reason just to say hello to her wonderful staff.

After calling several offices, I was unable to get an emergency appointment. Thankfully, when I called Capital Eye, Dr. Mark Gonzalez recognized that I needed to be seen and was able to schedule an appointment right away. Let me first mention that his staff was extremely nice (which is important since they are the first impression for a doctor) and they seem to work well together as a team. More importantly, I found Dr. Gonzalez to be WONDERFUL. He was very friendly, pleasant and thorough with my examination (even when he chastised me for wearing my lenses overnight). He explained my condition without me having to Google to understand and contacted me the next day to follow up. I really appreciate the care I received and I am happy to entrust my eye care to him. I would recommend Dr. Gonzalez (and his staff) HIGHLY.

(Looking back- I am happier it worked out this way- no flap!). The staff and Doctors are extremely personable and friendly and truly made me feel comfortable, which is important in any setting, but especially when your eyes are involved it is a bit of a scary surgery to commit to. I drove all the way from Vienna VA to go to this office and would absolutely say it was worth the drive. I would recommend to anyone who is considering lasik or prk to go here. Everything is very clean, and professional and they explain everything thoroughly and take their time. The office is very busy, but I never felt like I was just another patient. Something else I really liked about the office is that they keep it dark.(not DARK but they don't use a lot of bright fluorescent bulbs) Sounds weird, but after surgery or after having your eyes dilated this was a nice added bonus. A good example of how I felt they went the "extra mile" The fact that they did enough testing to decide that LASIK wasn't the best choice for me was impressive. I have had two doctors tell me that LASIK would be fine, but the testing they did was not nearly as extensive. I am grateful because I probably would have just gotten lasik, even though it isn't the best option for my eyes. Kind of scary to think there are doctors out there that will just do a surgery without paying that much attention. I am glad now that each time I thought I was ready for the surgery I chickened out, so I could finally find this office. Highly, Highly recommended!

Most concerning was the office's response after acknowledging that an employee had entered the order incorrectly. Rather than taking accountability and correcting the mistake, we were told that we would be required to pay the additional difference in cost to receive the lenses we had originally requested and believed we had already paid for when we ordered the glasses. Mistakes can happen. However, customers should be able to expect accurate information, properly processed orders, and a fair resolution when an office acknowledges that an error was made on its end.

I took a picture of where in the front desk she is sitting. (Desk that's close to a wall of pictures) It's not even 10am yet and to treat a patient that's confused about check-in so rudely is uncalled for. The front desk is the first point of contact for the entire office. Ironically it's Halloween and the lady is wearing a witches hat.
