This is a pretty cool location. Went in for a routine eye examination and to change my prescription in my glasses and get a prescription in my sunglasses. I came directly after work, so I got there 20 minutes before my actual appointment and I was seen in less than 10 minutes after I got there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The doctor on staff was very knowledgeable and my exam went well. Although I'm not in the market for new glasses I did glance at some of the glasses on display and they have a nice variety of designer frames. I can't really comment on prices because depending who your insurance carrier is, the prices may be higher or lower for some. I came to this office when it was the Bowie Optometry Group and they were truly my favorite (hence the reason My Eye Dr got 4 stars) but since the doctors from that practice has moved too far for me, I can see myself coming back to this location. read more

Based on our experience, including repeated errors in processing our insurance, inaccurate information about what was included at the time of purchase, and the incorrect submission of our neurodiverse child's specialized lens order, I CANNOT recommend MyEyeD at 6804 Race Track Rd, Bowie, MD 20715. Most concerning was the office's response after acknowledging that an employee had entered the order incorrectly. Rather than taking accountability and correcting the mistake, we were told that we would be required to pay the additional difference in cost to receive the lenses we had originally requested and believed we had already paid for when we ordered the glasses. Mistakes can happen. However, customers should be able to expect accurate information, properly processed orders, and a fair resolution when an office acknowledges that an error was made on its end. read more

I Do Not recommend the 6804 Race Track Rd. Bowie, MD location if you have an emergent eye concern/injury. They will turn you away and deny you care. I booked an appointment online to be seen by a opthamologist and was turned away and told to go to Patient First. I explained to them it is an eye emergency and the provider did not triage or look at my eye before denying me care. I told them I took off work for this appt and they did not care. The DR is good. My main complaint is the glasses were supposed to be shipped to me but they were sent to the store without my knowing. How long the glasses have been sitting there, I have no idea, because no one ever called, left a voice mail, or emailed me to let me know they were in. Frankly, I'm disappointed. This location is kind of out of the way but I like it -- which is why I go. But I'm not sure I'll be returning because it was inconvenient. They'll likely be sitting there a good month before I get to them, and who knows if anyone will ever call to let me know. It also doesn't help they're closed on Sundays. Days off are hard to come by and this feels inconvenient as all hell. read more

I bought contact lenses from this location in hopes that I would receive a good customer experience and affordable pricing. Instead, what I received was a company just out to make some money and never trying to truly improve the situation for me. I wasted $300 opting for contacts that only lasted me 6 months, because the prescription was off the entire time. Even when I went back to get it adjusted and I met with the female eye doctor, who had a horrible attitude by the way, they still didn't fully correct it, even when I let her know the nature of this issue. Excellent Customer Service! I came in today as a walk-in referral and was not disappointed. Raymel assisted and also educated me on the different lens thickness for polycarbonate and coatings for protection as I was paying all this time over the years at other locations for the standard. I really appreciate his time and not being rushed as this is an investment for your eyes. I HIGHLY recommend this location. I even received a detailed print out of my insurance plan and he also broke down in all the coverage and best options. I now scheduled an appointment for my family as well. read more

This place has the worst customer service. I took my son there for an eye examination. Not only did we have to wait to be seen by a technician for an hour,and when she finally saw my son she rushed through his initial exam before seeing the doctor she was off base on her images taken of his eyes and the incorrect prescription was provided to him after the exam therefore I had to take him back for another exam! Absolutely ridiculous!!! I called this office this morning as I lost my glasses and need them replaced. Was told that I needed to come in for an eye exam. Explained to the receptionist that I am about to undergo chemo therapy which will likely CHANGE my prescription and that I'd like to wait until after treatment(s) before coming in, and in the long-term having to pay for two sets exams and glasses, that I would simply like to order a replacement pair of glasses and schedule the exam for a later date. She checked with "someone" - came back to the phone stating the same, no eye exam - no glasses. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!! Why would this company expect me to pay for an exam in order to replace a pair of glasses that is working fine, and to then pay for an additional exam in 2-3 months after treatments - and then pay for another pair of glasses???? I've been going to this location for years. I had to get driving glasses do to failing the eye test at Motor Vehicle, the glasses they made for me were totally un-usable and when I called to tell them that I was told that my perscription was only good for 6 months and I was over that time. I was not told this when I purchased the glasses and they charged me for classes based on an expired prescription. i've been going to this location for 18 years with minimal issues. Today i went in for my annual appt at 10am. During my check in I was told I had a $44 copay (i've never paid a "copay") so i asked what it was for .... i was told its for the retina scan. i stated i did not want the retina scan and the young lady told me it was "mandatory for the doctor". I will be finding a new eye dr because it's no reason i should pay for a "copay" when technically it's not even a copay. ridiculous. read more

I have been going to this location in Bowie for years. Chanel the day went to get my exam actually told me my insurance benefits were not allowed. I knew it was more than 2 years she stated no one year. Which was Not true my insurance paid. No offering of second pair at discount price, which is right on an advertisement in the store. I stated I was having trouble driving at night and knew my cataracts were getting worse. New optometrist she did not dilate my eyes one of the indications for eye dilation is cataracts and people over 60, which by my record there I have. Chanel waited on me for fitting my eyeglasses - no measurements for progressive lenses taken, checking the ear piece length really. I observed the other employee, who was checking the progressive lenses for his new glasses, checking to make sure the glass frame was suitable for his face and prescription. I knew right then and there I was treated wrong in fitting of my glasses besides I always had received the proper service there. Chanel walked back got my glasses like it was a chore to get up and actually work. No pleasant words she got the glasses handed them to me - I put them on Only when I said some about the progressive lenses she handed me the paper to read but never asked me anything. Never checked the glasses fit much less the place of the ear piece going over my ears. I had to say to go tighten them. she brought them back handed me a bag I asked if the cleaner and cloth was in it finally said yes. I just picked up my bag and left. Chanel needs to be trained or find a job where she does not deal with the public. read more

MyEyeDr at Race Track Rd in Bowie has provided a great experience so far. The front desk staff, especially Sharifa and David, were very courteous and helpful. I had an issue with the first pair of lenses not working well for me. Upon returning for a re-check, the staff was helpful in getting me seen that same day. Chevelle was an absolute pro and pleasure to talk to, as was my remote tech and doctor. Amazing technology is enabling these eyecare professionals to work from anywhere. I posted comments online at google maps.com about the experience I had on Saturday, January 22, 2021, at the Bowie Race Track Road location. I was denied service by Dr. Cerina Buchanan after being told when I arrived at my appointment that there was a 10 minute grace period. My appointment was at 12:00 pm, and unfortunately, I went to the wrong location that was less than 10 minutes away. When I realized my mistake I immediately called Dr. Buchanan's office to let the staff know I was en route. When I spoke with a receptionist I wasn't told then or before my visit there was a 10 minute grace period, the receptionist just said, ok. When I arrived at 12:10, I signed in and was told to be seated. Shortly, a receptionist came out and told me about the 10 minute grace period and the doctor refused to see me. The customer service I received was terrible, and what I experienced should never happen again to anyone. The store's policy on lateness should be shared upfront with the customers not when they arrive. Dr. Buhannan made it clear she couldn't see me because she was going to lunch. Interesting. Is that how a reputable business respond to customers? If so, your customer service policy should be reevaluated. read more

I showed up only to be told that someone overbooked my slot online! I explained that I called INTO the location to book my appointment. The eye doctor was thorough, and made me realize the effects my bad habits were having on my eyes, and sight. I'm always apprehensive about going to the eye doctor for some reason, but I'll definitely be coming back here next year when it's time for another eye exam. This is THE best MyEyeDr store around. The entire staff made me feel as if I was their only customer. The wait time was not bad at all. The doctor was very knowledgeable of my case and patiently explained everything to me. The front desk staff was very warm, funny and easy to speak with. It did not matter if I asked too many questions either. They answered them all. If they were not sure of the answer, they were honest enough to let me know that as well and worked to get the answers for me. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. I went in for an eye exam for contact lenses and walked away with them telling me I owed close to $500. Prior to my appointment I called my insurance company and found out they were in network and called their office who verified my insurance would cover my exam. When I questioned the cost of my eye exam, I was told I had to speak with the store manager Lovey, who was not present and told she would call me and then they proceeded to take away the samples of contact solution given by the Dr. I walked out with nothing... not even trial lenses! I went back to the store and met with Lovey the store manager and was told that the eye exam is $225 but I still felt that was outrageous as my other exams with this office has never cost as much. She said there was nothing that she could do and that she already consulted with her district manager and that I would be billed one way or the other and they would not order trials lenses until I paid the bill. I reached out to customer relations at the corporate office who was able to reduce my eye exam down to 179; however, I also learned of a special they were running advertising contact eye exam and lenses for $199 for a year. I was told that I didn't qualify because that was only for a spherical eye exam in spherical lenses which she explained many people don't qualify and she gets calls all the time because people are charged more than $199. The customer service rep tried to help me and ordered my trial lenses for me but when I went back to the store to pick them up I met with some resistance and refusal to give me sample eye clear care solution she previously gave me and took back (small detail but speaks to lack of customer service). I also saw a large sales chart for July on the wall in the office that their goal was over $145,000 in sales and to date they have already exceeded $15,000. This got me thinking about Commission and whether they value the patient or sales more so I looked online and found employee reviews which were not positive. Two employees said all they care about is sales numbers and the other said they only care about the money. I still have no contacts and I need a follow up for my trials as I can not see clearly. I have been to several location for my eye's exam. Since I live close to this location, I decided to give them a shot. I waited almost 3 weeks to have my lens replaced (At other location the max will be 10 days). It is only after I gave them a call that they realize that my order was taking too long. I was very disappointed by their customer service. Their staff don't smile. It is just like they are not happy to be at work. On the phone they are super aggressive and will hangout the phone on you. I pick up my glasses this morning the young lady didn't bother to pack my classes properly (no plastic bag) She handed me everything with no smile. Because of the staff I will never go back to this location. The Doctor is great. I wish she had the right staff. I sincerely apologize to you Doctor for writing this review. I strongly believe that your staff need some training. Otherwise, they will keep patients away from your practice. read more

The eye doctor who saw me was very sweet, competent and overall wonderful! The reason for my 3-star rating is the front desk lady: She's very abrupt and sounded like she has better things to do than to book my appointment and answer my questions--which is her job to begin with! I recommend the doctor without hesitation, but her front desk staff needs to undergo some serious training in customer service. read more

I scheduled an appointment with this location earlier in the week for Thursday, The rep on the phone (Donovan) was very cordial, checked my insurance to verify coverage and ensured all was well for my upcoming appointment. I took the time off from work and guess what??!! When I arrived on Thursday, I was told by the front desk I was not in the system. My name is hyphenated, so I requested the rep check by my married name. Bingo, my name was found but no appointment was scheduled. I was not a happy camper. The only solution provided was we can see you at another time. The dr even came out heard the conversation and just called the next patient. No apologies. No, we will do our best to see you now. I went to this location through a deal on living social. My experience there was great. As soon as I walked through the door I was attended to, I had my eye size measured and then went straight to the eye exam. The DR was nice, he was informative and patient. The retinal photos were taken and not covered by my social deal so that I wasn't too happy about. The next portion took a little long because the attendant had a customer with a child that were taking forever to choose a pair of glasses. I had already picked out the glasses I was interested in while waiting so it was quick process once he was ready. The social deal works as a discount in each category. The eye exam was completely covered, there was an extra charge of 30 dollars for the retinal photos, 11 extra for insurance. As always the frames and lenses are crazy expensive so there was still money left over to pay for the glasses after my 250 of allowance through my living social deal. They also have a "deal" to upgrade lenses at 50% off so I upgraded the lenses on my old pair. 150 for the lenses was a bit expensive in my taste but they were for night, and non reflective and it has been a LONG time since I got glasses. All in all I had a great experience, the customer service was great but beware the prices are really tough if you are trying to be frugal. read more

I very rarely purchase glasses since I wear my contacts all the time, but I figured it was time after 5 years since my last new pair, and I have new insurance. I went to My Eye Dr. once before in White Marsh and then moved to Crofton, so I am now going to the Bowie location. They could not have been more helpful and took me right on time. After I said that I hardly ever wear my glasses, they did not try to steer me to more expensive frames than those covered for free by my insurance, although I did try on and like a pair that would have cost an extra $100, but I decided to spend a little extra on the non-scratch coating instead. My glasses came in in less than a week, and they fit perfectly and I saw very clearly. The whole process was quick and easy. read more

I have to write a review for the reception/optical staff here in this office. I have visited four times, and they are all very responsive, efficient, and FRIENDLY. And, exceptionally professionally dressed--which I appreciate. The eye doctor was nice enough when I saw her, but that part of the experience feels a little "car wash" -choose your service, move on through...not that I think she didn't do her job, it's just not very personal or individually-tailored to those with difficult cases, I feel. This was first visit to MyEyeDr and this location! My appointment was on time, the doctor was friendly and very knowledgeable, she showed and explained to me my retina eye images which were pretty cool to see the back of my eye, my veins and the health of my eye. I am a long term contact and glasses wearer. I've received both a contact eye exam and an regular eye exam both in same day, and I ordered a years worth of contacts and brand new frames and lenses. The staff were friendly everyone was smiling they all asked me how my day was going. It was a pleasant and quick visit! I definitely will be going here from now on and will be referring my family and friends! Oh and they had a great selection of glasses from all different types of styles and brand names which was nice too! read more

I went to have my yearly eye exam couple of days ago. When I scheduled my appointment the front desk lady asked my last 4 digit of my social. I unfortunately gave it to her while I should have not. Also I gave her my insurance information. Next day I had my exam. The doctor was professional and kind. When I had to check out they told me at the front desk I have a copay. I know my insurance and I told the man no I don't have. We were back and forth when he said with Aetna you have to pay copay. I said I don't have Aetna that's not my insurance!!! I was mad because when I scheduled my appointment I provided my insurance information. So I gave him my insurance card. Here comes again the lady asking me front of everyone in the waiting area my last 4 SSN! I love the doctor but I don't think I ever go back to this place. And they should not ask my SSN not even the last 4! read more

I was given the wrong pair of glasses after receiving notice that my glasses were ready. They gave me someone else's glasses without verifying my identity. This is a HUGE red flag. The manager was so unhelpful throughout the whole process. Turns out they "lost" my glasses and had to re-order them. Whole thing took 2 1/2 weeks which is ridiculous. Please do not go to this clinic if you don't want a lot of headache. I ordered contact lenses online and they could not fulfill my order because when they contacted this clinic, there was a problem with my prescription. I called the clinic and when I talked to the receptionist, she first said your prescription was back in 2012, then looked again and found the most recent prescription (that was the problem!). They also put in an incorrect email address on file so I didn't receive my prescription. Then receptionist Teyes hanged up on me while I was in the middle of asking her a question. So much headache.
