You want a real neighborhood hardware store? Well here it is. Big box stores have their place but for convenience and service Strunk Ace Hardware has them totally beat. Individual nuts and bolts. Weird fasteners. Different gauge and type wire by the foot. The staff know their stuff and will take you directly to it. Custom paint colors. They know their customers and what they will likely need. There is very few times working in the contractor world you run into supplier who knows their trade to the subject matter expert level. If you want a subject matter expert in hardware head to this location and speak with Jim! Hands down the most knowledgeable person when it comes to hardware and fasteners. Helped us thru a critical installation to a specialized material. Plus the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. I walked in and explained my issue and the lady at the front directed me to the back in the hardware section. The staff in the back help me achieve the gold on my project. Once again if you have a hardware or fastener problem head here and go find Jim he has the knowledge to solve the problem. read more

It's been in Key West for 75 years so probably be there if you need something for your house tomorrow. It's the only place I know on Key West that has all your home repair or remodeling needs. I really like the antique decor on the walls the prices seem competitive and the staff was nice and helpful. Lots of parking if you need to load your pickup. read more

Needed stink bug spray but couldn't find it. Cashier said I could have them order it and sent me to the order window. I showed Sherry the picture of the product I was looking for and she looked it up. Ace didn't stock it so she looked up several more products with no luck. Sherry looked up the ingredients of the product I wanted and looked at the products on the shelf until she find an identical product. This was exemplary service read more

I came in for a cutting board and left with that and recommendations for grocery stores and activities from one of the friendly employees. Best hardware store in Key West, hands down. Yes, their products sometimes cost more than those at Home Depot, but guess what? If you ask them to price match, they'll usually accommodate you. And as far as knowledge goes, they're light years ahead of Home Depot. Here's an example: I got a key copied at Home Depot, and when I got home, I found out it didn't fit the lock. I went to Strunk's, told them what happened (and showed them the Home Depot copied key), and the manager told me that I needed a brass key instead of aluminum. When I got home, the copied key fit the lock BETTER than the original! AND it was cheaper than Home Depot. It's pretty rare that I'm delighted by a store, but Strunk's gives me good vibes, a valuable commodity in Key West. This isn't a knock on Home Depot; it's a bigger store with a wider selection of goods. But Strunk's crushes them as far as customer service and overall knowledge of hardware is concerned. read more

Stopped on my way home from breakfast. I like the early hours. Was greeted by a friendly woman at the entrance., guided to the paint, a man there helped me find what I needed and I was on my way quickly. Small store service where my business was appreciated. Bike Man loves hardware and this is the place to get it. The people at Strunk all.....know what they're talking about! That is very nice in this day and age. The store cares hard to find marine grade hardware and has a wide assortment of stainless steel nuts and bolts. Bike Man finds all of the hard to find things at ACE. Keep up the good work! read more

Ever time I enter this store I feel like I am a bother. I try to give them my business but they just don't seem to want to help. Very unfriendly staff. Once I went to have keys made, OH MY! I thought I was asking them to do something illegal. They moaned, but made the copies. Since then, I go to Home Depot to get key copied. Another time I asked for help with ordering some rockers. OH MY! You would have thought I was asking them to 'make' them for me. I didn't order the rockers, I ordered them online from Home Depot and had them delivered to my house. Just today I went in to get some prints made. OH MY! The man at the front counter said "We are too busy, can you come back later?" I said thanks but we have other options. I am emailing them to Office Depot and will pick them up later. I am finished with trying to support this store. I have more options in Key West that are willing to help. read more
