Contacted on a Saturday for a move the one week for the following Monday. (Week and a half away) I knew it was short notice, but we spoke on Saturday and he sent me the details to send back to him (area, my contact info) to complete a quote. We were looking for help only to move items and boxes. He said he can supply a truck as well and would include that in the quote. I allowed him through Sunday to get the quote. Monday morning spoke and he said he would dig through his texts for the info and would work on it. Tuesday tried to call - could only leave message and sent text. No response. Wednesday afternoon, attempted to call, left message and he THEN left a text only saying no one available to help. So now we are scrambling. Another mover said movers like Strong Oak are not "legal" movers and don't have insurance or workers comp. I specifically asked Strong Oak if they are insured and carry workers comp and was informed they use an employment service who covers workers comp. I asked if he can send proof of that and he said yes, but I suspect I fell for a lie or at the least a misstatement. I realize we did this on short notice, but I could have used those two days (from Monday to Wednesday) to attempt to locate help elsewhere. read more

The Strong Oak men saved the day for me! I had hired some helpers who assisted me to pack up my apartment during the month of November, 2022, and move my belongings into my local storage unit. The plan was to do the final load two days before my lease expired. On the morning of the final day, they called to tell me they didn't want to work anymore. I had been paying them very well, and it was apparent that they were living large on what I'd already paid them, and they had no sense of professionalism, loyalty, or responsibility. It's good that I planned the final move a couple of days before my lease expired, because now I was scrambling. Things looked grim until Jose from Strong Oak called me back. He had another pending job but told me that the important thing was to get me out of my apartment on time. He offered to keep my belongings in his big trailer on his lot until he could schedule the next leg of putting my items in my storage unit. The next morning he sent two great men who loaded everything into their trailer. Jose himself arrived a little later with news that his other pending job was postponed. So, they were able to put all of my belongings into my storage unit same day. They even had to rearrange the previous guys' placements. AND his fee was extremely reasonable considering the emergency nature of the job. I knew up front what to expect re: cost and was happy to pay it. Moving is always stressful but Jose and crew were so positive and encouraging. Jose is a problem solver. He makes it happen. The work ethic displayed by all of the Strong Oaks is invaluable. I now have to move my belongings cross country, but I'm at ease because Jose told me that when I'm ready, he has the resources to get everything loaded and moved (and can even arrange to hire people to unload at the destination). I needed a large aquarium moved. These guys did an amazing job way beyond what i was expecting. The move was from the garage to the den. I was expecting that they will just carry cabinet and aquarium and then set it. However, they took time to wrap up the cabinet and the aquarium before they carried each one to make sure nothing got scratched. And they also made measurements to make sure aquarium is correctly centered in the room. I am very appreciative of their care and respect for my property.
