This was the first time my boyfriend and I had gone together to look at vehicles, and honestly we were extremely nervous going into it. Our previous vehicle turned into a nightmare and we spent months putting more money into repairs than the car was even worth, so this was a huge deal for us. From the moment we met Drew "The Car Dude" North, everything felt different. He genuinely made us feel comfortable, cared about, and understood throughout the entire process. He never once made us feel pressured or treated us like just another sale. He listened to every concern we had, answered every question honestly, and took the time to really talk with us instead of talking at us. You could tell he truly cared about helping us find the right vehicle and making sure we felt good about our decision. He was so personable and easy to talk to that it honestly felt like we had known him forever. We cracked jokes the whole time and somehow he turned what should have been a stressful experience into one that was actually exciting and enjoyable. That meant a lot to us considering how anxious we were walking in. We ended up getting a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and we absolutely love it already. Drew even went above and beyond to make sure the vehicle was ready for us that same day even though it had not been serviced or detailed yet. The amount of effort, patience, and care he put into everything truly stood out. Also huge thank you to Steve in finance. He was amazing to work with and helped make everything smooth, easy to understand, and stress free. The website was easy to use, the reviews were great, and after experiencing everything ourselves, I completely understand why people speak so highly of this dealership. Thank you all for making such an important moment in our lives feel exciting instead of overwhelming.

There is not one hand sanitizing bottle in sight. Plenty of sales people walking around, wanting to shake your hand. There is a whole entire restaurant in there. Is hygiene not important any more?

Carmax itself is a wonderful company that I have dealt with many times. The ability to browse the lot and enter any car is really helpful, and the fact that the salespeople don't pressure you is amazing. However, Lexington kind of drops the ball beyond that. First of all, the location isn't ideal. It's insular, and far from any highways. This means when you test drive a car, you don't get any experience driving over 45 mph, so you never get a feel for how the car handles at higher speeds. This isn't something that can be helped, and is one of the design flaws of the city itself if we're being honest. However, something that can be changed is the length of the test drive route. It was disappointingly short, and I ended my drive feeling like I hadn't gotten to know the car at all. Beyond geography, the sales staff that I worked with in Lexington were a little less helpful and personable than staff at other locations. They were unable to find a car in the system that was on the website (what? Maybe they had a good reason like the website is slow to reflect inventory, but nothing was ever explained to me other than "I can't find it"), and they were generally slower and less helpful than I have experienced before. I placed a hold on a car, then found a better one elsewhere and forgot to tell the salesman that I had been working with. It took me a couple of days to realize that he had neglected to follow up with me and try to get a sale before the hold ran out! For some this may be a good thing, but I was unimpressed. Overall, I would recommend the Carmax company to anyone. But, more specifically, I would urge anyone in central Kentucky to try and make the journey to Louisville if you can. The staff is more attentive, the lot is much bigger with a wider selection, the location is right by the interstate, and the test drive route is much longer. Sorry, Lexington, but sometimes mid-size city charm just doesn't cut it.

I was shocked when we asked them to get some numbers on a new car and our car we were considering trading (not seriously considering, dealerships are notorious for insultingly low offers) and was shocked at what they came back with. They came down a significant amount off the new car sticker price and offered a very fair (not great, but fair) price for our trade. Thre was minimal back and forth on prices, we had reached an agreement in less than 10 minutes. The new car had some problems, which they rushed us in to get fixed, no waiting days for an appointment. The only thing keeping this from being five stars is our salesman Tim ( who I would gladly buy another car from and recommend to anyone) was not an expert on the car he sold. There Were a few small details he was unsure of with the car. Not a Problem, he's new to volvo, and will only get better the longer he works with them.

Granted, my dad and i should've been paying attention in the moment. I don't deny my fault in this. However, it is the dealership/carsalesman responsibility and integrity to give their buyers cars that are safe to drive. Me driving 5 hours home after purchasing on those tires was a severe safety concern. Who knows what would've happened if i wasn't already being careful. So yeah if you shop here make sure you pay extra attention to what you're buying. I still love the car overall but that genuinely upset me that they did that. i want to note that, at the time of the paperwork, our car salesman specifically said something about they won't replace tires.... he almost gave it away at that point but I, again, was so blindsided about being excited for this new car, i didn't think much of it.
