I called 3 months ago and never followed through with the removal. Last week, a storm came through and knocked down several trees that were dangerously close to my home. These were the same trees I was going to have removed... Lesson learned. Luckily, Strobert was able to help me quickly. The arborist, Tony, came out within 24 hrs and got me set up for service. The price was fair, slightly different then before the trees were toast. I am super grateful they were able to save the day. I will definitely call them again when I need maintenance. They sent an arborist to our home to review our request to trim three sycamore trees in our front lawn. The arborist suggested how high up we should have them trimmed. We agreed and signed a contract to have the work done. When the team arrived to do the work, the boss of the team said we should not trim them as high up as the arborist suggested. Now the limbs are hanging down where they were before the work was done. After contacting the arborist about this he informed us that the boss that supervised our work was no longer working for Strobert because they found out he was not following the arborist's contract because he did not want to do all the work. We have been trying for two months to get Strobert to come out and honor the contract we signed. We have been told four times that our work will be scheduled within a few days. Still nothing. They rushed my job on a Friday afternoon. When I started to ask questions about the quality of there work & items that had been missed per the contract the forman was rude & condescending. They sent someone back to take a look at the original job and he confirmed that it was not done properly & they have had issues with that Forman being rude to customers in the past. They came back a second time and sent the same crew & Forman even though I was assured it would be a different crew who proceeded to be rude and condescending to my wife. She finally had to ask them to leave. This issue has since escalated up to the owner of Stroberts. He said the individual was terminated based on this issue and others. However, they wanted to come back a third time. I told him at this point I just want my deposit back. He then threatened to take me to court unless I paid them in full and they would not be returning to fix the job based on principle alone. We had Strobert Tree Services remove twenty large pine trees. The last thing they did was to have a "satified" customer paper signed during the time the Strobert Tree Staff was going to insure there were no divots, holes, etc. left in the lawn. Now, everytime I cut the grass I am reminded of the poor service provided by Strobert Tree Service regarding making the yard smooth from holes left in the lawn by the trees hitting the ground and the equipment being driven on the lawn. It takes me about three days to recover from the shaking, rattling and rolling caused by the divots and holes that were not repaired. Very disappointed. Not too good. A waste of $2500. I wasted my $2500. Don't waste your hard earned $$$$ Hired them to cut down and take away a 25'-30' tree, with no stump grind out back, chop up and take a 20' neighbor tree that fell on my property, trim and prune 3 decorative trees on side of my house, and thin out and cut branches to a 10' clearance on a 25' tree next to driveway, and I'm just going to forget about the mention the salesman made of trimming some rhododendrons on the side too. I was being stupid to think they really would had done that extra work. Salesman and I talked about removing branches hanging 10 feet off ground. "NOT DONE!!!!" Talked about trimming and pruning the 3 decorative fruit trees on side of house. "NOT DONE!!!" What they did is just take a saw and top everything off. They look horrible and were in no way, shape, or form trimmed and pruned. They were just topped and stripped. Hell, I could had done that. You hire professionals to trim and prune professionally. That did not happen. The 25'-30' tree out back was cut down but they did not take all the branches. I'm guessing because they were about 200 feet from the road. When I mentioned this to them the salesman came out the day it snowed to look at the branches left. How the hell can he see all of branches under a few inches of snow. You can't!!! Obviously, they are still there. The neighbors tree trunk was cut. But wait. There is more. This was all done on a Friday and they just left all of the tree trunks on my front lawn. Envision this... two 20 ft to 30 foot trees. They have tree trunks that have a circumference of around 4 foot each and they are cut in 7 foot sections. This pile of junk was left on my front yard for the weekend. What a mess. What a joke. Yes, this is true. For $2500 they just left these huge tree trunks on my front lawn, in an upscale neighborhood, for the entire weekend. Then the salesman tried to say " oh, did I forget to mention that?" This company is very disorganized and does not follow through well. My mother hired Strobert to remove trees from her yard spring 2023. After their service was done I surveyed the area and found a number of issues. 1. Property damage - we had six saplings in buckets placed far out of the way of where the trees were being removed. Three of those buckets were damaged and one sapling was buried in a pile of trash far from it's fellow saplings. One of our iron tomato cages was completely crushed somehow. When I emailed the company about the damage, no reply or follow-up took place. 2. Disrespect for my neighbor's yard - As I walked around, I found freshly cut tree limbs in the rear corner of my neighbor's property (next to where one of our trees was cut down). I called Strobert to let them know. They said the man scheduled to removed the logs would get them. He did not. I would call Strobert five more times over the course of months before someone FINALLY came out in August only to tell my mother the limbs weren't from the cutting. I called them to inform them those limbs were from the cutting and if they had come when I called back in April, they would have seen that. I was then told someone would come and get them when they were in the area. That was in August. Clearly I was lied to. 3. Disorganized communication - I don't know if people just don't read their emails, I'm being lied to about messages sent, or it's incompetence, but every time I called Strobert I was told someone would call me or my mother to have someone check on those limbs. No one ever called me or my mother during those months of waiting. The only person who did their job well without issue and without damage was the stump grinder. read more

I signed the contract with Strobert on the salesperson's iPad. He didn't show me the page, "This Page Provides Clarity, A Must Read!" When I printed the contract, I discovered this page which says Strobert will schedule at their convenience. I had contracted to have a maple tree removed. The job took six weeks. Though the contract says the customer will be notified when a crew is coming out, I was only notified one time for the three visits. When I complained, I was told a crew was coming out on Saturday, but that didn't happen. When I called again to follow up on the project, Angi asked me to send photos. She was surprised the work wasn't completed, and said she'd forward them to the boss. For 6 weeks my yard was unsightly, unusable and unsafe. I doubted Strobert would ever finish the job. They had bid $700 higher than the local tree removal services. I hired them because I thought a big company would be efficient and professional. Strobert proved me very wrong. The logs and tree stump attracted wildlife of all sorts, including woodpeckers. The woodpeckers came to prefer the mahogany floor boards on my porch. I have $1,000 in damages. Andy (the owner), Rich & Jennifer are the gems in this company and the only reason they even earned this 1 star. (Depending on how their mistake is corrected early next week, this evaluation will change.) Wanda- the manager- hung up on me after I was trying to voice my concern over a miscommunication and unclear proposal given to me by Mark. After calling back, I was repeatedly sent to the answering service and finally on the 8th call, someone picked up but never spoke to me. (Unprofessional and inhumane customer service likely a result of Wanda's recommendation, I could hear coughing and a conversation about my situation before finally being hung up on once again.) Wanda claimed that I was "hustling" them- nope, just a young homeowner that was confused by the non-detailed proposal and a miscommunication. Thankfully on my final call, Andy the owner answered - spoke to me like an adult and treated me fairly and honestly. He admitted their mistake, said he'd be in touch early next week and that either way my deposit would be returned and we would start the estimate/proposal over. In short, work with those I mention above and avoid Wanda and double check Mark when connecting with this organization. Wanda does not have an excuse for mistreating another human being like that, nor hanging up, nor making broad accusations. Mark made a mistake and didn't write up a clear proposal. I do not recommend Strobert: they are disorganized, do not complete work according to estimates (told six weeks, it took 19), and the office (particularly Wanda) is really difficult to work with. It took five months for Strobert to remove two trees, four stumps, and repair damage to my fence (from dropping a tree limb) and damage to two of my neighbor's yards (from their equipment). I wouldn't have minded the five month turnaround as much if the office had been easier to work with. Between when I signed in August 2022 and when the work was completed in early January 2023, I spent hours trying to coordinate with the office via phone and email, received emails saying things like "let us know when you've removed your fence" (What? Why? This was not discussed when my project was evaluated or mentioned in the contract), then received emails saying "don't worry about it" when I pushed back. I received the final invoice with a immediate due date before the logs and stumps were removed and had to remind Strobert that they still needed to complete the work and address the damage to my neighbors' yards. To top it all off, Strobert sent me an email on 1/20/2023 threatening to send me to collections by end of day because I hadn't yet paid the actual final invoice they sent on 1/9/2023. read more

My neighbor hired Strobert to remove overgrown brush and a wooden swingset from his yard. When I arrived home I saw the discarded swing set in my front yard, not theirs.  I called Strobert to find out when the material would be removed and explained that it was discarded in my yard instead of the neighbor where the work was being performed.  I was told that it would be either that afternoon or tomorrow morning. I did not want the trash sitting on our lawn for a long period of time because I knew it would kill the grass, so we moved the material to my neighbors lawn a few feet away. My neighbor's daughter helped me move it. As we were moving the material, I could see that some of the posts had been pushed into the ground causing ruts and holes that were at least 8" deep.  It appeared that they were embedded by equipment running over it.  There were tire marks running across the entire front of my lawn and into the neighbors yard. I called the office again and told them about the damage that was caused and was told they were on the phone with my neighbor discussing the issue. My neighbor's daughter came over after the phone call and told me that someone was coming from Elkton to get the waste that afternoon.  When they arrived, I told them what had happened, as explained above.  They seemed to be in agreement with me as to what had happened and seemed upset with the person who had performed the work.  It appears that topsoil and some sort of seed pellets were laid by the crew who picked up the trash. What doesn't make sense is that their employees could have easily accessed the neighbor's yard from their driveway and just as easily piled the waste in their yard as we did.  Instead, they made the choice to unnecessarily use our yard with total disregard for any damages it would cause. We are out all of the time and effort expended to correct this problem and will need to invest more time in repairing the lawn. When I emailed all of this info plus pictures to Strobert, I was told that there would be a meeting with the owner and the crew and the would get back to me within two days. They give an estimate if you change your mind and get Jay, they hold you hostage for your money and charge you waaay to much sticking you up. Jay afraid to loose his commission. People have 24 hours to change mind with legal contracts. we changed ours in less than 1 hour called Jay the sales person back he said he couldn't do it told us to call office, called office they said Jay had to do it. My job was very small, but I can't say enough about how nice they were. My neighbor across the street had them there working for a couple of hours on trimming several trees in back and front. As they were cleaning up, I thought, maybe they can take down my small tree while they are at it across the street. I am a little white-haired lady living alone. I asked one of the guys, he said, I'll have to ask my foreman, went back, the two of them said, sure, followed me back with their small chain saw, took down the tree (perhaps surprised that "small" in diameter was also "tall - 15 feet?" but they didn't say anything, cut it down, hauled it to the chipper and fed it through, in less than 10 minutes. I hired Strobert to trim 3 trees-2 pine 1 cherry in July of 2017. The 2 pine are fine as for the cherry they MURDERED it. I made a complaint on BBB in 5/2018. I had emailed them many times. Don't hire them. I really wanted to hire them because they were courteous, but their work is mediocre and their service is a scam. They may be good for cutting trees but not for trimming them. Also, they do the job while you are not there, and since you have no saying, they do an unfinished job. Later, when you address your concerns, and ask them to do it properly, they ask you to pay more... only to finish the job!!!! Their additional services are a SCAM. I can't say enough about the exceptional job Strobert's did on the removal of my tree. From the first call, speediness of site visit and quote to the grinding of the stump today, every conversation, interaction with the folks in their office, Wanda, AJ and the 3 separate crews that worked on my project exceeded my expectations. The crew that took down my giant oak tree did so with professionalism, courtesy and care. Expertly calculating each move, some of the largest branches hung over the house and power lines, they handled it with utmost confidence. Even as large branches were being craned toward where I stood watching in the window, I never blinked as I was captivated, and even took videos! A family member of mine who lives out of state and who has partial dementia due to Alzheimers signed a contract for some tree/yard work on her property with Strobert. She paid them a non-refundable deposit and made an appointment to have the work done. Two days prior to the appointment, another tree contractor stopped by and offered to do the work. She mistook them for Strobert, let them do the work, and paid them in full. Once we figured out what she had done, we contacted Strobert, apologized, asked if we could get any of the deposit back, or, if not, if we could simply use that as a deposit towards future tree work. We were told no, and the company simply kept her nearly $1000, despite not doing one minute's work. Yes, a signed contract is a signed contract, and a nonrefundable deposit is a nonrefundable deposit. But you know what else? Dementia is dementia, and karma is karma. read more

I made a big mistake by taking the word of a neighbor without reading the online reviews of Strobert. Had I done so first, I would have saved a significant amount of time as there are many bad reviews. I called to schedule a quote for a significant amount of work in my yard on numerous trees. It took about 3 weeks for someone to come out, but it was late summer so that didn't surprise me. The estimator, Bill, was prompt, polite and very knowledgeable and provided a quote before leaving. I signed the contract, gave them a 30% deposit and was told it should be about 3 weeks and they would call the day before scheduling. After 5 weeks, I reached out to check on the status multiple times but received no response. After 6 weeks, I reached out to the owner, Andy Strobert and Wanda in their office and Wanda apologized. I finally heard from the sales person who stated he was very far behind with calls. He put me on the calendar for the following week and confirmed with me. My husband took the day off so he could make sure no vehicles or any of his equipment was in the way. Needless to say, they were a no show and never called. I called the office and they always dodge calls and have the answering service take messages. I sent an email demanding a refund and had to still follow up with them. Bill stated that he spoke to Andy, they definitely screwed up and Andy would be calling me that afternoon to discuss and apologize. That was a week ago and I'm still waiting. The only prompt thing they did was issue a refund within 24 hours of my demand. I wasted over 2 months time and now need to start the search all over. Trees were removed from my neighbors yard and during the process two of my fence posts that back up to his yard where the trees were removed were broken at the base. These posts were not broken prior to that day as the kids have been climbing over that fence between the yards all summer. I contacted Strobert and sent pictures out. Someone came out and took more pictures and told my wife there was no evidence they caused the fence damage. Over a month later I'm still trying to get an answer from the company. I loved this company! I had multiple very large trees to be removed from my property. Getting an estimate with Strobert was easy, quick and they were very professional. When I was ready to get the work done it was about three months after the appraisal and extremely easy to get a move on, they even matched another company's quote. While they were out there there was a mishap with the country and permit and they took care of it free of charge! I hired Strobert to remove small trees, trim trees and remove all discarded material. Salesman comes to the house to assess work. Informs me that they charge 500.00 and hour. I started walking away at that point. He stated that was for 5 people with 2 being arborist. He stated the job would take an hour and a half with a total cost of 750.00. When the work was completed in 39 total minutes, I figured my bill would be adjusted. When I contacted them by phone. Th customer service rep stated they charge by the job and not by the hour. Very shady company with very shady business practices. The work that was done was fine. Just between their sales and customer service ripping people off, its just not worth it. Company came out quickly and quoted what I believe is a fair price for cutting bushes and grinding a tree stump. Gave a deposit and bushes were cut in a few days but did not hear when stump grinding would occur for about a week and a half so communication could be much better. They finally notified me of when remainder of work was to be done after sending an email and leaving a phone message. Work was good quality when it was done. Office called me within week of work was done to ask why I didn't pay invoice yet that was mailed to me? I had only gotten the bill in a mail a few days prior so the phone call was very irritating to me. read more

had called Strobert a few years back to drop a large tree...estimate was given and the crew came out and did the job as expected...branches cut and chipped larger branches left in woods and trunk chunked down..very satisfied with this job called again this year for same size tree, given same estimate, but job this time was awful!!!! They basically dropped the large tree into the woods with cutting branches or chunking the tree and now we are left with a big mess...after calling and complaining owner came out and stated job was done as per proposal...think there was some miscommunication somewhere...I was under the impression the same type job would be done...we even talked about them bringing the chipper and cutting big branches and leaving them in the woods...sent a letter in with remainder of payment, again, stating my dissatisfaction...never heard anything...will not recommend this company. I asked Strobert to trim back some trees as my neighbor had some work to be done also. On March 28th, they came and did a poor job of trimming my trees, and tore up my yard. Now 10 days later, the lawn still isn't fixed and I have talked to these folks on the phone at least 11 times and not once have they said I'm sorry we tore up your yard. Then yesterday, on April 4th, they came to do more work on my neighbors tree stumps, and they used my yard for access, and they doubled the amount of lawn damage. Would not use them again. read more

Cut the tree down making a mess of my front yard. When they ground the stump, they left large pieces in the yard and threw grindings all over the place. The guys who were supposed to do the finish grade just covered over the large pieces and didn't even put any top soil on the area. It took several weeks for them to get somebody out to do the job at least marginally well. To top it all off, when I initially called for the estimate I mentioned I had a coupon I received in the mail. It was not reflected in the invoice. I called the office and they said I had to "hand it to the estimator" for it to be valid. So they wouldn't honor the coupon. Stay away. read more
