Price is important, but with tree work, I believe safety, experience, equipment, and professionalism matter just as much. From the beginning, MG Tree impressed me. Their website is excellent--professional, easy to navigate, and packed with useful information. Their sales representative, Joe Hayden, arrived promptly, was professional, and had an estimate for me within hours. Best of all, he didn't try to upsell me or walk around my property looking for other work to sell me. The job itself was challenging. I have two very tall tulip poplars, my yard is on a hill, and the trees sit right on the property line with a driveway on each side. MG Tree showed up with the right equipment--a crane and bucket capable of reaching about 50 feet and maneuvering from one location to another. Other companies were talking about ropes, lifts, and repeatedly moving equipment around. That made me nervous. The crane gave the crew tremendous control over the trees, timber, and debris. Nothing was damaged. The foreman, Damian, was pleasant, polite, and professional. They did everything I asked for and more. And when they left, the cleanup was so thorough that you could hardly tell they had been there. Here's the part that really surprised me: despite having better equipment and a very professional operation, their price was extremely competitive--in some cases about half the price of less-equipped companies. When I considered safety, knowledge, professionalism, equipment, price, and the quality of the finished job, MG Tree was a perfect 10 for me. I would absolutely use them again and highly recommend MG Tree.

I recently hired this company for tree removal services, and unfortunately, the experience fell…read morewell below my expectations. While the primary work was mostly completed, the overall job felt rushed and lacked attention to detail. My property was left with noticeable damage, which I have documented with photos and sent to management. I understand that tree removal can involve some risk, but what was most disappointing was how this was handled or rather, not handled at all. At no point did the crew inform me that anything had been damaged. I only discovered the issues afterward, which came across as both unprofessional and avoidable. This lack of communication made the situation even more frustrating. In addition, several heavy items in my yard were moved during the process and not returned to their original positions, creating unnecessary inconvenience. There was also a very large branch that was cut and fell a few days later that was not removed during the work completed. This could have fallen on my small child or dog. These details may seem minor, but they reflect a larger issue: the job was completed in a sloppy and careless manner, without the level of thoroughness I expected. I did bring these concerns to management/owner (Matt) but the response I received was dismissive and did not show a genuine willingness to address the damage or take accountability. Offering to trim a damaged plant was not an acceptable resolution and then stating "it should help the plant" show lack on my concern. For the price paid, I expected a much higher standard of service and customer care. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. There are many other companies to choose from and I would recommend picking a different one.

I don't understand the other review that was left because I have been using them for a few years now and I have never had calls to complain or have worry at all. They are professional. They show up on time for their appointments and they don't block neighbors driveways. They are champion climbers and safety is always the first thing with them and they are very careful with my garden and I have extensive gardens along with giant trees. They also care for the trees that need inoculation and they are good enough to give me wood chips when I need it, although usually I generate enough tree trimming twice a year that I just have them chip my own wood from trimming. I will also note that they have come in at the end of each job they have done for me under the original estimate. I think that's wonderful. I use them on average twice a year. If I have an emergency they are out in a jiffy. Another thing they did last fall that was a help to me was hang up a flying squirrel box because my husband was so busy and had never gotten hung up. Anyway, in case you haven't noticed already, I can't say enough positive things about this company. I have referred them to several people who have also been pleased.

I am submitting this complaint regarding what I believe were deceptive, coercive, and retaliatory…read morebusiness practices by a tree removal company. I contracted with the company to perform tree removal services at my residence and paid $5,000 for the project. The crew arrived at approximately 8:30 a.m. and departed around 3:30 p.m. After inspecting the property, I discovered that a portion of the agreed-upon work remained unfinished. Based on the scope of the remaining work, it appeared that less than one additional hour of labor by a single worker would have completed the job. The following day, I contacted the company and requested that they return to finish the work for which I had already paid. Rather than honoring what I believed to be their contractual obligation, I was informed that the company would not return unless I paid additional money. In effect, I was asked to pay more in order to receive services that should have been completed under the original agreement. What should have been a routine customer-service matter quickly escalated into a campaign of intimidation. When I disputed the demand for additional payment and continued to request completion of the work, the company's manager threatened legal action against me. Instead of attempting to resolve the dispute professionally, company representatives resorted to personal attacks and accusations unrelated to the services provided. Most troubling, I received written threats that the company would contact my employer and my husband's employer in an effort to "expose" me as a racist. These threats were made despite the fact that I had not published any review, made any public statements, or otherwise damaged the company's reputation. At the time the threats were issued, I had merely stated that I was considering leaving a review regarding my experience. The company's conduct appeared designed to silence a dissatisfied customer through fear, intimidation, and threats of professional harm. Threatening to interfere with a customer's employment because that customer requested completion of contracted work is wholly inappropriate and, in my view, constitutes retaliatory conduct intended to suppress legitimate consumer complaints. Rather than addressing concerns regarding incomplete work, the company responded with threats of litigation, threats to contact employers, accusations of racism, and warnings that their legal team would pursue claims against me. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed by the Federal Trade Commission to determine whether the company's conduct constitutes unfair or deceptive business practices, consumer intimidation, or retaliation against a customer attempting to resolve a dispute regarding incomplete services. I have retained documentation of the relevant communications, including the written threats referenced above, and am prepared to provide them upon request.
