Hiring specialists to protect and advise on the care of the mature trees and shrubs on our half-acre property will always be an important annual household expense for us. We started over 20 years ago with ASTEC (Atlantic States Tree Experts) but in 1994 when they left the area to focus more on Virginia and parts South. they recommended we use Bartlett's. We've been with them ever since. We use two of their annual programs: BOOST and BioChar fertilizer applied in the spring and Integrated Pest Control with several inspections/treatments throughout the summer. Often there also is pruning that we have needed help with. They have attached cables to anchor branches or multi-stemmed trunks and installed lightening protection for a major tree too close to the house. Since we live on a slight hillside, trees every once in a while will start leaning downhill and Bartlett workers have anchored them securely so that the roots can re-establish uphill. Occasionally we will use the local Bartlett crew for new landscaping or for removing trees, shrubs or vegetation that is no longer viable or has become a maintenance problem. Once we had them purchase and install several shrubs in a new area. In all of these projects their work has been excellent. The workers are professional, arbor-certified and knowledgable. Bartlett has provided tree service in my community (55+) for a number of years. While the level of service has always exceeded our expectations, there was an event recently that went well beyond what we have come to expect. One of our residents had a dead tree removed and wanted to have it replaced. Unfortunately, a number of utility lines did not allow for a replacement. Bartlett's on site representative worked with the homeowner to remove the stump and return the site to a condition that more than satisfied the homeowner. When we removed the English Ivy from our tree we saw that the trunk was cracked where it split into two trunks (in a "V" formation.) Bartlett sent our Chris within a few days of our call and he provided an excellent synopsis of the situation and recommendation. One week later a crew showed up with a lift bucket truck and did all the maintenance work within the span of about two hours, and left with everything spotless. Bartlett Tree Experts was to my home on two different occasions over the past few months. The first time was for tree trimming and pruning and they did an outstanding job. The second visit came when I decided to have a tree cut down with both that and a much older stump removed and ground. The gentleman did an excellent job and was wonderful about cleaning the debris from my lane/garden and filling the hole in the garden. He also raked and filled in the hole from the older stump.
