At first introduction this company had a good first impression. They were assigned as a second opinion by American Home Shield and did a thorough evaluation of our HVAC. The problem is that they never submitted their diagnosis to AHS. I requested it countless times and even tried to help by telling them that the SmartSheet App will make submitting it easier on him after he told me that " Yes I just can't get through to Ahs. So I've been emailing also" and "I can't sit on the phone for 45 minutes" It has been almost a month since this company was assigned and the diagnosis has still not been submitted so a new contractor was assigned. This goes to show that the owner of this company only cares if the customer is paying out of pocket and that he does not have time for customers from a warranty company. I even gave a good review with American Home Shield after their inspection because the first impression was so good. I wish I could take it back . read more

I have mixed feelings about this company and would never want to write a bad review about a local company, but I'm very disappointed with the way Strickland's Heating and Air me. For years, I always called them when I had an issue with my A/C.....they always came quickly, had reasonable rates, and fixed things quickly. They even installed a new A/C unit for me for a very good price. I would highly recommend them until this past week, when I made an appointment with them and not only did they not show up, they ignored my text and voicemail asking where they were. No apology, no excuse, nothing. I know it's a busy time of year and if they had to reschedule, I would understand, but to totally ignore me is unacceptable and they have to know it. I came to deal with this company through American Home Shield. They performed substandard work, did NOT resolve my problem and while the process was being reviewed by AHS, to see whether the work (and Freon) would be covered under my warranty, they called and threatened to put a lien on my house. The very first day of the review, at 11:30 in the morning, I was being threatened. I hadn't even gotten my lunch break to be able to call and had seven missed calls and four voicemails. They wanted to get paid by ME knowing that AHS wasn't going to cover their crappy work. Their gorilla tactics and shotty work should be avoided at all costs. Seriously, if AHS assigns them to your repair, request a different company. That is if AHS hasn't already removed them from their contractor list. read more

I used this company through AHS back in Aug/Sep of last year (2015). Same results as T T. had....replace the Freon and 1.5 months later it's gone. Obviously a leak, but I couldn't afford the $50/lb to replace 8 lbs for a pressure check/replacement. The weather was getting cooler, so I gutted it out until now. I'm in the process of trying to get AHS to have someone come out to do a diagnosis because the weather is starting to get warmer. They contacted Strickland's who, in turn, tried to call me at an inopportune time - I immediately called back when I could with no result other than Strickland's putting a note in my AHS file stating "no contact made".....makes me wonder if bullshit is one word or two! I have a contact message to AHS to get me another company to come out and for it to NOT BE Strickland's. The bad reviews are - in my opinion - spot on. read more

Mike and his crew at Stickland's Heating and Air are life savers. I have AHS and it took 8 weeks for AHS to address my failing A/C unit...yes, 8 weeks. I placed a service call for a failing A/C to AHS on June 6...AHS failed to even send someone to look at my unit for 8 weeks (I had called daily for 5 weeks, then started writing emails. It wasn't until I advised AHS that I was hiring a lawyer did a supervisor get involved). Heat index in SC this summer reached in excess of 107 degrees. A Corporate Supervisor FINALLY sent Strickland's. Mike assessed the situation and communicated with AHS that the unit had to be replaced. It took another week of me calling AHS to finally get them to authorize the service. Anyway, Strickland's was thorough and honest...AHS, not so much. But Stickland's got the job done. They were great advocates on my behalf. Should I stay with AHS, I will request Strickland's should I ever have another issue. Should I drop AHS, I would have no hesitation in calling Strickland's should I have any HVAC issues in the future. I have used Strickland's Heating and Air through American Home Shield on several occasions, even though I have asked AHS to NEVER use this company. All they ever do is come out, usually not at the agreed upon time, and replace the Freon. I keep asking, if you always have to replace Freon, isn't that an indicator that there may be a leak? They never check, just charge me a crazy amount per pound. I will not allow them back to my house for any kind of work again. Even if that means changing from AHS to another warranty service. I hope AHS wakes up and removes them from their pool of contractors. read more

The "tech" looked at my HVAC unit and said I the trap needed to be cleaned, I told him it was cleaned the day before. He then said the evap coil needed to be cleaned even though I had paid a lot of $ to have it cleaned the week before. It was leaking from rusted joints but didn't want to waste his time calling the warranty company to get it warranted. The owner came to looked at it and said to call back if it was still leaking and they would come back out. I called and lefts messages with no return phone call. They never came back out. Seems like they want to make quick $ , in and out quick and get paid by the warranty company but have no interest in taking any time to fix the real problem. Waste of money!! read more

Very bad. This was from American Home Shield. They actually never came to my house. After all the bad reviews I saw I don't really trust this company. American Home Shield never made them come to my house to look at the AC. It's terrible. Don't get pretty much any company from American Home Shield. Very shitty. They dont come and we've been waiting for a month. My daughter was crying of the heat and my husband's mother lives with us and was complaining of heat too. I spoke and yelled at American Home Shield. Very rude, expensive, shitty, and just down right TERRIBLE! They were supposed to come today but they never did. read more

Used this company with AHS. They were extremely accommodating to my newborn baby and I. They came right to me and found the problem within 10 minutes. I am not sure what happened with the other two reviews but they get an A in my book. And I might add... I am one of these people that's hard to please read more

No stars for Strickland's Heating and Air. They were sent to my home by American Home Shield, who didn't do a very good job of getting the service call to Strickland's in the first place, but then Strickland's didn't do anything once at my home! Who uses the garden hose to clean their unit to make the inside temperature regulate? This guy "hosed" off the unit! Telling my son-in-law that this should take care of the problem and that he needs to be doing this once per month! He got there at about 12:30/1:00 PM and it was already 74 degrees in the house, so about an hour after he left, it was 76 degrees in the house ~ even though the thermostat was set at 70 degrees! (It's been getting to about 85 degrees in the house by about 4:00 PM daily.) Not to mention, he told my son-in-law that it was hot inside because it's hot outside and that the temperature inside would never be 70 degrees, even if that's where we set the thermostat!!!!!! WHAT?!?!?!? Also, he didn't let my son-in-law tell him what he had observed and he didn't "fix" anything while he was there for about 15 minutes! So I called someone else, as I'm sure it's either a wacko thermostat or the unit needs Freon! (I'm in Orangeburg, SC ~ not CA like the "YELP" system is stating!) read more

Used also through AHS and supposedly they gassed up my ac said they guaranteed their work, but a short while thereafter it was malfunctioning again. We paid almost $ 400.00 to get gassed up and now ac isn't working. We weren't happy with AHS b/c we felt we really didnt save much money with them and terminated our services. Now ac is not functioning and they tell us they only guaranteed the work if we were still with AHS. This sounds shoddy and crooked. It should not matter whether we stayed with AHS or not, they did the so called work and they should stand behind what they said. Never once did they say "our work is guaranteed only if you stay under AHS" because if they had said that, we would not have used them. Might I add it took many unanswered calls before they came out too. read more
