I really appreciate how I can pick his brain about healthy habits or viral fitness trends--he always has thoughtful, evidence-based answers, and I trust his insight far more than what I see from random influencers online. The gym itself is a great space, well-organized, and everyone shares it respectfully. I go early in the morning, and it never feels too crowded. I used to dread going to the gym or working with personal trainers, but now I actually look forward to my sessions. Dr. Kelley has helped me build confidence and made fitness feel like something I can enjoy, not just endure. Highly recommend both him and the gym if you're looking for a smart, supportive approach to fitness.

I really wanted to like Pilates V -- the classes themselves were decent, and the instructors I met…read morewere kind. But unfortunately, the experience with their policy and customer support has been frustrating enough that I'm seriously reconsidering coming back. I've been dealing with a prolonged illness, and per their own policy, clients with symptoms are not allowed to attend class (which I fully respect). But when I reached out to explain my situation, I was only given a two-week extension -- no flexibility, no empathy, just a firm deadline. When I tried to use the remaining classes before expiration, I did not show up due to a worsening cough at the day of class-- again, trying to be responsible and follow their rules. I then received a late cancel/no show warning email, which said I'd normally be charged an extra $15 fee on top of the class I already paid for, just for being too sick to attend. Although the fee was waived this time, the tone of the message and the overall approach felt more like a punishment system than a client-centered one. The policy is confusing, rigid, and completely lacking in support for people dealing with health issues. It left me feeling discouraged and unwelcome -- not something I expect from a wellness studio.

They don't have a reception area so I was a little lost walking in but I just followed what everyone else was doing. The workout itself was fine. Compared to the classes I took in the past I didn't find the instructor to be helpful. When I got home I got an email about my bill from Pilates V which was a charge for grip socks which I did not purchase. I ended up reaching out to management for a refund. There was a couple back and forth with the emails where I had to reach out for updates. It did become a bit frustrating because I didn't talk to the instructor at all but was told that the instructor said it was me that purchased. In the end I received my refund which I was thankful for however I feel like this could have been solved in a more efficient way. I ended up not using the rest of the Groupon classes but it's a loss I would rather take than take more classes.

During a session, I barely work up a sweat, but I know I've worked plenty when I feel a just-right amount of muscle soreness the next day. Due to a back injury, this is important so that I don't create more problems from over-doing the workout. If I have a sore spot when I arrive, the workout is modified to accommodate the issue. Purifying Pilates has been a fundamental component in healing, strengthening and maintaining my back. During my workouts, we target all of my muscle groups, not just the core. As a result, I have occasionally surprised my husband with my arm strength, and I've got better posture than him. Rene and Martine attend supplemental Pilates workshops, which shows their commitment to keeping up-to-date on the latest techniques. They bring that knowledge back to the studio, which helps to change things up a little during the sessions, and keeps it interesting. I look forward to my time here; it's private and relaxing. The studio has it's own restroom, a space to prepare and enjoy a cup of tea, and it's convenient with cheap downtown parking directly behind the studio. Rene and Martine are very friendly, and make me feel comfortable exercising there. They also sell things like yoga socks, toe-stretchers (feels really good!), exercise balls, thera-bands, microwave hot pads (Smart Spine, I think it's called), etc. to use at home. There's a small selection of nutrition bars and drinks for sale, too. Thanks to Pilates, I'm pain-free and active, two years and counting!

I used to be a HIIT class die-hard, but I will never return to that way of working out after experiencing the thoughtful and totally transformative approach at Opex. Melissa is brilliant and dedicated, she has been more knowledgeable than the PT's I've seen for my injury, she understands the needs of a mom returning to exercise postpartum, and she has helped transform my body -- I am leaner and stronger than I have ever been, even after years of personal training in the past. She has made me feel so cared for as she creates workout plans with meaningful challenges and serious attention to my individual needs. Both she and Josh are warm, attentive to form, and are passionate about helping members get stronger sustainably. Having worked out at many different gyms in the past, I can confidently say, Opex Kura is one of a kind.

There's bigger name gyms out there with all the fancy machines, but you don't learn technique and don't get a complete workout. Now, I can do burpees, crunches and push-up with ease. I don't recall ever being so balanced in my fitness, meaning my cardio, core and strength is balanced. Side benefit is I don't slouch anymore! I do not recommend this location due to the extremely poor customer service I received from the…read moremanager, Neijah Cox. On May 26, I purchased a three-class package. All three class reservations were made in person at the studio, not through the app. Today, I arrived for what was supposed to be my third and final class. Upon arrival, Neijah informed me that I was not enrolled in the class. I responded, "That's fine, can you book me into the next class?" Neijah then told me that I had no remaining classes or points on my account and that I would need to purchase additional classes. I explained multiple times that today's class was my third and final class, and I asked her to review my account to verify that I had only attended two classes. After checking, she claimed that her system showed I had cancelled classes, missed classes, and therefore had no remaining classes available. She repeatedly told me that I needed to buy more classes. I explained at least four to six times that I had never cancelled any classes and that I had personally booked today's class at the studio after my previous session. I suggested that either the system or the employee who assisted me may have entered something incorrectly. Unfortunately, it felt as though Neijah was not listening to anything I was saying. Rather than investigating further, she simply continued repeating what the system showed. At no point did she attempt to look deeper into the issue, review the reservation history, determine who helped me make the booking, or otherwise investigate what may have happened. She showed no interest in resolving the situation. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I knew I had not attended a third class, had not cancelled any reservations, and had not even redeemed the complimentary shake that comes with completing the three-class package. None of that seemed to matter. Her response remained the same: "The system says you cancelled classes, had no-shows, and have no classes left. You need to buy more classes." The situation then escalated unnecessarily when she threatened to call the police if I did not leave the premises. At that point, I began recording the interaction to ensure there was an accurate record of what was being said. I asked why I was being told to leave when I was simply trying to explain the situation and seek a resolution. After returning home, I checked my email and discovered what had actually happened. My class was not scheduled for 7:15 a.m. as I believed--it was scheduled for 9:35 a.m. All Neijah needed to do was thoroughly review the reservation details in the system, and she would have seen that the class existed but was scheduled for a different time. Instead, I was subjected to an embarrassing and completely avoidable experience. I printed the email confirmation showing my 9:35 a.m. reservation and returned to the studio to provide proof. When I arrived, Neijah again told me to leave or she would call the police. I left the printed confirmation on the counter and departed. This occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. Then, at 9:09 a.m., I received an email notifying me that my 9:35 a.m. class had been cancelled. The entire situation was handled terribly from start to finish. A simple review of the reservation details could have resolved everything in minutes. Instead, I was repeatedly told to purchase more classes, treated as though I was at fault, threatened with police involvement, and ultimately denied the customer service and professionalism that should be expected. I have recordings of the interactions because I felt the situation was being misrepresented, and I am currently attempting to contact the owners or someone above Neijah in management to request a refund and formally address how this matter was handled.
