The coaches teach the details behind each technique instead of just showing moves, so you learn not only what to do, but why it works. That approach has made a huge difference in my own understanding of jiu-jitsu. The atmosphere is welcoming and respectful. Whether you're brand new or have years of experience, everyone is treated like they're part of the team. The advanced belts are approachable, the training is challenging without feeling intimidating, and there is a genuine culture of helping each other improve. One thing I really appreciate is that standards are high. Progress and promotions feel earned, which creates an environment where people are motivated to keep learning and getting better. At the end of the day, a great academy isn't just measured by how good the instructors are--it's measured by the kind of community they build. This is a place where people enjoy training, support one another, and continue growing both on and off the mats. If you're looking for a jiu-jitsu academy with outstanding instruction, a winning competition team, a positive culture, and teammates who genuinely want to see you succeed, I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Other parents who train in jiujitsu help coach and assist the main instructors. It's a beautiful community. The classes are for mixed ages, so my sons (ages 8 & 5) are able to train together on the same convenient schedule. My boys have been training at this studio for about a year now, and they still love it! Highly recommend!

She gave us some suggestions and convinced me to try it out as well. Have to say, I've take a few classes and I am hooked. Classes always start with warm ups and stretches, kickboxing at the bags and with partners, and then ends with stretches. I have mostly taken classes from Erik and Erika, father daughter duo. They give you a WORK OUT. My heart rate is always at least 150 and I'm dripping sweat every time I do it. The instructors also take the time to walk through the class and check up on everyone, ensuring the form is correct. There's a lot of great vibes going around and I've been given tips from more experienced students. This is the perfect gym environment for my wife who was initially intimidated. She's been going to classes by herself and I'm glad she's found her own motivation. I have IMPACT to thank for giving us that safe space to try and improve at our own comfortable pace. Although I haven't been back for a month due to health conditions, I am itching to put those gloves back on and box again! I highly suggest IMPACT for anyone looking for a chill, but intense (if that makes sense), gym environment with positive, motivating instructors that actually care about you.

Jake and the team were super welcoming, I was having fun in my first class and I've been going ever since. The energy in this place is great, plenty of begginers so you're never the only one, and plenty of folks with a lot of experience that you can learn from. Solid vibes, great coaching, good equipment - you'll have fun and learn a lot. Side note: All the coaches I've worked out with are great, but Michael, Alexey, and Troy particularly stand out.

I train primarily Brazilian jiu jitsu under coach Brian "Hulk" Fernandez who is a black belt under Ralph Gracie. Jiu Jitsu schools can have a very up tight environment as I've learned going to trial other gyms or visit open mats which is why I'm always so refreshed coming back to my gym. Our gym has a very welcoming, friendly and chill environment. Training partners are always happy to share knowledge and Hulk is always more than happy to share one on one time with you to ensure you are learning. I've seen many people enter the gym with zero experience and through trial and time grow to be competent practitioners. I couldn't recommend their jiu jitsu program more. I have also taken many Muay Thai classes here and coach Phil and Vick are great coaches with an inviting demeanor and teach easy to learn techniques which are beginner friendly but have a plethora of knowledge which has led many members to great success in amateur and regional matches. The sparring partners are also very nice people who can ramp it up if you'd like but are happy to practice techniques and push you to get a good workout in. Also, I have done many hours of weight lifting with their available free weights, squat racks, cable machines and kettlebells. They also have assault bikes and rowers. Basically all you need to reach whatever fitness and strength training goals. All in all, this gym has everything you need, great schools that teach martial arts, very well equipped, friendly staff that are always happy to help and most importantly an inviting and encouraging atmosphere. I couldn't recommend it any more! Thank you to the two Jake's that work the front and to all the staff for the support in my martial arts journey.

I've been going to this boxing gym for about 5 months now and consider this my home boxing gym…read more I've been to other "fitbox" gyms that come nowhere close to the quality of instruction you get from the experienced trainers at B Street Boxing. The gym atmosphere is welcoming to all attendees and there is a strong sense of community among the regulars. As for the gym itself, there are lots of heavy bags spaced throughout the gym and two boxing rings against the far wall. This is a place where you will learn real boxing! Most of the gym goers here are men (there are separate kids' classes too) and as a woman, that has never bothered me. Everyone is respectful, helpful, and very kind. People practice good sportsmanship and aren't looking to "prove" anything. There are several instructors and I've enjoyed classes with every one I've tried so far (Eddie, Val, Ritesh). Each instructor has a different teaching style and area of expertise, so you can learn something from everyone. Boxing classes are mostly bag work, with occasional partner work. Every so often there is also no contact/light contact sparring in the ring. It may seem intimidating at first, but everyone here prioritizes safety, and it's nice to put the skills you've practiced to the test. Overall you get a great mix of different aspects of boxing to work on--punches, combos, defense, footwork, etc, all while building up stamina. Classes usually wrap up with core work or other exercises off the bag. You will work hard! Take water breaks if you need. The coaches here also do private training for competitive fighting, for those interested. For people looking to learn a new sport from instructors that have spent time in the ring, look no further. This is a safe and welcoming place to learn.

But for me, this is the gym to go to in the Bay Area. Why? In coming to a boxing gym, I wasn't just looking for a workout. Yes, I want to get in shape. But you can do that in any number of ways. I also wanted to learn how to box. How to throw a cross, a jab, how to slip, how to measure distance. In other gyms I went to, it's basically a Barry's bootcamp with a heavy bag. You do an exercise routine that also has some punching. And it's great exercise! But at B Street, you not only get a hard, hard workout, but also a lot of coaching. In my first week (which was free), they started by showing me all the basic moves. Where to put my hands, how to move my feet. When I got some gear, they showed me how to wrap my hands. And during class, they not only take you through a high intensity workout routine, but also step in to make sure you're moving your body correctly, keeping your guard up. You'll get time in the ring with the coaches to do pad work and feel what it's actually like to have to move around an opponent and measure out your distance (this is *very* different from bag work!). You can even spar if you want, but I haven't got to this point yet and will probably hold off until I get into better shape. The coaches are all awesome, definitely know what they're talking about, and are incredibly nice. They meet you where you are and work from there. They're not afraid to push you to your limits, but never in a way that's mean or disrespectful. The community is also an awesome surprise. Everyone I've met there has been really nice and willing to take a second to help out a beginner with some basic tips. No egos or anything, just good people trying to help each other out. If you get in at the right time, you can also see B Street's Amateur team at work! No shortage of talent at this gym. Plus, they only charge $125/month. The bang for the buck is definitely there. Tl;dr - If you're looking for a boxing gym that will actually teach you something, this is the place to go.

No frills gym, great foundation for future athleticism…read more My daughter's been going here for a couple months and I'm pretty happy with how it's going, and she enjoys it a lot more than other classes she's done. Pros: Huge facility. Tots are separated from older kids who are obviously training for serious competition. Kids get exposure to using all types of equipment. Teacher is structured and has good control of a very wiggly group. More than one tot class runs concurrently and all of them are orderly which is absolutely key for safety. The little kids are in a separate room from the main gym but still occasionally go into the big gym for short use of big kid equipment. For those with older girls, they are strict against taking pics in the facility overall and I appreciate that. Ventilation is decent. Price is average for activities in the bay but worth it for the amount of learning packed into 45 minutes. Cons: Not gonna lie- it's a dated facility and smells like a gym sock. It's either a converted warehouse or industrial garage so it's either cold or hot. This is a real-ass gym, not a cutesy fun house. Only the little kid annex has like cute murals. I would not recommend it as a party venue unless they only use the little kid part, but I've not attended any parties held here. No auto pay for monthly bills, it seems. Parking is tough - their own lot is small and street side can be challenging due to pump it up being across the street.
