    A performance by pre-bronze
    Bob K.

My daughter has been going to classes here for over a year and I can say that while it's not perfect, it is a very good gym with solid instruction, development of good camaraderie and friendly and committed instructors. Do I wish it smelled a bit better sometimes? Yes, but it's a gym. Really, try smelling a kid's hockey bag. Do I wish the recitals / performances had better audience seating and I didn't have to pay? Yes, but if the alternative is to pay more for classes, a few bucks for a recital is fine. I like they use the whole space for instruction... even if we're crowded in occasionally to watch. Maybe there's a more pristine, perfect, fragrant and upscale gymnastics gym. If that's what you need, go there. If you want good instruction with people who care and have committed their time to make your kid happy and skilled, Peninsula is the place.

Last summer she attended a one week gymnastics camp elsewhere so this is her second summer gymnastics camp. We couldn't really see what happens during the camp because of the gym layout even though there's a balcony where you can sit and watch - we didn't really feel welcome to do that. Thus I have no pictures to post. What has already been posted does give you an idea of the gym format. (I'm disappointed about this.) I am giving it 4 stars based on my granddaughters rating after she was done with the camp by asking her on a scale of 1 to 10 - what would she rate it? She said 8 and smiled. When we picked her up, she was always happy and did look forward to going. So that is a plus. It is hard to figure out if she learned anything because she is not one to be verbose when we asked her what she did. The only response I got was she did hand stands and demonstrated pike jumps. When I ask if she jumped in the pit or on the trampoline - all I got was one word- Yes, I also found out they do crafts every Thursday. Because there are so many kids in the camp (over 50+) from what I could tell, I was impressed that some staff call her by name. I learned they eat their snack and lunch outside in the parking lot and sit on the ground - so that's why she got sunburned (you will need to put sunblock on your child). It's also where you pick up your child as they line up in groups after you sign out your child on the clip board on the table. Even though the camp ends at 3pm- they are already ready for pickup as early as 2:50, sometimes 2:45, To summarize, I have no idea if she learned anything new. The important thing is my granddaughter enjoyed it.

They make the kids feel good about progress. My kid didn't stick the cartwheel at first, but they were so hyped about his progress it got him trying unfazed. Coach Lisa, the owner, is amazing with my younger one. She keeps him pumped, challenged, and giggling. Plus, the place is surprisingly clean for a kids gym. Staff are let go with little to no warning, with no regard for the relationships they've built with the kids. It's heartbreaking to watch children lose coaches they trust because management doesn't seem to value consistency or the people who actually make the program enjoyable. From what I experienced, management also allows personal drama to affect the workplace, creating an unprofessional environment that ultimately impacts both employees and families. It's also obvious where the gym's priorities are. The recreational program feels like an afterthought, while nearly all of the attention and resources go toward the competitive team. Families paying for recreational classes deserve the same level of care and investment. Many of the recreational coaches are very young and often lack the experience, training, or support needed to effectively teach classes. Parents are paying for quality instruction, and unfortunately that's not what they're consistently getting. Overall, this gym has poor management, high staff turnover, and little concern for the employees or the families who support the business. After seeing how people are treated, I won't be giving Accel Gymnastics another dollar, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a positive, stable environment for their child.

The gymnastics classes are organized, fun, and engaging. I especially appreciate that the instructors provide hands-on guidance to help kids through each activity instead of just letting them wander and explore on their own. For toddlers and preschoolers, I personally preferred The Little Gym over some nearby gymnastics programs that seem geared more toward older kids. It's also reassuring that some instructors appear to have been there for years, which feels like a good sign. The birthday parties were easy and low-stress. We dropped off food and decorations ahead of time, and the staff handled setup, led the kids through activities, and served food very efficiently. Pricing also felt reasonable compared to some other party venues. Having Mountain Mike's Pizza right next door was an added bonus for party food and convenience. The main downside is that weekend preschool morning classes can be difficult to get into because they fill up quickly. Otherwise, we've really loved our experiences at The Little Gym!

Very strange place…read more We were looking for a gymnastics place since my daughter expressed interest in returning to a gymnastics class now that things are open again. The closest ones to us are Bayshore Elite and this place, and Bayshore Elite had no spots for her age. My husband and I visited this place in person since we happened to be in San Carlos for shopping to understand their classes / signup process better, since the website didn't have a schedule of when the classes would be (of course, if the days of the week / time doesn't work for us, we can stop considering it). The facility is in downtown SC. They don't seem to let people in through the actual storefront address, so you go through this somewhat creepy alley attached to either a hotel or apartment complex and end up at their back entrance which is apparently where parents drop their kids off. I was appalled - the area is gated by a chain link fence and a badly maintained tarp, and looked like a garbage dump that I felt very leery about leaving my child at. I asked the adults in charge (coaches I guess?) who I could speak to about classes and they directed me to a grumpy woman who was very standoffish and flat out rude. She insisted that we had to sign their waiver before we could take a look at the facility (for general cleanliness, ventilation, upkeep), which was beyond odd since we were not getting on the equipment or trialing a class. Ok - I then requested a schedule so I could see if their classes even work for us. I don't know if she assumed we were suspicious people because we didn't have our child with us at the moment, but she then told us to go to the front of the building to get let in. Then, while we stood in front of the building as directed, she stood at the front desk not doing anything and proceeded to ignore us for over 10 minutes. I understand the concern for safety of children, but as a business owner, she could have also answered our question about class scheduling and with COVID still a concern, I definitely want to make sure any facility doing close contact sports is clean and has decent air quality - even before my child comes here for any evaluation. In fact, I'm curious what they were hiding by not letting us see the facility in person. Well, only because pickings are slim in the Bay Area for any child activity spots, and worse since COVID, I get home, get on their website, and grudgingly complete their waiver which asked for tons of info that I wasn't dying to give out if I didn't know whether I wanted to even engage further with this place. We didn't hear back beyond that, after they collected all our info. Hell, I also filled out the evaluation form to see if I could get her evaluated and again, didn't hear back. Anyways, rude staff, bad condition and SMALL facility, and I honestly wish the peninsula had better options closer to home.

One wonderful thing about this center is that the little ones get to explore the big gymnastics area with real equipment and see real gymnasts practicing. They can touch, feel, play some of the equipments (with their parents ofcourse) It's so inspiring for them! The younger kids, together with their parents, can observe and learn from the older kids. One moment that really amazed me was when I was downstairs watching my kids and saw little girls doing kettlebell exercises. I was like, "Is this for real? Wow!" They're not just playing -- they are actually working out and building physical strength from a young age. I also love how they rotate leadership among the kids during group activities.
