Kids had fun at my daughter's 8th birthday party that is not just "minecraft" themed but they actually played entire time. They were screaming, laughing and played it strategically. Even my 5 years old enjoyed playing... as for parents, we hang outside in their "party room." We will definitely do it again. read more

We came here for a Minecraft birthday party. Tech Rocks is located in a small strip mall - across from Mollie Stone. It was really blink and you'll miss it because it looks like a nondescript office space from the outside. The party is held in the back where it looks like an Internet cafe. There's an adult who leads the kids in the game. I don't know too much about Minecraft but the kids seem to enjoy themselves. Eating space is cramped. Literally if you have more than 10 kids and adults everyone will be crawling all over each other so it's best to have a small intimate party. read more

Great location for a Minecraft birthday party! We just had our two sons combined birthday party here and could not have been more pleased. All of the boys had a great time and Alvin was a great host/guide for those just learning. He was able to help them navigate when they got stuck and provided just the right amount of help when needed. This review is probably going to sound a lot like the others, but that's okay. My son just turned 10 and is a total Minecraft fan. Having a themed party at Tech Rocks was at the top of his list. We originally found out about this place from their ad in the San Mateo Daily Journal. The hosts, Zoe and Dalton (I believe these were their names), were upbeat and cheerful the whole way through. They guided the kids (about 15 of them) through a variety of worlds. The kids were so excited they were yelling. It was fun to see them get worked up. They played for almost 80 minutes and didn't want to stop. We consider the party a big success. Now I do want to say that we didn't hold the food and cake portion of the party here. The party room is on the small side and we wanted to give our adult guests more room to stretch out and time to enjoy themselves. So, we just did the Minecraft portion here. If you have a kid who's a Minecraft fan like my son, I suggest you go for it. Everyone we talked to on the way to having this party was friendly and helpful. read more

We just hosted my daughters 7th birthday here with a Roblox gaming theme. She had a blast and absolutely loved playing with all her friends. The staff were very welcoming, kind and assisted all the kids fantastically when they needed help. The party room is perhaps a tad cramped, and could do with a few more alternative decorations other than Minecraft, but aside from that - it was a good experience and we would happily go again. read more

I sent both my boys on Friday because school was cancelled because of the smoke. My seven year old came back completely hooked to Fortnite. Something I would have never have him played at home. My kids aren't even that into video games. So these people, did an impromptu day camp due to the smoke, and as said by one of them, they didn't have time to plan much so I stead of actually coding or learning they had the boys playing video games and watching movies. Plus not even thinking If it was ok to introduce little kids to those games. I would never send them back. These guys have no responsible consideration towards what they teach. read more

My child attended a Minecraft themed birthday party at Tech Rocks. I was pleasantly surprised to find a welcoming environment that encourages young tech enthusiasts. Alvin, the owner, was very patient with a group of eager kids and made sure that their experience was not only fun but also educational. Because he is great with children, I see Alvin doing well with the students of his after school classes and summer programming camps. My 10 year old son had quote - "the best birthday ever!" He prefers a small group so we invited eight and ended up with six after cancellations. This was just right for my son though and I think everyone had a blast. The party leaders were great, providing a lot of interaction with the kids and introducing them to games within the game - working together to fight a monster, hide and seek Minecraft style and much more. The kids took a short break in the party room and enjoyed snacks I had brought - watermelon, cookies and pretzel sticks - but they spent most of the time on the computers. We hosted our son's 8th birthday party at TechRocks. It was loads of fun and kids had a blast. There were no restrictions on food and team were super flexible. Kids played for 45 mins, took a break when the pizza arrived and then went back to playing after they were done. This was one of best parties we have hosted. Just had a minecraft birthday party for my 8 yo's here and they all had a blast. Teacher Alvin dropped in all kinds of minecraft goodies for them ("lucky blocks", special swords etc) and the kids all got really excited about the items. They also went to special environments and encountered all sorts of monsters, all very exciting stuff and made it a unique experience. And of course, it was uber cool to play a networked game of minecraft with 10 of your closest friends. I can't wait to get our photo taken at the end in front of a green screen with minecraft props, Alvin is going to photoshop in a minecraft background and it will make a perfect thank you note. We just had a birthday party for my 10 year old son and it was fantastic. The hosts were wonderful, the kids had an absolute blast, and the logistics were seamless--we brought our own food and had pizza delivered to a side room that was totally set up and ready for us (cups, napkins, table cloth, birthday sign, etc). We had a birthday party with 11 boys (3rd grade) at TechRocks yesterday. The boys had a blast! I had no idea gaming could be so interactive! TJ was our host/instructor and he was great. Always stayed calm and made sure everyone got their questions answered or helped when they were stuck. The kids thought it was EPIC! We went to Village Host Pizza with the gang for lunch. Overall a great event. I worked with Nicole to plan the party and she was very efficient too. She even made reservations at the Village Host (where you get 20% if you go there in combination with a TechRocks party). Would totally recommend this if you have a bunch of high energy kids for a party and don't know how to keep them busy. read more

My 8 year old twins had their bday party there. Kids loved it. Two guys concentrated on children and playing mine craft with them. The place is small so it's better to have no more then 10 kids. They have no restrictions on what kind of food you can bring and they provide paper plates, napkins and cups, parents have to set up the food and clean up. The nice part is they don't ask you for a tip. My only complaint is that the place looks ran down it needs a fresh coat of paint and a new carpet. read more

Everyone had a great time - the adults enjoyed Mexican food and margaritas at Hola while the kids crafted. Then we all went downstairs to Baskin and Robbins to enjoy half price cones. My daughter loves Minecraft, so when I found out about this place I had to book her birthday party here. I didn't know what to expect, I'm not a gamer so I didn't know how much fun the kids would have just sitting around playing on a computer. So I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that they were all having a blast, and when they announced it was time to stop playing the kids were not happy! I had to lure them away with promises of pizza and cake lol. The facilitators were great, they engaged the kids and even taught my 4 year old how to play! They will also provide you with plates and cutlery and a knife to cut the cake, if needed. They are very flexible with food being brought in, but they do have a deal set up with a local pizza place. I agree with the other reviews that say to go for the longer party option, it is definitely worth it. If your child loves Minecraft I highly recommend this place! read more

My son attended the Spring Break camp ( April 2015) at the Tech Rocks. We live in Fremont but enrolled him in the Belmont Camp. He enjoyed every bit of the camp. He learnt so much not only Minecraft but also typing and coding too. He was very sad to leave the Camp and talks about the camp even now. Alvin is a wonderful instructor, he has the skill to manage all the kids of various age group with so much ease. I would highly recommend to anyone who are looking for a tech camp that involves Minecraft. I hope they open up a branch in Fremont/Union City area. It would be awesome. read more
