Beware - these people are scammers…read more I signed my daughter up for a summer camp that was advertised as being at St. John's in Glen Park (where we live). Literally the day after we signed up (and paid), we received an email from Legarza saying there was a location change to Stella Maris School. Since Stella Maris School is across town from us, we emailed Legarza to say unfortunately this would not work for us and we would like a refund for the camp. Legarza emailed back to say they would not issue a refund because we had not purchased their insurance / payment protection. Instead, we could only choose a different far away location or get a credit for another week. They also tried to claim they advertised the location as "tenative" - when that is absolutely not what their website said (we would not have booked the camp otherwise since, long story short, we only could book camp within walking distance of our home that week). Instead, only *after* paying for a spot, did their confirmation email state: "St. John School - San Francisco Pending Final Confirmation - We are confident we will offer this site during this week, however we have not yet received a final confirmation from the site. If registering we will secure your spot. If there is any issue we will likely find a similar location for this week, and our standard refund policy will apply." And, of course, their own email notifying us of the change said there was a "location change" and "We will be moving from St. John School to Stella Maris School." It's understandable when circumstances change, but it is absolutely unacceptable to try to force families to pay for something they did not purchase.

This camp completely failed our son. He was paired with a much older kid who aggressively took over…read morethe project and didn't let him participate. Our son tried to reason with the kid, tried to get his own materials (which he was scolded for) and tried directly asking the instructor for help, a request which was ignored. I also reported this on an email survey that the camp sent out after the first day but received no reply. We decided to totally skip the last two days and have our son learn coding on his iPad instead because he felt like his time was completely going to waste at Wizbots. I would not recommend this camp to Update to respond to the owner's comment: the camp let's 7 year olds sign up and at no point was I contacted and let know that the age of 7 was too young. As can be seen from other reviews, other 7 year olds do sign up and even have good experiences. The issue here was a lack of intervention against a clear behavioral issue and lack of responsiveness to repeated feedback in real time from my son and myself. I still have never been contacted by anyone from wizbots except via this review.

They are responsive and professional, but they also clearly love kids and they put a ton of energy and thought into their program. The adult:student ratio is great, and we love that our son gets a ton of personalized attention. Footsteps help kids continually improve. Engaging environment -- Footsteps is a play-based child care center. Furthering teacher education -- Dedra and the Footsteps team encourage continuing education so teachers stay current on the latest in socio-educational child development. An added benefit: the teachers are great about letting you know how they interact with your kids and what they say to them throughout the day. A healthy balance between fostering independence and providing assistance. Setting the tone for a family's introduction to school by providing a nurturing environment to socialize -- families really create lasting memories and grow relationships at Dedra's social events. If you want to fence for *recreation*, this is a fine club. Your child will have some fun…read more They will not learn to fence. Children here do not improve and when they compete, they do very poorly. They don't know the basics of competitive fencing. They fence for years without ever competing (sometimes five years!) because that is the philosophy of the club. My child (11) attended classes for well over a year. Then, they went to another club for an introductory lesson and a child of 7 who had been fencing there for 3 months was significantly better. It me realize that I had wasted time and money since the goal for my child was to improve and be able to compete, while also enjoying the sport. All three are possible. It's never fun to leave a negative review. Jay is a nice person. But parents need to know what they are getting, or rather, not getting. The review by Ed B. is absolutely right. He had no reason to leave it other than to help parents. He was not even affiliated but left a true and honest review. On the other hand, the review by Michael H. does not make sense - Ralph Bissdorf is a foil fencer. Maybe this was a foil club when he learned? It is now a saber club. And these kids are not learning how to fence saber.
