    Get In Shape For Women

I am a working mother of two young boys. After years of struggling with finding the time to eat…read moreright and excercise I decided to join Get In Shape for Women in Woburn. In three months, I have lost two pant sizes. I feel strong, with an overall boost in energy and strength. The manager and trainer are knowledgeable, dedicated, and motivating. They are commited to your overall success through weightlifting, cardio, and nutrition. They are excellent at troubleshooting aches and pains or possible past injuries. One week I was worried as I had a sore hip and I thought it may be the end of my workouts. The trainer was able to work around my hip allowing it to rest and repair, while maintaining a work out for the rest of me! My times at the gym are at 6am. I find that if I work out first thing in the morning I approach the rest of my day with a healthy and happy attitude. I also need this time slot as my family is still asleep. Like most mom's once the kids are awake, my time is no longer mine and a minute is hard to find. GISFW in Woburn has made a significant impact upon my life and my family's life. I feel empowered and in control...I see the ability to change my weight, which is greatly impacting my overall confidence in life. I strongly recommend to any woman (even working moms) struggling with weight, eating right, or body image to give it a try! I am confident they can help you to make the change too! -Sarah C.

This is a very personal fitness studio/gym/life style center for ALL women ALL ages and in ALL…read morephysical shapes and sizes. I have attended workout sessions for two and three times a week for almost two years. Not only have I lost weight, but I have become stronger, stand up straighter, have a clearer mind, and feel so much better about myself and life. The owner, Christine, and the two fitness trainers, Laura and Denise, are dedicated to each and every woman who walks through the door. You are greeted by name every time. Christine, Laura and Denise get to know you as a person - your physical strengths and weaknesses - they keep track of who has a bothersome left shoulder, a sore right ankle, a rehabilitating knee, they know when it is time to move you up on weights, and that the woman next to you should be using a slightly lower weight. Their keen eye will have you adjusting a grip, or moving a little more one way or the other to insure you are getting the best workout. The same goes for those days when you feel as if you can barely walk in the door, they greet you warmly and guide you through your 30 minute strength exercises for what is right for you on that day. This is not just exercise. There is constant checking up on nutrition, what did you have today, could you have changed it to make it better, what are you planning to buy at the grocery. Christine offers 'after hour get togethers' that have included - cooking demonstrations, let's just talk about how to break that plateau, working out with pain - chiropractors and other practitioners speaking on these topics, and even a make-up session with a professional make up artist. The group even has done annual service projects - collecting and sending goods to US service men and women, and running in Woburn Boys and Girls Club annual run. The GISFW franchise stresses accountability. Each session is limited to four women, so you have a specific reserved time. It is possible to change 'your' time but it is best to stick to a regular schedule. And the dreaded 'weigh in' - necessary, and always handled in confidentiality. I highly recommend trying the studio with one of the specials offered throughout the year. You may consider it to be pricey, but I have found that the quality and my own personal results are beyond the annual fee. Try it out. All you have to lose are a few pounds and some sweat!

I've been a member of Club Pilates for over a year and Woburn is my home location. I love this…read morestudio! It is pretty new and always feels clean & fresh. The teachers are wonderful and there is a wide array of classes available based on your abilities. I have a few favorite teachers and I go to their classes weekly. I've tried other Pilates studios before but find club Pilates to have better equipment, their teachers to have longer training and the classes to be designed to meet you where you are while helping you improve. The location is so easy to get to as well.

I had the worst experience at the Woburn location, and I feel compelled to share it…read more My friends and I were so excited to try this studio, but from the moment we walked into the class, our instructor, Colleen P. made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. It was clear she was annoyed that there were 4 new members in her class. She actually started the session without even informing us that it had begun. When I politely said, "Oh, I didn't realize we had started," she snapped at me, saying, "That's the way I teach my class... THEY have all been here before, you need to keep up." I was stunned, and if my friends hadn't been there, I would have left right then and there. Things only got worse from there. At one point, Colleen publicly ridiculed my friend for not knowing a particular move, making her feel extremely embarrassed in front of the entire class. It was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. To make matters worse, after the class, I tried to voice my concerns to the manager, but another member interrupted our conversation. This person told me we had no business being there and that Colleen had informed the regulars to slow down because new people were in the class. Then, as if things couldn't get worse, this person literally challenged me to go outside and fight over a PILATES CLASS. Absolutely absurd. Needless to say, I will NEVER return to this location, nor will I attend any class with Colleen as the instructor. Her rude behavior set a negative tone for the entire class, and it's clear that her attitude trickled down to other members as well. We left that day having lost all interest in returning -- and that's four clients lost in an instant, plus three others who had planned on joining the following week. To top it off, not once did anyone from the studio reach out to apologize for the instructor's behavior. This experience was completely unacceptable, and I'm extremely disappointed.
