DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICES - BEWARE! i signed up for…read more short term personal training with Kerry, an Iron Gym employee. Kerry explained that the gym will need monthly payments from me during training. Fine. She and the owner explained the contract I was signing was permission for auto-pay out from my debit card. Fine. One month after my training ended, my bank issued a new debit card. Several months later, I received notice from a predatory collector saying I owed $405 - a bill for the rest of the year. I told the collector and Iron Gym that I was seriously mislead. The owner intentionally misrepresented the contract she had me sign, in a rushed manner, which committed me to a one year membership. i'm not the only person the gym has mislead in this way. The owner has a fiduciary responsibility to honestly represent any contract. It doesn't matter if some commitment is hidden somewhere in the small print. I was intentionally mislead, "Just sign this so we can debit your credit card account." That is illegal. When I complained about the situation, I was told by an Iron Gym associate that I would've needed to cancel in writing, but I didn't even know they were charging me, because they were tapping a canceled debit card for months. They had my address and my phone number, and could've contacted me immediately after the first missed payment . Instead, they continued to let the fees accumulate- for months! They sold the account to a collection agency. When I explained the situation, and refused payment, my credit rating was reduced from EXCELLENT to FAIR. I pay my bills. Don't sign anything with them!!

I had an incident where there is about 15 minutes left prior to closing, instead of doing their routine of announcing closing time. This individual turned the lights off and on numerous times during members workout. In return this is a safety hazard for all members. Someone can injure themselves when the lights are off. I would not recommend this gym for anybody if safety is their priority!

0 STAR, you hear me? Not 1 STAR. This is my first time in a gym. I registered there as a student…read more Asked information about student membership and was told that I can cancel anytime as there isn't any contact. I clearly told them that I would be using the service for about 10 days and need to freeze it temporarily. They said I could pause it without giving me the full information about freezing and canceling policy. As I came to Florida on the next month, you know what my membership didn't freeze at all. So I talked to them again via phone, and they said that I need to give them a 30-day notice. I'm sick of your money grabbing. How about you just pause my membership next month? It isn't canceling! I'm here at Florida for the hold month and need to pay 75$ (50$ maintaining charge (more below) + 30$ membership) for the renewal of my membership that I told them beforehand that I need to pause/freeze it for the time being. That I basically can't use. I'm furious about this sh*t. I would take nicely if you tell me the full info the first time I walk in. I don't have that much on my bank account, and it is overdue at the moment. Fuck it, I don't trust you anymore. They also told me about the 50$ charge on maintaining the gym every year. It is odd, but alright, I think. I never expected that they would charge it next month, NEXT MONTH. I asked to move the 50$ charge to other month, but it was rejected. What do you expect a student who barely earns anything to pay your 50$ in the first month? The 50$ charge is not to improve the quality but to make you be able to continue to scam people. No service fee waived either (I heard from one of the support that there is waive but asked the manager, and he said none). Just stay away while you are not into a mess like me.

The group classes are super- the trainer/owner Bobby keeps things moving and does a super job combining strength with overall conditioning. He listened to my goals and was able to tweak things. I had NO clue what I was doing, but that wasn't a problem. We started on the basics and form/safety. The other people in the classes are awesome, and range from newbies to really experienced athletes. It's a really fun environment where everyone motivates each other. After a couple months of the classes, I'm now trying individual training that has a martial arts focus. Bobby definitely did his research on my sport and caters the workouts 100% towards better performance. The prices may be a little higher than the big chain fitness centers, but you are paying for extremely high quality training and guidance. Totally worth it!!

Shortly after moving to the area I walked into the SBC and was greeted by the owner Bobby. Before discussing prices or anything of the such he gave me a walking tour of the facilities and asked me questions about myself and what I hope to achieve. His interest in his clients and members is genuine. He also does personal training sessions and you can tell from the man's physique he knows what he's talking about. So listen up. The facilities are perfect for improving yourself in anyway you see fit. Here you will NEVER have to wait for a squat rack haha. The gym's equipment definitely caters to the strongman/powerlifting/Olympic lifting crowd but it's not at all intimidating. Bobby has instilled a culture of family and respect. It's a very close community that you will be accepted into almost immediately. Even if I don't know the person someone is always ready and willing to give me a spot or give me some advice. There is also an on site Physical Therapist/Trainer named Brett. After dislocating my shoulder I wanted to get back into lifting heavy so I had a consultation with Brett. He set me down and went over my medical history, went through an examination of range of motion and strength. Then he proceeded to show me exercises to ease back into the lifting world and make sure I don't risk reinjury. It's been a year since the injury and so far so good. Brett also does training seminars and has a YouTube channel you should subscribe to. Also occasionally Bobby/Brett will bring in there dogs. Deadlifts & dogs? Can you ask for anything better? There is no other gym I would rather train at than SBC. It simply has the best equipment, community and personnel.
