BUYER BEWARE!!! I learned my lesson the hard way! Paid $349 in full up front, and two workouts in, I realized the gym was not for me. Don't do what I did!!
I signed up in November 2019 to take the 27 weight loss challenge for only $11.49 per week. They marketed this all over Facebook saying they were looking for a certain amount of people to take the 27 wk challenge. When I went for an orientation there were several people in back hall with chairs circled around a boisterous fast talking sales rep. raving about the program and all it had to offer. I went in hook-line-sinker and paid for the 27 weeks in full up front $349.
Two weeks later I met with a trainer and about 7 other women there for the same purpose. I asked about nutrition, and was told that wasn't part of the program. Then we were given a bunch of exercised to do 3x/week and told us they would follow-up in a month. I went one more time and realized this gym was NOT what not going to work for me for many reasons.
I sent an email to the club to see if I could get a refund, willing to pay for the first month, but I knew I wouldn't be back. The club gave me the 800 to the Billing company that handles contracts.I tried several times to reach them and every time I did, no one answered and the voice mailbox was full. After several attempts, I reached back out to the club and they gave me an email address.
I wrote an email on Friday and received a response the following Monday late in the day telling me my request for refund was denied based on the contract I signed. In the fine print on back page it states "Paid fitness/weight loss program not meeting member expectations are not grounds for cancellations/refunds" Further down in another clause it states Member understands Weight Loss/Fitness program includes 24-month online access for nutrition support and is not personal training 3x per week.
In other words, I was given an app with NO instructions whatsoever on how to use it. Thinking I would be shown at orientation, also thinking orientation was going to be 1:1. WRONG. Orientation was a group of about 10 women, all different ages, sizes and abilities. The trainer in the gym does not help with nutrition, can help answer questions, but didn't even know how to use the app that was supposedly part of the program! I was also given poorly photocopied pages with suggested meal plan, NO encouragement, or help even understanding what you are reading and how the app can help you keep track.
I kept asking about the app and nutrition only to be brushed off saying that's not what they do.
I learned my lesson the hard way!! I'm out $349 and want to make sure no one else falls for the same bait/switch I did. They had a fast talking sales rep that did a great job selling the club. That's what sales reps do! He was so good, he even led you to believe he was one of the trainers at this particular gym.
In most cases you "get what you pay for". In this case I paid a lot and got nothing!
DO NOT SIGN CONTRACT WITHOUT READING ALL OF THE FINE PRINT AND NEVER PAY IN FULL -- with this company in particular.
Angry at myself for falling for this!! Do no do what I did. read more
