Each class is different and challenges the students to expand beyond their comfort zone. My normal workout routine is to take a martial arts class followed by a yoga class. At the end of the night I feel refreshed, happy, and ready to go out and be the best version of myself. Training here is a truly rewarding experience, and I can honestly say that this school provides the highest quality instruction you can get anywhere in the area.

Both young and mature people are typically in the classes. Highly recommended - give Moncreaff yoga a try!

He is a shy kid and through this program, his self-confidence has grown immensely and I know that is in part due to the way they run the school and the values they instill. In addition to learning Taekwondo, Changs teaches children how to take responsibility for themselves, their schoolwork and chores; Have respect for parents, teachers, themselves and others; How to deal with bullying in various situations. They also incorporate public speaking into their classes - A valuable skill that is quite often lost these days with digital communications! My son started when he was 4 years old and is now 7. His goal is to become a blackbelt and to assist in classes, helping others to learn Taekwondo. To have a young child establish such clear goals when it comes to anything and work hard to achieve them makes me one proud Mama. Their adult program is equally as fantastic! Gets you moving, teaches valuable self defense techniques and challenges you to take care of yourself, act on goals/follow through. The schedule is very accommodating/flexible for working parents. The value of training with your child is huge. It has brought my son and I even closer than we already were. We are able to share, push and encourage each other. An amazing feeling. I highly recommend Chang's Taekwondo America to anyone looking to instill great values in their children and themselves.

Manners, self control, focus, critical thinking and good listening are just a few of the great things that Sensei Chip Quimby and Sempai Andrew O'Brien teach, and expect from each student. As each year passes I have been continually impressed by the passion, dedication and continued drive to meet each student with truth and positivity. They truly breed an atmosphere of trust and honesty. My children and I have very much enjoyed being a part of the AKTC family.

I have been going to the adult classes at the Union Square (Somerville) location for two years now…read more When I started, I knew I wanted to do some sort of self-defense (I am a woman and go out a lot alone) but I didn't want it to be militaristic in style. This dojo isn't. It's friendly and welcoming to all skill levels, and other students have moved there to escape the mitaristic style at other schools and have liked it at Villari's much more. Master Brad is friendly and kind and very knowledgeable, and he is good at making sure all skill levels get something out of the class. You can go up to two or three times a week for the same monthly fee, and they offer special seminars and tournaments as well if you're interested in that. Now a couple of years in, I feel that a lot of the techniques/my reactions are becoming automated, which is exactly what I wanted. Also, Reliable Market is just below for after-karate snacks!
