They structure their programs around safety and awareness, overall respect, and good basic karate self defense skills. Their instructors led by Grandmaster Nugent are super trained, even in first aid and cpr, which I thought was excellent. I am very impressed !

They have done an awesome job keeping people motivated and moving forward in their practice.

Tom (or "Sir" as he is respectfully known by his students) has been an ideal teacher, leader, guide and mentor for my sons. He intuitively finds the perfect balance of "firm and tough discipline" and "warm, kind, approachable," and my sons really like and respect him. It is important to note that I highly recommend Tom's martial arts academy for any child, whether highly athletic and "ready to go," or for kids who are less physically confident and more reticent to explore physical activities. My sons have gotten immeasurable benefit from the strengthening, conditioning, flexibility, and agility that comes from martial arts, and in addition their time with Tom has made an indelible imprint on their character, personality, sense of Self, and commitment to integrity. I am so happy that we found Tom, and will always be grateful for his impact on my sons.

He is a shy kid and through this program, his self-confidence has grown immensely and I know that is in part due to the way they run the school and the values they instill. In addition to learning Taekwondo, Changs teaches children how to take responsibility for themselves, their schoolwork and chores; Have respect for parents, teachers, themselves and others; How to deal with bullying in various situations. They also incorporate public speaking into their classes - A valuable skill that is quite often lost these days with digital communications! My son started when he was 4 years old and is now 7. His goal is to become a blackbelt and to assist in classes, helping others to learn Taekwondo. To have a young child establish such clear goals when it comes to anything and work hard to achieve them makes me one proud Mama. Their adult program is equally as fantastic! Gets you moving, teaches valuable self defense techniques and challenges you to take care of yourself, act on goals/follow through. The schedule is very accommodating/flexible for working parents. The value of training with your child is huge. It has brought my son and I even closer than we already were. We are able to share, push and encourage each other. An amazing feeling. I highly recommend Chang's Taekwondo America to anyone looking to instill great values in their children and themselves.
