I never write reviews, mostly because I'm shy and usually keep to myself, but I made an exception. I've been coming here since I was 16 and I'm 26 now, which is kind of wild to think about. This studio has been a steady part of my life through so many different versions of me. Showing up, being on time, staying present, and getting through class is the real challenge not so much the heat lol. What makes this place special though is the people. Liz, the owner, is genuinely so cool, and all of the teachers are great too. I'm a pretty quiet person and usually kind of in my own world, but they've always been kind and respectful and never made me feel awkward or out of place. They don't force anything, kinda meet people where they're at. Besides all that the studio itself is always super clean, which makes a big difference. And the disco balls on the ceiling always make me laugh, it gives the space personality. Full disclosure: I have minimal yoga experience. And I can't compare this studio to others because it's been years since I've been to one. (I tried, but it just wasn't my thing.) Fast forward to accumulated years of sitting hunched over a computer every day, recurring running injuries, and generally getting older, I found my go-to recovery methods of stretching, rolling, ice/heat, just weren't working any more. Enter Kim, fellow runner and yoga instructor at Stretch. Kim invited our running group members to attend a hot yoga class taught by owner Liz, and against my better judgment I decided to go along. Wow! It was HOT. It was HARD. By the end of class I was drenched and exhausted. I LOVED it! The structured sequence of 26+2 means I don't have to think about what I'm doing next or getting lost in class. The teachers' steady flow of reminders and corrections keeps me focused on form and effort. I can absolutely lose myself in what I'm doing. After five months of 3-4 classes per week, including Sandi's sculpt class and Reyna's body recovery class on Sundays, the physical and mental benefits I've experienced are remarkable. My back and neck have stopped aching, my hip joints are healing, my mind is relaxed and focused. I'm even standing up straighter. But what brings me back to Stretch is the people. The studio itself is beautiful, but the instructors are amazing--they each bring their own vibe and personality to the class and make it special. I'll start with the positive because it's only fair. The studio itself is clean, the space is solid, and the teachers are genuinely good (most I already knew from other studios that closed, and this was the only option near my house). The community is also supportive, which is why this review is so frustrating to write. Unfortunately, the owner, Liz, completely ruins what would otherwise be a great place. To put it bluntly, she's been consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. And not in a subtle way. As a paying member, we're told we can store our mats and towels at the studio. Somehow, out of all the mats there, mine was the only one that ended up thrown away into the dumpster. Not misplaced. Not moved. Thrown out. No explanation. No accountability. No apology. I had to literally dig through the trash to find it, which is insane considering my mat is distinctive and clearly recognizable as mine, so there's no reasonable way it could have been mixed up with someone else's. That alone would be enough to question management, but it gets worse. Multiple times, I've said hello to her and been flat-out ignored. Not "she didn't hear me" ignored. I repeated myself. She heard me. No response. And on the occasions when she did respond, it was often with a short, curt, or just rude tone in her voice. At first I thought I might be overthinking it, but someone else noticed it as well and pointed it out to me. Meanwhile, I've watched her greet others warmly right after. The difference in tone and treatment is noticeable and uncomfortable. There was also an incident where there were only a few of us in the studio and she had music playing that repeatedly used the N-word and included lyrics that were openly disrespectful toward Black men. It was loud, impossible to ignore, and completely inappropriate for a professional studio setting. Given that she is not part of the Black community, choosing to play that kind of music in that environment shows a serious lack of awareness, judgment, and respect. And in class, the way she gives corrections is completely out of line. Other students get polite, respectful guidance. When it comes to me, it's delivered like a public scolding. It's unnecessary, unprofessional, and frankly embarrassing. I've also observed that she is capable of giving corrections in a polite and respectful way, but chooses not to with certain people. In my experience, that inconsistency in how she communicates, and who she decides to be very rude to, is concerning. I've always been a respectful, kind, and positive presence in this community, and I've had no issues with anyone else at the studio, whether teachers, students, or staff. On top of that, the cleanliness of the male bathrooms is often unsatisfactory, which shouldn't be the case for a studio of this level. The yoga room itself can also smell really bad at times, which takes away from the overall experience. At this point, it doesn't feel accidental. It feels targeted, and it's not okay. The studio has so much going for it, which makes it even more disappointing that the owner behaves like this. No one should feel disrespected in a place they're paying to feel better in. Fix the attitude, fix the professionalism, and basic standards like cleanliness, and maybe this place can live up to its potential. Until then, I can't recommend it. I love this Yoga studio ! The teachers keep me motivated and they have great programs plus ++ really great teachers ! Teachers like Ebbon, Kim, Reyna and Liz are great teachers, self deprecating and funny. Each teacher offer such a different dynamic including a recovery class for Fascia with Reyna that has been helpful for my injuries. At Stretch I started consistently attending in January and recently got to enjoy my first class with the owner Liz who is very professional, she knows her stuff and truly is present, observes her classes /observes her students , I respect how she see's everything and everyone in the room and is sure to tell you to correct your forms (so you get the very most from the pose for your class and are doing each correction and correctly) . I also really appreciate how she made sure everyone could see themself in the mirror - esp since I usually go to the back I often cant see myself in the mirror -most classes are quite full - Liz made certain people adjusted their positions so everyone could see themself, I love that ! And she demo's with more seasoned students /teachers poses visually that help myself and newer students. I absolutely LOVE stretch, I've been a member for almost 7 years. Liz, the owner is amazing, she's caring and takes the time to know everyone that walks through the front doors. It's not like a gym where no one knows your name. There is a huge sense of community--this is one of the things I love the most. The teachers are all great, also very friendly and knowledgeable about the body and the yoga practice. The studio itself is very clean and pretty. I love that there's a water station and there's also coconut water and other drinks for purchase. The girls changing room has lots of showers so you don't have to leave all sweaty. Overall, I love Stretch and everyone that makes it the wonderful community that it is! I would highly recommend even if you're not sure about hot yoga, give it a try! read more

You move to LA, you do yoga. Them's the rules. I tried all of them. Felt silly or unsure in what I was doing in a lot of them. To be honest, it didn't really hook me or reach me in any way. I'm a pragmatist. Just wasn't my vibe. And I felt like an outcast. Then I tried 26+2 yoga. And the medical foundation/physical therapy aspect to that yoga changed everything. It was the first class I attended with equal numbers of men and women and every age group. And all backgrounds, but a lot of folks with some history in sports. It's straight forward and works your mind (I'm very anxious) as much as your body. I've been to classes at a handful of studios and then landed at Stretch. Mainly because it was a good deal. But I got hooked based on their expertise and dedication to this 26+2 practice and the healing aspects of the additional classes - Body Sculpt to build strength and Body Recovery to stretch your fascia. One of the teachers played in the NFL and if he's doing this to heal, that's a ringing endorsement for me. Another bonus - there are windows. This may sound ridiculous, but when you've practiced 26+2 in a room with no windows it's a special kind of added torture. At Stretch there are views and skylights. And disco balls for some reason. I'm told there are classes with music for special holidays, so I imagine that's where those come into play. Or someone just has a thing for disco balls. That's cool. Above all else, I appreciate how welcoming the environment is at Stretch. Feels nice to have community these days. It's not just the teachers, but the other students. Very supportive and if sweating together for 90 minutes won't make you quick friends, I don't know what else will. Highly recommend checking this place out. Especially if being as mobile as possible throughout your life is a priority. And meeting nice people. read more

Well I don't do this- write reviews. So I must love this place for me to write. I've never done yoga. And the idea of doing yoga in a room above 100 degrees is especially not in my wheelhouse- ever. Stretch in Burbank has made me a disciple! I'm an older male with limited flexibility even though I'm an ice hockey goalie.. This place has turn my world around! Not only my flexibility but my mental well being!! And the physical toning has also improved! All the teachers are incredible and for 1.5 hours seem like therapist for your body and your head! This place is so worth everything! Just try it-it will change something in your life for the positive!! All the teachers are so unique and awesome! Holy crap! Was I frickin exhausted after this in a way I hadn't been before. A friend of mine comes here regularly and he suggested it would be a good supplement to some of the other sports we do. I got another inexperienced friend to come with so I wouldn't feel bad about being so inflexible. I had done Bikram before and I thought that muscle memory would come back and help me out. It didn't. I was smoked during the warmup but it was fine because Danny was super encouraging even though he made a crack about doing another set of warmups. He even cracked the side door open because I'm pretty certain he saw me and my buddy dying in puddles. While it seems like I had a bad time I felt terrific afterwards and definitely felt encouraged to give Bikram another try. I appreciate Danny and everyone being some welcoming and being gracious to us noobs. read more

I've been going to Bikram on and off since 2002. I started at the Costa Mesa studio, learned the basics there, went to the Irvine one, DTLA, Fullerton, south Pasadena, and Atwater. Out of all the studios I've been to, this one is the best. The studio seems like it was made for bikram. Spacious studio with non stinky carpet. I'll practice even if it's stinky, but it not being stinky is a plus. Another major plus is the multiple showers. I've never had to wait to shower. Also the water stations make it super convenient. But even if those were lacking, I'd still come for the amazing teachers. I've been doing Bikram for years and thought I had most moves down, but no. I've been corrected so much for little things that probably make a big difference. I think its really improved my practice. I feel taller and my posture is better and it's been less than a year. I didn't get this with my practice before and I've been to a few different studios. read more

Warning: Your first class is NOT free, even if Yelp says it is. Having just moved to Burbank, I was hoping to find a yoga studio to join nearby. I saw a button on Stretch's Yelp page to try out your first class free, so I signed up on their website. The website did not prompt me to pay in advance for the class, so I figured I was good to go. When I arrived for the class, the teacher was confused by my registration and said that there was no such thing as "your first class free" but to go on into the class and he'd figure it out after the class ended. After the class, he said Yelp likely screwed up and I would have to pay $30. If I had known that I would have had to pay full price, I would have simply asked for a tour of the facilities and left to consider coming back another time, likely with a class pack which is just a little more money. Unfortunately, I have no desire get a class pack now. The teacher who helped me was very unprofessional and unsympathetic, dismissing me most of the time to assist his regulars. I was certainly too distracted with this debacle all during the class to even enjoy the class that I ended up having to pay for. From a customer service perspective, I wish more was done since this situation was very uncomfortable and did not leave me feeling good. read more

In the photos online, the main floor looked like laminate, but then as soon as I walked in, I realized it was carpet! - and I was pleasantly surprised! First of all, I'd like to say that I was there the same day Grace W. was practicing yoga and what she described on her review is far from the truth. I have no problem with anyone expressing their opinion and definitely won't tell people how to express their feelings because that is their right. What I do have a problem with, is when people do these reviews and LIE about incidents that never happened for the sole purpose of bashing or "getting back "at a business/ employees that really did absolutely nothing wrong ,but offer a service that you're obviously not mentally prepared for. With this being said, I am grateful for this studio and all the Teachers whom I've taken classes with. If it weren't for this practice who knows what other meds I'd be on . This practice has helped me sooo much in my life. I enjoy and look forward to coming to STRETCH every day. It is a welcoming, clean, supportive, happy and fun environment.The community is very strong and yes, everyone is at different levels but I've learned that, it's ok. We'll get there maybe soon or maybe later. There is no rush and most importantly, no one is judging you. Yoga is challenging indeed, but the Teachers at this studio are always there to give you advice and support you in what ever you need help with that day. Sandis is very knowledgeable on the body and can recommend modifications if needed. I took her class during my pregnancy and it helped tons to get my body back in shape after baby. read more

This place is awesome! I have been taking Bikram yoga classes at Stretch for about 4 months now. I go 2-3 times a week and have taken many classes throughout the various times available, so I've taken classes with many instructors. I usually take classes with Liz and Danny, they're both super awesome and very helpful. I've taken Yin Yoga with Abbie and that was a great experience as well. The instructors here are all approachable to ask questions and are very helpful. Throughout the class they will give you instructions on how to improve, which I really like. The studio itself is kept nice and clean. The locker rooms are great and I love that the hand soap smells like fruit roll-ups haha. Honest truth, there are a few poses I never thought I would be able to do, and it turns out that those poses became the ones I like the most. I used to go to a chiropractor at least once a month to adjust my spine. Ever since I started taking classes, the pain is completely gone and my posture is back to perfect. My lifestyle has changed completely ever since I started taking yoga classes not only physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. It has impacted my personality in ways that I could never have imagined. It has changed my perspective in many aspects of my life. I am a yoga teacher, so try not to review studios as bias may be present. That being said, Stretch is an amazing hot yoga studio. After having practiced/taught at a number of hot yoga studios across America, it is so refreshing to practice at Stretch. Stretch is one of a kind. From the yoga room aesthetics of quality carpet, superior heating system, impressive lighting and mirrors, to the incredible teaching filled with thorough knowledge and experience. There are plenty of showers, bathrooms, and lockers available. The shower head makes you feel like you are in a lovely waterfall. BEWARE this place is a rip off!!! I went for a one time visit and got talked into taking a membership- they still charged for the one class and the membership. I realized I couldn't stomach going back due to the stench from the carpet that wreaks once the heat goes up and the gross smell of other peoples sweat. I was charged again at the end of the month and asked to not be charged again as I wouldn't be going back. They said they would reverse the charges. And not charge a cancellation fee. All was cool until they asked why and I politely mentioned the smell was too much and that's why I wouldn't return. I said the Carpet has a wood design maybe go for wood flooring instead, then the manager got rude and offended. It was corrective criticism to help them. Well they kept the charges and would not reverse a dime. They would not return my calls. I then asked my bank to reverse the charges as I was charged 2 months and 1 class for only 1 smelly class. There's a cancellation fee I was willing to pay but no they wanted all of it. So for 1 class I paid over $240.00 for crap. Never again or should I say NOmaste read more

I started coming to Stretch in October of 2022 and after the first class I knew that I would be coming back immediately. The studio is very clean and spacious even when classes are full. EVERY SINGLE INSTRUCTOR is so passionate and encouraging which is so helpful when you are in such hot room! Yes it is challenging but after every class I feel incredible and stronger than I did before i came. I've enjoyed it so much so that I decided to do the teacher training and I'm so incredibly grateful that I did. The amount of knowledge and experience that Liz and Christian have is mind blowing and I've learned so much about yoga as well as myself. This has definitely been one of the best investments of my life and I am so excited for the future of my practice!! This place is life giving. I've been practicing yoga on and off for over 20 years and have tried countless yoga studios back when I was living in NYC and many new studios after I moved out to LA. Having been to many of the popular yoga spots such as Y7, Hot8 and others I have to say Stretch is a completely different experience from all these other places and is really refreshing. It's the first time I felt that the philosophy of the studio focuses on each individual person's growth and they want to challenge you from where you are. I've only taken a few classes so far but have been impressed by all the instructors I've had. Thank you to Suzette, Danny, Crystal, and Liz because they've been the kind of instructors who see you (and really see you and help you) as an individual and challenge you to push yourself while showing a lot of grace and compassion. Liz said today in class that we are all constantly learning and although I've been practicing yoga for a bit, there are so many postures I've done wrong or need to keep improving and I really appreciate that perspective. The community aspect of this studio is also something that I felt was lacking in other places and I felt the sense of support immediately when I first walked in. I would highly recommend taking classes here if you're someone who's looking for real guidance and instruction in your yoga practice and if you're also looking for community that will support you in that journey. This is a beautiful studio . Started practicing here after they opened the door after Pandemic. Teachers are fantastic, studio is clean. Liz is lovely. I have already done couple of classes here. The only downside is that I have noticed teachers start their classes 10-15 minutes late which cuts down the 90 minutes class to 75 minutes, it happened couple of classes. Then they rush through the breathing and standing poses, which is not fair for us practitioners, we arrange the time and our schedule, reserve a class and then we don't get 90minutes classes. I hope they become more aware of this and be more considerate and start the classes on time. read more

Ok. I know what you're thinking HOT YOGA!?!? Are you mad??? That's what I thought. But wow. School of Stretch was a delightful surprise. Yes, I push myself to the absolute limit. Yes, I have to take a knee several times during class. Yes, I want to panic and burst through the windows ala Kool Aid Man at least twice a session, but I stay. Well, first I show up and then I stay. And why do I stay? I stay because of Liz... and Kenna... Sandy and the rest of the amazing instructors. They learned my name, they support me and the rest of the class, they cheer us on and make us better each day. After this past year and change in isolation it is really nice to be a part of a community that is focused on making each and everyone of us a better version of ourselves. To the experienced yogini: I have taken Bikram yoga classes for over 30 years and have tried different Bikram yoga studios all over the country. STRETCH is an excellent studio to practice in. As a hot yoga practitioner, it's a given to endure the 'aroma' of hot yoga studios. Liz's studio is pristine in every way and Beautiful. A breath of fresh heated air ;) She is passionate about teaching and is a grounded teacher which resonates throughout her teaching staff (I took from Vicky, Diana, Suzette, and Danny) whom all have a sense of humor. Liz organizes other events that bring in community participation. I enjoyed a clinic she conducted that had photographers (including Liz) take pictures of participating students (including myself) and offered a separate class to analyze each pose and offered constructive adjustments to elevate our practice.
