Apparently the Davis person took the phone number from the phone display - I called from my work phone which is the number the tech had and he couldn't contact me. So after I sorted this out he came to me during the later time frame. He needs parts to fix my dryer, that is fine. I had not heard from David about the followup visit, so I HAD TO CALL DAVIS late morning the next day to find out about my dryer repair. They did not prioritize me and now I have to wait three more days to have a functional dryer. When I contacted Davis today They STILL DID NIT HAVE MY CORRECT PHONE NUMBER - which I gave to them twice over the last two days. There are other repair services, use them. I'm giving it a bit of time to make sure the repair holds, but so far things seem fine. That said, I do have two concerns: Everything was done via text. The booking, estimate, and payment were all handled by text message. While that's certainly convenient, it also made the whole experience feel a bit impersonal. I'm not old, but I still value some human contact and connection with the company I'm hiring. The tipping prompt felt inappropriate. When I went to pay the invoice, there was an option to add a tip for the repair tech on top of the quoted price. I really dislike this practice. Restaurant servers depend on tips as part of their income; repair technicians should be paid an adequate salary by the company, without the customer being nudged to subsidize their pay. In short, I appreciate that Andy Duck Repair addressed the issue, but I hope they'll reconsider how they handle customer interaction and tipping in the future.

I reached out to B&B Appliance. They reached back out to me within 5 minutes and asked when I would like them to come. They were upfront about the cost for coming and when I said tomorrow, I was shocked to get a reply saying no problem. They said between 8:30-9 am and they arrived within that window. It took them no time to find the problem. They had to order the part and said it should be in by Thursday, and they would call that morning (today) with an ETA. True to their word a call came in early, and we were told between 11-1. Once again, they came in the time quoted. They talked with my husband for a while and discussed the type of issue we were having, saying it was not the first time they had to replace that same part in a Maytag. My husband was very satisfied with them. Rest assured if we have any future appliance problems, they will be the people we call. If you want a reliable company, who says what they are doing and takes the time to explain what happened, then call them! My husband and I are both very satisfied with the service we received. Instead, the owner coordinated with my tenant, and the stove was fixed in a timely manner. The bill was sent via text to me which allowed me to stay home and tend to other matters instead of driving 60 miles to Winchester. I own a duplex which means I have double the number of appliances. I know who to call next time one needs repairing. And I'll bet anything, I'll have to call just one time.

But a great plumber is only good if you can get a response from them. I've been dealing with him for several years now. Consistently I've had to message repeatedly, call repeatedly. On occasion - as the first time I contacted him probably in 2023 - he answers the phone himself, and provides info on what he thinks the problem is. And he does phenomenal work. After a few years of being a good customer, patient, paying on time, never objecting to pricing, I **STILL** cannot get a response from him. One issue is that he's a one man show. It's him, or no one. His wife is lovely and accompanies him at times. Very knowledgeable herself. About 4 weeks ago I initiated contact and he responded immediately via text. Great, I thought. Then nothing. After a few more messages checking in, he said there was a family medical situation. I gave him space, and here we are two weeks and yet another text message to him later, and nothing. Nada. And still a leaking well tank. C'mon. Do better. We are done, hope you sort yourself out with other customers - I've seen several other people have had the same experience.
