The quality of the food at Shore Road is what really sets it apart from other cafes. The cabinet food is always excellent, but several of their dishes are creative and totally delicious. The Tuna Nicoise is always fantastic, the power breakfast is great, but one of my favourites is the Shakshuka (a very spicy breakfast with roasted peppers, eggs and chorizo). Finally, the Allpress coffee is well-made and always good. Friendly service and great food, although it's not cheap!

I actually came a few years ago and nothing has changed. I guess people can say - why change what doesn't need to be fixed? However the menus are laminated and tattered, and the table and chairs are just a bit old and uncomfortable. I think the menu is uneventful. There were no real options that shouted out exciting. I chose the tofu sandwich purely because again I don't eat eggs, and wasn't really keen on spaghetti for brunch. The tofu/halloumi sandwich was actually quite tasty. The tofu and halloumi were cooked to the right degree and everything was served hot. - Im not a fan of "luke warm". Plus there was a heap of avocado which I love! Though you have to love avocado as much as I do to appreciate it. The servers are friendly and the food is efficient. Its a shame the interior and exterior isn't as comforting as the food. Portions are also larger than your average kiwi café, which is a nice change of pace for this American ;) Prices are reasonable and they have outdoor seating (or outdoor/indoor combination depending on where you choose to sit in relation to their open air arrangement). Bonus points (as always) for being open past 6PM as well as for convenience to public transport (specifically the outer link). I will definitely be back.

I started with the Bruschetta which had tomato, avocado, basil and bocconcini (small mozzarella cheese balls) which was absolutely delicious. The bread was crispy and bocconcini so fresh and soft! Prawns in prawn risotto ($21.50) were huge and tangy and the seasoning was perfect. Mediterranean eggs with bacon ($15.5) was average while Rare grilled tuna salad ($20.5) was slightly too bland. I didn't try the Grilled salmon ($20.5) but everyone else seemed to enjoy that dish. We also tried the Muesli which was the chef's special. This was the first time I've actually tried a muesli and it was amazing. Fruit toppings (a generous amount of grapes, strawberry and blueberry) went well with the soya milk and yes, I will come back here to have more of this. What was extremely surprising was how delicious their ice mocha was! It was blended with an ice cream so had a very thick texture which was enjoyable. Also the bread that came with salads was absolutely crispy and fresh - I could have eaten the whole thing.
