It's fine if you're just in for a coffee with other parents but you may want to skip brunch if you are on a budget. Otherwise the food is good and the coffee is great along with smiling, friendly and helpful staff. Stripe is a nice getaway for anyone who wants to duck out from a busy day or get your caffeine fix if you are a mum on the go out west. Street parking only, could be an issue if you are meeting friends but it's a short walk from the parking up the top of the hill across from The art gallery. If need be.

A lively atmosphere and some great decorating add to the overall vibe. The menu was pretty standard, all day breakfast and pasta of the day etc. I was a little annoyed to find the kitchen had run low on a few ingredients which limited my choice of meal, so instead I settled for a build your own breakfast option which turned out pretty good, but not necessarily great value for money. I assume the kitchen shortages are just a teething problem; for a new business, probably not out of the ordinary. Overall, I think that this is going to be a cafe worth revisiting, once they have settled in.

It was gutting to see this Grey Lynn institution closed up, but luckily (miraculously?) the place opened up again and has been going strong since. If you're a nut (like me) who prefers to sit outside a café, even in winter, Occam is a literal shelter from the storm. With braziers burning and clear plastic wind-breaker walls from floor to ceiling, Occam is great in the colder months. In summer, you can enjoy a warm breeze and early sun by sitting on the Selbourne Street side of the café. Lovely! If you're into a bit of brunch, Occam's servings are really super generous. So bring a healthy appetite and a pair of stretchy pants. If you're into having a coffee, Occam's is - and has always been - pretty damn good.

The kids like it here; they can be slightly subdued with a hot chocolate and a snack, and no one seems bothered by their presence which is always a good thing when you have children. It has a laidback vibe and is a good people-watching spot without the posi-ness of Ponsonby. The food is great, the wine does the trick and everybody's happy.
