Straw Hat's "The Works"
Robin H.

I came here with my mom on a Tuesday as she said she liked this place with her friends. They said they enjoyed their "Classic Veggie" pizza. For us, we got their "The Works" pizza in a large ($18) and it was great! The dough wasn't overly thick or burnt. The pizza had a good amount of tomato sauce and all its toppings. Even re-heating it in the microwave tasted great compared to take out pizza places like Little Caesar's. Pizza tasted fresh and piping hot. On Tuesday's, they give 40% off on their pizzas which was cool. We got takeout but the service was welcoming and friendly. The ambiance of the place was giving older generational and family friendly vibes. They have a lot of seating inside and also a small arcade section for kids. I'd definitely come back again as their pizzas are delicious!

Celebrating his accomplishments.

Delicious pizza, nice clean location, customer service could be better. But not bad enough where we wouldn't want to come back. Great for a small gathering or birthday party. Just writing this makes me want pizza

October has a special deal for a large 2 topping pizza for $19.99 which is perfect for the Dodgers game today. Still great service and plenty of tv screens to watch football and the Dodgers. Clean interior and plenty of seating if you want to dine in.

The first time I tried this pizza was at my friend's get together and I liked it so much I asked her where she got it. She told me it's from this friendly business in Cerritos. My personal favorite was the Meat-E-Or Pizza, highly recommend if you love some extra protein. The owner is really nice and it's a family owned business. I ordered a few pizzas for the Super Bowl yesterday and I'd highly recommend anyone else to try this place out! :)

My siblings and I were in the area and decided to try out Straw Hat pizza. We came in on a Monday afternoon, but after looking over the special, the best day to come is definitely Tuesday because there are a lot of specials on that day! The inside has an old school Shakey's/Pizza Hut vibe to it that made me nostalgic. The customer service was great, too. Other than the girl who took our order, everyone was very friendly and helpful. We ordered pizza, an appetizer sampler and a sandwich. The pizza is by far the best part of this place. The wings were really tasty, but kind of small. I think the food was delicious but I give it 4 stars because the price point is kind of high.

Came here with my best friend for some pizza since we were in the area. Theres a lot of indoor seating to choose from, but there was a lot of kids running around, which we didn't really expect, so it was sort of loud and lively. The staff were nice, but we had to ask like 3 times for water cups because they kept forgetting and they just left it on the dispenser as opposed to giving it to us. The pizza came out pretty quick though and was decent.

We ate one lol.

The pizza was DELISH! I love this thin style ! We ordered a submasandwich to share with wedges , BUT it only came with four tiny potato wedges. I've never seen a smaller side of wedges. The sandwich was not what I expected. It was yummy ! In a calzone style crust.

I saw this place when I was taking a walk waiting for an appointment and had to try it. I wasn't that hungry but I had heard that they have very thin pizzas and fresh toppings. The place has many arcade machines and game machines to use while waiting or if you have kids to entertain them if you are dining in. Very Cool!! Great ambiance and quick service. I got an individual pizza with ham mushrooms and bacon. They had lunch specials including salad and a drink for the same as I paid for just the individual...however they never recommended that so I just got the pizza and a side of ranch. Their ranch is very very good. . I will definitely come back and do the lunch special next time.

The service was really bad. The workers didn't even greet you when you walked in. They definitely need better utensils. The plates are not cutting it. Better plates. Once we got our food, the worker just seemed like they didnt want to work there at all. Kind of threw our pizzas on the table and didn't even say "enjoy your food" or anything. The ambience was horrible. They didn't even check up on us asking if everything was ok. We asked them for 3 boxes for our X Large pizzas and sides leftovers and they said "we can only give you 2" and they gave us small boxes that didn't fit most of the food. We had to stuff everything into the boxes. Also the counters were a mess.

Pretty good pizza with classic pizzeria ambiance. The fact that a kids soccer team was celebrating the end of their season there really played that up lol. It was like a movie. Found an open booth in back to enjoy a medium pineapple pizza with my son. The booth upholstery has clearly seen some things. If this restaurant were a movie set, they would win an Oscar for the details. The pizza came out hot and fairly quickly after paying. I appreciate that you can see them roll the dough and make your pizza from the open kitchen next to the register. One gripe is that since the pandemic pizzerias have been less generous with peppers and Parmesan. A medium one top was $16, I feel like I shouldn't have to ask for these things and when I do I should get more than two for an entiiiire pizza. Idk but it was a nice pie overall!

Just like the mural on the wall.. Cali fresh produce....

Our entrees included Chicken parmigiana (8/10), veal parmigiana (7/10) , and bacon carbonara with shrimp (8/10), quite rich and creamy, but not goopy. All quite good. Nice that they have Peroni on tap, tasted fairly fresh (8/10). Veal cutlet portion felt a little undersized but chicken was hearty, and red sauce (both marinara and meat sauce) are deep red, slightly thick and pasty...not a light sauce. Service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal, except for the end (when we suffered a accidental water spill and had to mop it uo ourselves). Garlic bread (6/10) was pale and had no taste of garlic: just butter, salt and pepper. At least it tasted fresh and warm. We had spumoni (9/10) and tiramisu (6/10) for dessert. Enjoyed the spumoni but I would skip tiramisu when coming back: beautifully presented but all the art was on the plate, instead of in the flavor of the tiramisu. Ricci's has been around since 1944. But from the outside and inside, you wouldn't guess that. The building seems pretty modern, as well as the interior, a somewhat classic upscale vibe. I really want to like this place (I have a fondness for historic dining) and I look forward to coming back to try the sandwiches and the pizza, both of which look good.

Caesar salad (4/5) - this was your classic Caesar salad that accompanied our pasta perfectly. Fried zucchini (5/5) - I love that the zucchini was sliced and crispy. We didn't have reservations, so we expected a wait. The restaurant was packed, and we ended up waiting about 30 minutes to be seated. We ordered the truffle garlic bread, spicy rigatoni vodka, squid ink tonnarreli and a pizza with half The Pig and half hot honey prosciutto. Spicy Rigatoni Vodka - 4/5 The dish was delicious, and you could definitely tell the pasta was handmade. It wasn't spicy at all to me, but I also have a pretty high spice tolerance. I do wish it had more meat, and the portion size felt a little small. I was shocked to find out it was nearly 2,000 calories for the amount served. Squid Ink Tonnarreli - 5/5 This was probably my favorite dish of the night. It was rich, savory, and really flavorful. I'd never had squid ink pasta before, although I've had Filipino squid cooked in squid ink many times. The dish came with squid, shrimp, and a spicy tomato-based sauce. We asked for it mild, but I honestly think it would've been even better spicy. The portion size was good too. Pizza - 3/5 Since they make handmade pasta, I assumed the pizza dough would be amazing, but it was just average. Parts of the crust were a little burnt. The Pig (their all-meat pizza) was okay but slightly too salty for me. The hot honey prosciutto side was better, although they were pretty light on the toppings. I probably wouldn't order pizza here again. Truffle Garlic Bread - 4/5 Really good, but overpriced at $18.50 for 9 small square pieces. The bread was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and very buttery. Customer Service - 5/5 Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and explained the menu really well. I appreciated that she mentioned the spice levels could be adjusted on certain dishes. She also refilled my iced tea without me having to ask and even brought me a to-go cup for it. Overall, we had a good experience. The food was solid, and the service was great. However, the portions felt a bit small for the price, especially compared to similar restaurants, and I was surprised they didn't offer complimentary bread. I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not sure if I'd go back regularly.

Yelp reviews brought us in but the food, the vibe, and Lisa and her family will bring us back when we're back in town. And the music was perfect which makes the vibe too cool. I had the fresh-made pappardelle bolognese special which was awesome and my son had his favorite pepperoni pizza. TIP: always look at the specials first but I got the feeling looking around that everything is good. I truly struggled with the menu for 10, ok 20 minutes because I wanted EVERYTHING! Seated right next to the kitchen was awesome as I saw all the food come out and was wrapped in fab food aromas making my choice harder. Located in the same space at Bakers and Baristas, the restaurant was flipped into Luka in the evening hours. Dimly lit for a romantic vibe, the ambiance was warm yet approachable. What initially drew me to Luka was seeing photos of their Chicken Liver Mousse! The mousse itself is rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious! It comes on a croissant with a seasonal fruit compote (ours was blueberry). It's also so gorgeous! A dish that truly tasted as good as it looks. The next dish we had was the Grilled Oyster Mushrooms. These completely blew us away! Something about the use of agrodolce, garlic, fennel pollen, chili powder, and red harissa made the flavor so savory and complex. I've never had mushrooms prepared in this way before. I will really miss these! We also had the Brussel Sprouts with pork jus glaze, chicharron, scallion, and fresno. I really enjoyed the different textures from the ingredients, including the crunch from the chicharrons. We had to get one of their signature dishes, the Potato Situation! Crispy on the outside with potato and melted provolone on the inside, they give a very generous portion of parmigiano reggiano and chive dust on top. Such a fun dish to cut into! For our last dish, we got the Crab Pasta. It came with fusilli, a rich cream sauce, capers, and calabrian toasted panko--a great ending to the meal!
