I just want to learn enough to keep up with certain family members without risk of serious injury on the mountain, so I'm motivated but still scared, and the team made me feel at ease. It seems like they thought of everything at the facility; there are clean bathroom/locker rooms, cubbies for all your things, gear, and even a little bar area with coffee, snacks, and beer/wine for after a lesson or while watching your kiddos learn. Overall we had a great experience and look forward to the indoor lessons that *hopefully* will help me keep up with the fam on mountain. Oh, and my husband felt like the facility will really help him improve his on-mountain technique despite already being a great skier. So, great for everyone between newbie to experience skier. The employees were very helpful in teaching us how to do various tricks. My boyfriend went from never stepping foot on a trampoline to almost doing a backflip within a few hours. Instead of giving into their frustration about lack of progress and hating messing with their bindings etc, I decided to book some open time at Shredder to work with them directly on the fundamentals. This was a perfect setting where they didn't need to worry about being bundled up, their gloves etc and could instead just focus on walking up the ramp, getting comfy with their bindings and working on leaf turns, heel stops, etc. The staff is very helpful and engaging and would squirt the artificial turf to help them go faster after they started to get better. A small complaint is we wish the ramp were longer as it's harder to combine multiple turns in a single run. This is a great place during spring / summer / fall for a quick review on the basics prior to heading to the slopes. They also offer camps, summer camps, seasonal lessons, etc. We brought our own gear but they have skis snow boards, boots and helmets available.

Which means there are lots of things to keep kids busy and exhausted before and after class.

When it came time to practice skiing, I was struggling to move, and he left me to figure it out. When I got to the area he was at with the rest of the group, I asked him to catch me up, and he said just to watch the others. Even after practicing and watching him help others, he still would not help me. I sat to the side, frustrated, and he never checked on me once. I was able to get a refund from the school. The reason I give 3 stars is that this school has very kind instructors who helped me when my fiancé was teaching me. It was not a one-off experience because my friend, who was in the ski lessons with me, was also told to just learn by watching others. If we are paying $150, our instructor should be more hands-on. I saw he was being monitored after my complaint, but he still treated the students the same.

At its most basic, Vail Nordic Center provides opportunities to participate in alternative winter…read moresports at inexpensive prices compared to alpine skiing. At its best, Vail Nordic Center is a gateway to immersion into a new sport thanks to the great facilities and passionate staff. Day passes here are like $22 and a full gear rental and pass is ~$55. The single negative review mentioning that it is $55 just to rent gear is not accurate, and, in any case, I find it impressive that the price for a day pass and rental has apparently not changed over the last four years. (There is no Epic discount btw). After my second day, I was sure that I wanted to buy a skate ski setup. Not only were my rental fees credited, but there was a 20% discount for buying skis, boots, and poles. Went right back the next day and had another very fun outing. I cannot say enough about how different this place feels from the commercialized and disinterested rental/info/operation stuff you find at most alpine resorts. This is a different world. I'm an experienced downhill skier, but while walking less experienced friends through the typical rental, pass, lesson, (etc) processes at Vail, I was surprised to find tension and an element of dysfunction at nearly every step. At the Nordic Center, you pay a trivial amount of money and every single employee in the place wants to know how your day was and if there's anything they can do to help you. Even out on the trails, which are substantial and in great shape, almost everyone is smiling and waving. Strong recommendation from me.

Other Spot locations have rope climbing and auto-belays but this location does not. There's a gym area upstairs which is a little dingy but it has a rack, weights and overall super solid. Compared to BRC I found the crowd steered younger. Whether that's a positive or negative depends on the vibe you want. No complaints. I've had a membership for over a year and plan on continuing to have one.

It smells like feet moreso than other gyms I've been to. The place is compact for the amount of climbs it has. Climbs: Nice variety of climbs that are fun and challenging. I like the natural wall in the back. Holds could be cleaner (i.e. some holds are so dirty you might mistake it for another color, feels extra greasy). The climbing tape markings are not well maintained (i.e. missing start tape so you're not sure what's considered the intended start).
