I found their behavior to be unprofessional and disappointing. Specifically, receiving weird looks, lack of communication, and felt rushed to make a decision. Ever since the establishment changed owners this place is just not like it used to be. As a member/guest, I expect to be treated with courtesy, respect, and professionalism. Unfortunately, this interaction did not meet those expectations. and negatively affected my experience at the YMCA. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and addressed appropriately. My intention is not simply to complain, but to help ensure that all members and visitors receive respectful and professional service. Thank you for taking the time to review my concerns. I appreciate your attention to this matter and would welcome a response regarding any actions taken or the outcome of your review.

Began emailing this YMCA with interest in renting out a space for a birthday party…read more The coordinator and I briefly corresponded via email before she asked that I call her instead. I called and left a voicemail with all my information, even though most of it was shared in the emails. I waited for her response. After a week of no call back, I sent another email. I wanted to see whether this was my venue choice or another one that I had my eye on. I called again this week (now a months time since the first email) and was told she was not in office, so I left another voicemail. I decided it was no longer worth it and went with my first venue choice only to learn that while I waited for this coordinator's response, the other venue had booked up. I am now left without a venue and have family flying in from out of state.

He even guided me towards learning how to use the YCLT+ app on my phone so I could check in without having to use the handheld membership pass. This gym is clean and well ventilated and I love it. I usually go in the morning, so not a lot of people there. I've been to many YMCA in Charlotte and this is one of my favorites. In the morning, it's an older crowd. Which is great for me I'm not looking for a show stopping crowd. I go to the gym to work out and for my health not for a runway show so if that's what you're looking for this is the YMCA for you. This YMCA also provides workout classes as well that you can choose from that's included with your membership. There's also a swimming pool and a locker room where you can shower after each workout. There's a basketball court and also childcare area, but I'm not sure how that works. There is also lots of parking.

Researched YMCA's close to our hotel and went to the McCrorey YMCA in Charlotte. Used my reciprocity with Silver Sneakers membership from Jamestown, with use of the facility for FREE. The indoor pool at the McCrorey Branch was fantastic, a nice respite on a very rainy day. The lifeguard and entire staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. Everything was clean, from the front lobby, locker room, to the pool. I highly recommend the McCrorey YMCA for everyone.

The classes I've done are good, and the staff has been nothing but friendly. Locker room is clean as is the pool. I do wish they'd patrol the parking lot more in the evening (especially Friday) as numerous people park here and go to the surrounding restaurants and bars, making it difficult for members to find parking.

I stopped by recently because it was convenient and brought a guest with me. Before doing anything, I asked the woman at the front desk how the guest policy worked. She didn't really explain it and instead just asked for my guest's information. I assumed she was simply checking the system to see if my guest had visited before. I stepped away for a moment to check whether the court was crowded, and while doing that, something came up that required me to leave earlier than expected. When I came back to the desk, I told her never mind and that I needed to leave. She responded, "It's okay, I sent the receipt to your email." That caught me off guard. I assumed it was just confirmation of entering my guest's information, especially since I thought guests used to be free (which is why I asked about the policy beforehand). When I checked my email, I saw that I had been charged $20. The issue isn't the money, it's the lack of communication. Before charging someone, the process and cost should be clearly explained. I've never had issues at the other locations I visit, so this felt like a one off experience, but it's enough that I probably won't return to this location.

For the record I had on Birkenstocks and I wear these shoes all the time to the gym and they've never said ANYTHING nor have I ever had an issue. I understand it's for safety to have fitted shoes but I don't always bring extra shoes with me every where I go, especially because I was just tryna make a quick stop to work out after running errands all day. A YMCA membership is not cheap, respectfully they shouldn't be kicking their guest out for not having proper attire. If they're going to do this provide backup attire or at least give me a warning for next time.‍ Fortunately the woman was kind about it but she didn't even allow me to work out since I was already there!! She kept apologizing like that's gonna give me my time back, this is my only day off and I don't have time to drive back and forth over some shoes.

If you're looking for instructors who genuinely care about children, I highly recommend choosing…read moreThe Little Gym over Perfect Balance. While the monthly cost at The Little Gym may be slightly higher, the overall experience is significantly better. My son is three years old, and like many children his age, listening is still a skill we're working on. I initially thought Perfect Balance would be a great place for him to develop new skills and improve focus. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. During one class, the instructor became visibly irritated when my son got distracted or didn't follow instructions. At the end of class, she had him line up with the other children to receive a stamp for participation. She even dipped the stamp in the ink pad, only to look him in the eye and tell him he wasn't getting a stamp because he hadn't listened. I understand the importance of teaching children accountability, but I strongly believe the instructor's approach was unnecessarily petty and inappropriate for a three-year-old. If she felt it was important for him not to receive a stamp, she could have spoken to me directly. I would have respected that. But having him go through the motions--only to publicly deny him a small reward--felt more like punishment than a teaching moment. Because of this experience, I ended our membership effective immediately. We will continue going to The Little Gym, where the instructors are patient, supportive, and understand that children--especially toddlers--have good and bad days. They work with him, not against him. One final thought for any parent considering Perfect Balance: my son also participates in Soccer Shots, where I regularly see other three-year-olds wander off, lose focus, or struggle to follow instructions. Yet, at the end of practice, those children still receive stamps and stickers--not because they performed perfectly, but because they showed up and tried. Why? Because they're three, they're still learning and that deserves encouragement, not shame.

WAYYYYY too many times I had to check someone else's child becasue their parents failed to do so. Parents sit in the car or are too busy on their phones and laptops. They treat this place like a drop in daycare. The amount of times I've seen a brat harass my child and nothing was done is ridiculous. My child simply wants to learn a cartwheel. One simple thing. I even paid for privates. Yet nothing. It appears you have to be a certain color or have the same views as the people who work there in order for your kid to advance to the next level or else your kid is just there for fun, not to learn and grow in their craft. They mainly cater towards white boys and push the black girls to the side. Ive seen the girls team practice and the boys team practice and the boys get more instruction and conditioning than the girls. It's a shame because the girls are all black, I wonder how it would be if the girls were white.
