This trail changes its beauty for each season. So, check the weather and bring plenty of gear, water, and snacks. On these trails you may encounter horses, cows, dogs, moose, many wild small animals, and people on bikes. Stay on the path! This is a packed dirt trail. The perfect footwear is hiking boots, snow boots, or jogging shoes for mile high runners. At the trail head has restrooms, maps of all the trails, and a paved parking lot. If I wanted a small walk or jog my go to is the Juniper trail. It does have elevation, but the trail is flat for jogging, and the view is breath taking. This is a hidden gem.

This park has a great view of some mountains in the distant background and multiple physical activity opportunities for people of abilities the path is wheelchair accessible bicycle welcome and dog friendly. The path is mostly Gravel with no major impossible rats and looks very well maintained there are benches throughout. Just not the initial part where my mom needed one so she turned around and went back. A time was had by all.

Despite all these recreation options, I could only find one porta-potty in the parking lot. No drinking fountains. I confirmed with a regular visitor that was it. It shares a parking lot with the Broomfield Depot Museum so maybe there are restrooms in there? But the Depot Museum is only open on Saturdays from 9-3 according to the website so that doesn't work. My point is come prepared. It's about a quarter mile walk to commercial so that's an option as well. The material under the play structure was all wood chips. Not my favorite but probably the most common material for playgrounds these days. Two toddler swings and one regular swing (I think one was broken). There was also a pretty fun spinning stool shaped like a leaf and one of the ladders going up to the monkey bars also spun. Lots of things to climb on. My toddler had fun. But the lack of restrooms and drinking fountains for such a large park makes me sad.

This is not a "must do" hike, but it is a nice alternative to busy trails. Pattridge Open Space…read morewill give you good views of the foothills in-between Golden and Boulder plus some of North Table Mountain and Leyden Creek. You'll most likely be the only one here, but there is an area for flying model airplanes so you might catch views of those. After parking you can head east along the Leyden Creek Trail, or turn south and climb the short but steep trail up to the top of the hill. The 1.5 mile trail loop is not well established in some parts. The out and back trail following Leyden Creek is wider, better established, and would be good for running. This is also a nice relaxing place for dog walking, if you're in the area. High possibility of spotting prairie dogs, snakes, and bald eagles. I personally enjoyed coming here for a sunrise with my four legged friend.

You can street park and jump on the loop sidewalk surrounding a small pond. There's a nice fountain and birds are often gathering. My dog enjoys all the smells and woods features. Lots of trees. It's a nice place for a picnic too with a big shelter. You could even pull over on a road trip and take a little stroll. Close to the school and shopping center.

It was interesting to see the flood lines on the trees along the river. This is a free hike. We parked at the Rogers Grove Park lot and picked up the trail from there. It crosses under Hover St/N 95th St. It is an easy walk with very little elevation gain. We walked to the St. Vrain River Waterfall and watched the ducks for a bit. This was a lovely stop while making our way up to Fort Collins.

Golden Ponds is great for what it is. Is it secluded with no sight or sound of roads, houses,…read morepeople? No. Does it feel like a bit of untapped nature within a short drive of your neighborhood making it easy to frequent? Absolutely! Many people walk, jog, and take their dogs here. I often see fishing as well. There are not too many bicycles. It is also great for any birders interested in water fowl, such as pelicans, cormorants, blue heron, and ducks. We have enjoyed taking our dogs to Golden Ponds over the years. With the area having a few ponds, you can switch up your walk. Some areas around the ponds are full sun and others offer a shaded reprieve. I have not had any issues finding parking, which is free. The park also has benches around ponds, canopied picnic tables, and flushing toilets in the restrooms near the entrance.

There are a few fun exercise stations along the path near the lake. A really awesome natural park, so much fun for all ages of kids. We live in the area; we frequently take the dog for a walk around the lake. Some pretty views, too. We've watched eagles fly across and around the lake.
