You may not even know if the newly built West Woods Community/Police Station just to the south of the park. I barely noticed the park when biking past its entrance. I only went seeking it out when I heard kids on the playground. They've got an extensive walking path around the outside of the park, with interspersed rock, paths in the center connecting the covered picnic areas and the playground. The playground includes two 'rock' boulders with a rope between the two, a couple swing sets, and a dinky slide. Adjacent to the playground, though, is a decently sized grass field. There's also a horseshoe pit on the northside of the grass field with a covered area for seating. It's a hidden gem, with plenty to offer.

Wish I had playgrounds like this when I was a kid. It's both aesthetically pleasing design and color wise as well as imaginative from its obvious layout design and open imaginative play design. (Nobody does but it gets the people going.) A fair amount of people loitering nearby. Park is open to all but the trash is not ideal for families and children to play. The park and playground are clean but you definitely see some refuse around that shouldn't be.

Despite all these recreation options, I could only find one porta-potty in the parking lot. No drinking fountains. I confirmed with a regular visitor that was it. It shares a parking lot with the Broomfield Depot Museum so maybe there are restrooms in there? But the Depot Museum is only open on Saturdays from 9-3 according to the website so that doesn't work. My point is come prepared. It's about a quarter mile walk to commercial so that's an option as well. The material under the play structure was all wood chips. Not my favorite but probably the most common material for playgrounds these days. Two toddler swings and one regular swing (I think one was broken). There was also a pretty fun spinning stool shaped like a leaf and one of the ladders going up to the monkey bars also spun. Lots of things to climb on. My toddler had fun. But the lack of restrooms and drinking fountains for such a large park makes me sad.

It's always nice to find a hidden/unknown place that nobody has ever given it a review. I was…read morerunning a few errands in Westminster today (Sunday, May 22, 2022) and accidentally drove by it on the way to get home. I HAD to make a stop and investigate it as the Savery Savory Mushroom Water Tower, the only intact remnant of the original collection of structures didn't escape my eye/attention (how could it escape it?; it's a very tall water tower!) This was the site by a guy named Charles William Savery from Pennsylvania, who bought a 80-acre farm in what is now Westminster in 1918. Long story short, the mushroom farm which Charles built is no longer there but having one of the remnant structures, the city of Westminster built a pond in 1995. The pond, which was originally built to hold storm water, is now a habitat for many species of insects, plants, birds, fish, I mean you name it, right? The pond itself is not massive but is a good size. Once at the trailhead, you can have an extensive walk/running/bike ride as the trails are extensive (to all sorts of directions). Several parks (Foxshire Park, Valley View Park, Meadowlark Park) and Legacy Ridge Golf Course are what surround this pond. Niver Canal that runs through the area is so picturesque and you can walk/jog/run/bike along the canal if you choose. The homeowners have access to the trail(s) right from their backyard gates. Some neighbors were having an afternoon cocktail in their backyard; some were chitchatting over their property fence. It is such a beautiful area with lots of green. And the city of Westminster and the residents do well by maintaining this whole area impeccably clean and immaculate. It sure was a nice discovery!
