It was unflattering, and although I wasn't overweight, my abdomen was far from flat, bulging around each of those scars. I felt uncomfortable in my skin, clothes did not fit right, and I just wasn't happy. A consultation with Dr. Cho put me at ease about my decision to move forward with an abdominoplasty, and the results are incredible. I interviewed with several surgeons before finally deciding on Dr. Cho. Besides his amazing bedside manner and his ability to put me completely at ease, Dr. Cho was the only surgeon I interviewed that insisted on keeping me overnight in Straub Hospital after the surgery. Even with that overnight stay, the cost was comparable to that of the other surgeons. The other surgeons all intended to send me home after surgery. After experiencing this major surgery, there is no way I would have been able to go home afterwards, much less care for myself during that first 24 hours post-surgery. I am also grateful for the care and concern provided by his amazing staff before, during, and after my surgery. It's been nearly three years since my surgery and the scars are, for the most part, invisible. Dr. Cho had me come back to restitch the "dog ears" of my trans-abdominal scar as well as my old belly button because he wasn't 100% satisfied with how they looked. (My original belly button had to be moved, and Dr. Cho crafted me a new one which is an absolute work of art.) He did not charge me for that follow-up service. For the record, I thought the scars looked fine, but Dr. Cho is a perfectionist, which I appreciate! The procedure itself was just as I expected. I was awake the whole time, chatting and filling the room with lots of laughter. We even experienced a bit of an actual earthquake, too! I felt no pain, aside from the needle injection of tumescent which didn't last long at all. There is a lot of what feels like pushing and tugging but I was more concerned with Dr. M's back being sore from being hunched over (he's so tall!). There remains beneath-the-surface healing but the worst part is long in the past and was short-lived. I went home with my face bandaged like a mummy (kidding), and was able to open my mouth just enough to slurp some soup (not kidding). Whatever your instructions are from your surgeon, follow them! COST: I initially went for a consultation at another clinic, and I was quoted prices that were not only out of line for the procedure I wanted but were genuinely astronomical. It stands to reason they would charge so much more when you realize that you are paying for nearly 100 staff members who mostly do everything but surgery (i.e., facials, etc.). After doing my due diligence, speaking with a number of women who have been patients of Dr. Feguson, and then coming in for the initial consult, I was so thoroughly impressed by Emma, Theresa, and company that I paid for everything right there on the spot. The total cost was slightly less than half of what the other joint quoted me. RESULTS: Let's face it... we're all getting older, and some of us are uglier than others. I was getting so ugly and wrinkly that I would wear a wig backward, put a mask on the back of my head, and walk in reverse everywhere I went. I'm not kidding. Small children would shriek and cry, women would shout "EEK!" and run away, and dogs would make that high-pitched howling they do when they hear a fire engine siren. Doctor Ferguson fixed that problem, and now I can't keep my hands off myself. I'm sure that is probably illegal in several states, but I don't care. After the procedure, I was extremely pleased with my appearance and received many compliments on my skin. One more thing, he's an excellent plastic surgeon. When my 2 yr old son fell and hit the middle of his forehead on a concrete stair, Dr. Lozada expertly stitched him up. My son is 21 years old as of this writing and you can't see the scar at all.
