Strait is my new go to for breakfast and light lunch. Great omelette and lovely salads. Sweet, friendly service and delicious baked goods. Key Lime almost like Savannah Georgia--not quite as pucker-worthy as a southern key lime pie but still a good mix of sweet and sour. My only complaint is the roast of the coffee which was popularized by Seattle coffee shops. Even their light roast has that turpentine tang of burnt beans. A coffee roaster friend said it comes through after milk and sugar. A good bean well roasted should be sweet enough. A good coffee should be drunk black. Over roasting destroys all the subtle overtones of a good coffee. read more

Another great coffee shop on the Sunshine Coast, we got a sausage roll and a drink to go which was their version of the London fog. I felt the drink was a little sweet but the sausage roll heated up was great. Would recommend if you were ever in the neighbourhood! read more

I'm always for the local coffee shops and this one is a good find in the area. They have alternative milks as well. Great selection of pastries to go along with your coffee. They also have fruit smoothies which are good options for kids or the non-coffee drinkers. Big and roomy dining area inside, as well as a few tables outside. Great coffee place! read more

We lucked out with this stop on the coast. This is a nice, locally owned cafe that roasts their own fair trade beans. With a pretty good layout, nice decor and limited outside seating offered, this is probably the local place to sit and surf. They were near closing when we 4 travelers arrived but our welcome was warm regardless. At least I can say that for the barrista. I felt that she was being hurried a bit by the owner couple to complete the sale and sweep us out, I also felt a bit gypped that they charged me 57cents to have Soy in an 8oz cup (which I brought in, myself, I mean come on!) Maybe for a 20 oz I could understand the charge, but for this teeny sized cup it was too much coupled together with the owner woman's curtness, leaving a bad taste in my mouth that overrode the flavour of my lovely Soy Capp. I would however stop in again on another ramble. read more

This place is always packed! Be aware it is often difficult to find seating, though you could always ask the person sitting alone at a table for two if they're willing to share space. The soup tastes freshly prepared and does not skimp on complexity! The quiche is also well executed and this is a great place for a light lunch and coffee. I enjoyed the chai latte as well. Wonderful bread on the sandwiches. We were just looking for a place to eat when we had car trouble, and the shop recommended the food here. Good selection for all tastes. I had the chicken salad which had fresh herbs and cranberries, and hubby tried the club house which had a flavoured mayo he really enjoyed. Since we had time to kill, we tried the strawberry shortcake too, which was refreshing. No issues with seating or a wait. read more

The atmosphere and vibe of Strait Coffee is upbeat and cosy. A great place to meet with friends and enjoy a cup of tea, a coffee, or share one of their divinely decadent cheescakes. I'm a big fan of their Matcha Lattes. The prices are comparable to big companies like Starbucks, maybe a few cents more. All the baking is done in house and they roast their own coffee too, which for me makes it worth the extra pennies. read more

They make a darn good cup of coffee and the scrambled egg croissant is a must. We always stop here when going to or from the ferry in the morning. That croissant makes getting up and driving a lot easier. Decent atmosphere. The strip mall location isn't the most scenic, but its pretty convenient. read more

Horrible service, coffee was not good at all. Owner sits in business and is very obnoxious. If you want a peaceful drink of a good cup of coffee, McDonoalds is better than these guys. Plenty of other coffee shops in the area, save your money go on to Sechelt or Gibsons. read more
