Just tossed it to us and said. Your good. Then gave each of our kids a quarter for the gum-ball machine. So when my bear hunting boys asked me to pick up a flashlight. Where do you think I went? Yep. Back to the place where we got special treatment. The owner helped me this time. He was very patient with me as I really didn't know what to get. I knew my son wanted top of the line. So he gave me a couple of options. With a nice price difference. I purchased an awesome flashlight for my son and my husband. The owner was so helpful and kind. Let's just say his worker who gave us 2 free quarters and a free bottle opener ended up turning into a return visit where we spent over $130.00. I guarantee I will be back again before we leave too. Because my husband blessed our bear guide by giving him his flashlight. lol

When we camp up in Northern Maine, we will often stop here as a day trip. Very few bookstores like…read morethis still exist in Maine, and it is massive! Books on every subject you can imagine! If you are looking for something the store probably has it. Old books to new books, there are thousands. If it wasn't 4 hours north of me I'd shop there all the time! Well organized and cool to look through the different rooms. The service is usually pretty good and they'll help you find whatever you're looking for. Prices are pretty reasonable on the books as well, though some are priced higher than others. Now to the negatives. There isn't a public restroom. With a shop this big, there should be. If you need to use a restroom you have to leave and find one elsewhere, then return if you want to keep shopping. It's really inconvenient. A big problem is that the shop is CASH ONLY, with no ATM available. I get why smaller businesses opt out of credit/debit cards, but this bookstore is big (in size) and a lot of people, myself included, rarely carry cash. Like with the restroom, you have to leave to find an ATM somewhere to be able to pay for your books.

I arrived on a Sunday morning and just walked around for about 2 hours. We all got to chatting and realized how small the world is as we are both from the same area in PA. There are many Maine themed items but there is just so much more to their store than Maine. The pricing is very reasonable and they run sales from time to time. They helped a local who was getting married. She was looking for some cute plates etc for her wedding table scape and these boys came through for her! There are items from other states as well like PA, NY, DE, NJ, and so much more. These partners started in PA and moved up to Maine a few years ago and brought their goodies with them. I found so many items that I brought back to VA, and added to my Maine themed dining room. The support they have for other businesses is amazing. They help each other out and that is just so nice to see. There is a great restaurant just down the street (Salted Butter Farm) to fuel up and then just head into Island Falls 30-40 min away and hit up Ashely at The Rummage for some more antiques. Go make it a day! You can find them online as well. Follow their social media for updates too.
