They also have an abundance of maple goodies. They have syrups, maple powder, maple candies and so much more. I purchased a small maple syrup for $4. Perfectly priced gift item! I highly recommend stopping in to see what they have.

When we camp up in Northern Maine, we will often stop here as a day trip. Very few bookstores like…read morethis still exist in Maine, and it is massive! Books on every subject you can imagine! If you are looking for something the store probably has it. Old books to new books, there are thousands. If it wasn't 4 hours north of me I'd shop there all the time! Well organized and cool to look through the different rooms. The service is usually pretty good and they'll help you find whatever you're looking for. Prices are pretty reasonable on the books as well, though some are priced higher than others. Now to the negatives. There isn't a public restroom. With a shop this big, there should be. If you need to use a restroom you have to leave and find one elsewhere, then return if you want to keep shopping. It's really inconvenient. A big problem is that the shop is CASH ONLY, with no ATM available. I get why smaller businesses opt out of credit/debit cards, but this bookstore is big (in size) and a lot of people, myself included, rarely carry cash. Like with the restroom, you have to leave to find an ATM somewhere to be able to pay for your books.

Very nice gallery with high quality art works from artists with local connections. I picked up two…read morebooks regarding Baxter State Park, signed by the authors. The owner, Marcia, was wonderful and offered a shipping service for our purchase. In addition to my pleasant browsing and shopping experience, I had the opportunity to talk to some other local business owners. I would recommend visiting, even if only browsing.

This is an AMAZING shop. There is so much here - every time I go in, I find different and more…read morethings! Someone rated it as pricey, but there's actually a huge variety of items here at many prices - many that are less expensive than you'll find elsewhere (seriously, $20 for a handmade wreath?!), and many items that are under $10. Everything is locally made, which i awesome for supporting local artisans, the community, and events. And Tricia - what a SUPER AWESOME person. If there's anything you need, she'll know how to get it. She gets things done. Even when it's something that isn't in the store (like knowing somehow EXACTLY what we needed for dinner and where to get it, she told us what we wanted, and when we agreed or made revisions, she called and told them what to give us). Plus, she's wicked funny. I feel like she's my own personal soul mate, but I think I'm probably not the only one who feels like she's a kindred spirit! Aside from this shop being wicked cool on an everyday basis, they went above and beyond to support the local event, the Millinocket Marathon & Half. They had medals locally made. Made tee shirts for the event. Had artisans make painted on slate ornaments commemorating it. Stood in the road to cheer runners in (and ran some in), stopped traffic so runners could proceed. They hosted packet pickup, were open crazy early to crazy late. Acted as designated drivers for the dance party Saturday night. But getting back to Moose Drop In - they were well over their usual for a given day... wall to wall people buying, needing, asking questions, wanting tee shirts made, asking directions, you name it. They never missed a step. Made everyone happy. Can't wait to come back!

To busy talking and joking and not available to help if they do not know you. I walked in to look…read morearound and it took over 10 minutes before they said hello then they went back to carry on a conversation with other people. I was told of some classes and wanted more information but they were to busy talking to ask. Another customer was standing there and she spoke to me of this place and stated that the courses were very pricey and they do not supply anything for the high price. She stated she did a knit class and was only taught the basics in which she already knew.

It is wonderful for there to be a store where one can purchase quality yarns at affordable prices in this area of Maine. The woman (Carol?) who was tending the shop was very friendly and helpful. She was very down-to-earth and most definitely not a yarn snob. She has a good range of products in the store from acrylic blends at the low end of the scale to mid priced yarns made of alpaca, mohair, angora, and - of course - wool. There were a few things on clearance and I snagged a bag of cotton dk and I also indulged in a couple of little balls of angora. It was a very nice shopping experience and I will definitely be back to shop there again. As a side note, when I asked about a few luxury yarns in particular, she did mention that she is happy to order anything that she doesn't have in the shop (provided that she can get it from one of her suppliers, of course). It is becoming more and more difficult to find a store with good customer service (especially as we, in our shopping frenzy, continue to settle for less for our hard earned dollar). I will never patronize an establishment that does not make me feel appreciated. Thankfully, this store made me feel good about spending my time and money here.
