Essentials (another fabulous store) shares the space. Strada is easy to navigate and the service is professional and staff is friendly and highly knowledgeable. I came here looking for a pair of winter boots and was very pleased to find a wide selection of high quality boots, and a sale that meant I ended up paying far less than sticker price. The young woman working here was attentive, friendly, and helpful. She did not pressure me into buying anything, yet she let me know that she was there to help if I needed it. She was a good listener and was able to show me several boot options that fit my criteria. There was another woman shopping in the store, and the employee did a great job of helping both of us simultaneously without getting overwhelmed or neglecting either customer. After I chose a pair of boots, she offered to take them outside and spray them down with extra waterproofing sealant, free of charge. I am very impressed with the level of care given to customers at this store. I ended up with a pair of Rieker boots that I am extremely happy with. Warm, insulated, breathable, comfortable, waterproof, sturdy. I know these boots will hold up for several winters. I could not recommend this store enough. *Note: to those who have given this store bad reviews due to poor service during a sidewalk sale, I would offer the idea that the Northampton sidewalk sales are extremely overcrowded and chaotic. I cannot imagine any store offering their normal level of customer service during one of these madhouse shopping events. You are much better off visiting this store during a normal, quiet business day. read more

Stopped in during the sidewalk sale. Staff was completely invisible. Go ahead and try to figure out who works here. Went inside to ask for help and found a guy running around, huffing and trying to look busy. After watching him for a minute, I realized he wan't actually busy with anything, just trying to look it so that he didn't have to wait on anybody. Finally interrupted his "fluttering about" to ask a question which he looked inconvenienced to answer. Not once did he ask if he could get me the match to either of the shoes in my hand. He briefly answered my question and then went back to doing nothing. I put the two shoes down that I was interested in buying and left the store. How are these people still in business? Rude, anti-social, and in need of some very basic customer service training. Buh-bye. read more

It looks like the store has changed a great bit as my experiences at there have been very different than what is posted. The prices are high but the quality is superior. I get regular compliments on my Strada shoes! I have also found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Very nice and a great selection of Dansko and Sanita clogs. They didn't have the size I needed, but were super nice.

Just know if you buy shoes there they only offer a 6 month guarantee even if the manufacturer offers 1 year. My $118 Rieker shoes already have a hole in them (more than 6 months, but less than a year old) and I'm SOL because Rieker will only allow the shoe store to send back the shoes and the shoe stores says tough s**t. The United Corporations of America wants your money, but refuses to offer customer service. Will NEVER buy from them again in spite of loving these shoes. read more

Strada Shoes has some of the most rude and obnoxious sales personnel I have ever encountered. In the Northampton area just mentioning Strada typically gets a response, " they're so mean and unhelpful there." I've stopped going there. I used to spend $300-$400 there at a time. They do not stand behind what they sell. The last time I bought a $125 pair of sandals there, that within one week needed some re-glueing, they told me to go to the local shoe repair shop. I re-glued them myself. That was the last straw. Zanna in Amherst is a MUCH better option. Same shoes, much better service! read more

William is amazing and his store has an incredible selection of unique comfortable shoes that you won't find just anywhere. Upon wearing my new Bed Stu sandals one time a seam came loose. I called William and he told me he'd fix them up for me at no cost. I dropped them at the store and within 10 days my repaired sandals were shipped to me in Los Angeles at no cost! Wanted to purchase a pair of Wolkys, they didn't have my size, refused to order me a pair to the store and refused to let me know the name of style so that I don't find it online. Great selection of stylish high quality European shoes, styles you dont find elsewhere. Last winter bought a sick pair of Reiker boots and after wearing them for a few months had zipper problems. Since I'd paid a lot for them I contacted the store to see about replacing them. Though my issue was not addressed right away, eventually they replaced them! Though that's the right thing to do, it rarely happens unless they are broken when you buy them. I go out of my way to stop in there when I'm in town though I live in NYC now. read more

This store is the only store in the valley that carries certain brands -- i.e. Born, Reiker, Pikolinos, Beautifeel, etc. The girls that work there are VERY nice, helpful, and not pushy -- which I appreciate. However, the owner/manager fellow is so unpleasant, and is missing the very basic customer service approach of advocating for the customer. On several occasions, I have been interested in a shoe but they do not have my size in stock. The girl helping me asked him if they could order it in my size for the store so I could try it on and he vigorously shook his head "no." She apologized to me and said they could order it but it would be final sale. Final sale on a pair of shoes I haven't tried on yet? No thank you! I can click two buttons on zappos.com and receive that kind of service. The benefit to a local shoe store is being able to try shoes on, compare to others in the store, and make a careful selection while supporting a local business. This guy obviously does not want my business. It's too bad, because I would be in here all the time. read more
