Absolutely loved our experience here! When you join the waitlist, you can't do more than a party of six. The host in the front was more than willing to accommodate our group of 7 when we came in, which was really nice! The outside looks extremely plain. Don't let that fool you because once you're inside, you're instantly teleported to a tiki bar that feels straight out of a vacation. The interior's theme was on point, lighting was dimmed and cozy, and we loved that there were two pool tables!! We were instantly given a pool table with some counter seats along the wall, it was perfect as our party was hoping to enjoy an activity while getting some drinks! Menu has a massive amount of different cocktails you can try, all Hawaiian themed with even creative cups for some of the cocktails! Drinks were on average ($14-17), which is not bad at all considering other places charge upwards of $20. Our favorite was the Dole Whip. It came out in a tall glass and was blended to perfection. You literally could not even taste the alcohol and it was sooo good, exactly like the taste of a Dole Whip from Disney only spiked! It was dangerous and actually got me more tipsy than I thought lol. This place has all the best vibes!! If you're looking for a tropical tiki escape from the OC suburbs, this is it. I love how unassuming the outside looks, with its black doors and no windows and simple sign. A perfect contrast to the vibrant, colorful, paradise inside! First of all, the staff and service were excellent! They were attentive and genuine and checked in regularly (but not too much!) and they all seemed happy to be there and interact with us customers. When our server brought our flaming drinks, she seemed like she was having a good time with the blow torch and her good vibes were contagious! We each ordered a cocktail and then shishito peppers for the table. The cocktails that stood out were the Black Sands and the Cococano. Both were default flaming drinks and were sweet and tasty! The botanical mystery is a good cocktail for anyone who wants a more simple and less sweet drink. The shishito peppers were AMAZING. I've had shishito peppers at other spots before, where they're usually roasted. The peppers here were unique because they had a crispy fried coating and a generous drizzle of dark brown sauce (a soy-based sauce or teriyaki perhaps?). It was so good and the perfect size for 4 people to snack on with drinks. This place was busy on a Thursday night around 8pm so I can imagine it must be even busier during the weekends. Make sure you either reserve ahead of time or join the Yelp waitlist! A little planning ahead of time will really go far and make the experience even better. We joined the wait-list while we were still out at dinner and about 45 minutes before we wanted to go, and the time estimate was accurate! I really appreciate it when restaurants have Yelp waitlist options because it really avoids people having to wait around outside for a long time. Will definitely be back here in the future! I was really blown away by this place. My friends and I were looking for somewhere to eat last minute and this is what we decided on. What intrigued us was the ambiance and it did not let down! They have an extensive drink menu and all the drinks we got were so much fun and strong. We had Don Q Punch, Mai Tai, Zombie, and Flamingo. The food paired well with our drinks! We got the Stowaway fries, the pineapple fried rice, and the Poke Bombs twice because it was too good. They also have a Magician come in on Sunday nights so that was a nice little surprise. But the main reason I am leaving a review is because my group was mainly comprised of girls in their 20's. During our meal, an older man approached us. The drinks are spot-on for the tiki vibe, especially with rum. My favorite was the BOOZY Zombie, with rum, pineapple, grapefruit, lime, passion fruit, and cinnamon--a strong, dark, drink with a nice cinnamon aftertaste. I loved that it came in an anglefish mug with a little umbrella light! Stowaway Fries are a MUST carb with cocktail drinks. It came out PIPING HOT, so thank goodness for forks. Yuuuum gravy! What a fabulous bar and third space in OC. At first glance, you might miss the entrance as it really does give a hole-in-the-wall vibe; however, upon walking in, you are immediately immersed in a tiki wonderland with gorgeous decor and delightful music. It's an incredibly roomy venue with pool tables, tiki huts, and spacious seats by the bar--just take your pick! I've been twice already, once with my partner, and another with a group of close friends. Both times the servers were hospitable and quick to accommodate any of our needs. The drink menu is extensive, reasonably priced, and well-themed. You'll definitely need a few minutes to peruse all of the items listed. Although there weren't any mocktails that I saw (I don't drink), they serve dole whip and I happily ordered one and split a couple of appys with the table. I mean, where are you gonna get dole whip anywhere else besides Disney?? It seemed as though my friends were extremely satisfied as well and even when it got busy it never felt too crowded or loud. The crowd of people were very friendly too. A lot of first dates happening and people just hanging out having a good time. The fact I have been here 3 times this month says a lot! I actually loved the original location at the district and had no idea they moved! When i discovered earlier this month their location is in Tustin I was ecstatic as it's closer to home. I do recommend reservations by all means as this place is always pretty busy. With that being said they also have a 90 minute timed seating which they truly enforce so don't expect to linger much unless you come closer to closing they may give you more time. Stowaway is a true tiki setting with dim lighting. Everything is done well and very spacious. Staff is incredibly kind from the hostess to the servers Chin and Carson. The happy hour here is on point from 4-6pm Monday through Friday. They have fantastic Mai tais for $8 and small bites. However, the regular food menu is delicious too. The burgers are huge and delicious. The chicken tenders are only two but large and you get a plate of fries. Otherwise with it being a tiki bar expect drinks on the sweeter side but still strong. The zombie and the rum runner are currently my favorite. They also have fun fish bowl options between $30-50 for groups of 3 or more. I love how you can add fire to any drink for $2. Had a great time here last night with the whole fam. This place has got it all... cool tiki bar/cave ambience. Fantastic and elaborate drinks. Great friendly and helpful staff. And even a little dingy bar smell as you enter - but it's just a nice light one that might take you back to all the dives you've visited in the past, like it did for me. Lmao The food was way above bar par - I had the pork sandwich which was excellent and only could be better by a little more pork in-between the buns. I had a little taste of all meals we ordered which included the garlic shrimp and Sriracha shrimp both were excellent. We preferred the garlic shrimp over the Sriracha one, but they were both excellent. The teriyaki chicken was also excellent as it was sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet and had a great grilled teriyaki flavor. The fries with my pork sandwich were excellent steak fries but also somewhat crispy and hot - perfectly cooked! They also came with a nice garlic aïoli to dip in. My mocktail was excellent, I think it was the painkiller without the rum; speaking of Rum, I think they have over 50 different kinds so if you're a fan, this is definitely the place to hang. Most expensive 1.5 oz shot was ~$40, so you won't loose your wallet in this place, like you might if you were enjoying fancy craft scotches or whiskeys. In fact, all the prices seemed quite reasonable and with a party of five having drinks, some of us having two, I think we had seven drinks total, and each had a "meal" the bill came out to only about 200 bucks! We will definitely be back to try some of the flaming drinks, but I highly suggest making reservations as this place can be packed. Don't even think you're going to drop in and sit at the bar because that space also requires a reservation. If you're solo, you can probably get a seat pretty quick, even without a reservation. ATM they are spooky decorated for Halloween, and that's just extra fun. Seating can be requested in a nice little low table Cove or a high table with barstools or a regular standard table with chairs so if you plan to come with a group and want a certain ambience, check it out in advance and ask for what you like the best. Of course there's always the bar, but that would not be good for large groups. I hope you enjoy this place as much as we did. Kids are welcome at the tables, but of course not at the bar. Personally, I would not take a kid under 18 in the evening as it is kind'a more of an adult scene at that time but that is just imo. Stowaway is a very chill and relaxed tiki bar. They have a great mix of classic and original tiki drinks all on a very approachable menu. My personal favorite is the Black Sands. The food menu is, in my opinion, bar food fare that's somewhat elevated and with a tiki spin. Their loco moco is one of my favorites and their fried rice is also delightful. They're very cool with working around allergen issues as well. Service is typically great. All the servers are friendly and know the menu well. Kitschy cute tiki themed bar tucked away in a nondescript Tustin strip mall. We checked into the Yelp wait-list while still at dinner at a restaurant in Westminster. So glad we did because we had fears we wouldn't make our reservation time and tried to get a different one but the new time we were given was for 2.5 hours later. We showed up a little late but was still able to use it. The drink menu is extensive, on it are many variations of what can be done to and with rum, also available are shots of other liquors if the tiki themed drinks don't tempt you. Especially fun was the Pina colada-like drink that automatically comes with a fire show. Our waitress was efficient and attentive, frequently swinging by to check on us. Our table was next to the pool table so we got some balls from the bar and played a couple rounds of cutthroat. Free pool, sweet! On a quest for trying Tiki bars, I stumbled upon Stowaway when visiting family in Irvine. A great place to imbibe and escape the summer heat. The atmosphere as a whole was fun, loved the tiki decorations. The servers were attentive and were able to accommodate a person in our party who wanted a fun non-alcoholic beverage. We ordered 4 drinks in total, all of which were delicious (depending on what you order, some of the drinks are strong too!). Dole Whip is a must order.
