I just ate the best Turkey Sandwich ! It's called the Sweet Wild Turkey Sandwich . A young lady, a junior in high school put it together . It's looked and tasted amazing ! I've at many and none compare ! I'm not sure why it's called wild Turkey . It said house roasted so I assumed butterball like thanksgiving but no it's 2 turkey breasts that they roast in-house then slice like deli meat . The bread made the sandwich ! My guest and I both ordered the same sandwich but with different bread . We ordered a breakfast pizza to go . I asked about the crust as we like fluffy crust Maureen said she would make it 16 inches instead of 18 but it was still very flat and thin . I'll pass on the pizza next time but the sandwiches are a must try ! I've Never spent $82 on convenience store food ! That was a first ! It was $16 a sandwich which is steep in this area but well worth it . We purchased 2 sandwiches , 1 large pizza , 2 beverages 2 desserts 1 bag of chips . No restrooms . Outhouse outside. 2 tables . I will be back to try the meatball sub ! read more

The proprietor is delightful, warm, and friendly to the tourists who stop by. I got a delicious breakfast sandwich to go. It was loaded with gooey cheese and loads of bacon. A greasy goodness! Seven of us showed up at closing time after climbing Blueberry Mountain and swimming in Rattlesnake Pool and Mo and her husband fed us beautifully. The Reuben was spot-on, the chicken salad sandwich excellent, the garden pizza glorious. We dined outside while they closed. A marvelous finish to a great day! read more

There aren't many choices in this neck of the woods, but with the Stow Corner Store you don't need any more. I had the Italian sandwich and the home baked bread made it first rate. My friend had the seafood chowder, and having grown up on the Chesapeake Bay, he proclaimed that it was the best he had ever had. A great little store run by great folks. Stow Corner Store is a tucked away place in Stow, Maine. When walking in, you instantly feel like you are walking into a cabin turned into a store, which is fitting due to scenic views all around. The Stow Corner Store offers a variety of options for people that live in Stow, or if you are just passing by. They provide a variety of food options, such as breakfast items, sandwiches, pizza, ice cream, etc. They also provide some Maine-made items like Carrabassett Coffee while also selling some other various drink items and alcoholic drinks. My husband and I went to visit his sister in Stow, and we decided to grab some pizza. We ended up getting the buffalo chicken pizza, which ended up being really good and large. My only reason for not giving this place 5 stars is due to the price. A six pack of beer and a large beer ended up costing us about $50, which is a little steep, however, they are able to inflate their prices due to being the only store conveniently around. In the past, my husband and I have also grabbed the barnyard breakfast burrito, which was also amazing. If you are passing by, the Stow Corner Store is definitely some place to take a look at. Their food is really well-made and good, just be cautious of their pricing. read more

Went to go visit my sister in Stow this weekend. After deciding to have a casual Friday night, we decided to pick up a pizza at the Stow Corner Store. It was about 7P when we pulled up and there was several other people at the store. We decided to order there as we were in no rush, however you can call ahead to place an order! The owners seemed to have a personal relationship with everyone that walked through the door including my sister. Both of the owners were chatting with all of us and sharing fun stories as we waited for our pizza. I felt extremely welcomed and like I was a regular who had been here many times. The store itself is very cute and quaint. It has all of your basic essential items. They have a great new selection of carrabassett coffee and even have some hard serve ice cream and a good variety of beer. We ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and it was absolutely delicious. I will say that the prices were rather high, however I guess this can be expected given it is the only place around! My sister also states that the husband owner is an amazing chef and that if there is ever a special to always give it a try! read more

I've wanted to try this place after driving past and seeing it packed with people, and after enjoying some ice cream and a lobster roll post-hike on Saturday we brought our other friends there on Sunday for an encore. The current covid-compliant system takes a little longer than I imagine in normal times, but the food is well done and worth the wait. Hidden Gem! This little store is a "must stop" destination when you're in the area on the border of New Hampshire & Maine. I can't say enough good things about it! Staff: friendly, fun, helpful! Food: Breakfast & lunch items are all prepared with fresh ingredients. Delicious combinations. And extremely generous portions. Eat there, or take a sandwich to go, and you'll be happy & satisfied. Store: cozy, inviting, well stocked and very clean/tidy. Great selection of beverages, wine and beer. Ice cream cones look delicious and enormous. I almost don't want to post this because I want to keep it all to myself. These folks work hard and deserve all the praise. When I come back for camping next year I will absolute make stopping by (2 or 3 times) a priority. It's an oasis! read more

We happened to be staying five minutes down the road from here. We decided to eat here because it was the only thing available that was close by...and we were pleasantly surprised. Food: The food was outstanding! We ate here dinner and breakfast and every single thing we had on the menu was excellent! The seafood chowder was the best! Atmosphere: this place has a cute country feel. Inside there's one communal table that is surrounded by the goodies for sale. The locals/guests are very friendly and make you feel as if you're eating in a family room. Outside: there are multiple tables with a view of the field and horses. Service: the store is ran by a lady and her husband, her and the staff are great and kind people. Value: the menu is definitely priced fairly and provides a good value. Visited Stow Corner Store the other day and they have the best food!! I had a chicken gyro and it was incredibly delicious. They also have an assortment of delicious fresh baked goods (best cookies ever) Highly recommend if you're in the area be sure to stop in for a bite to eat or treat. The staff is also the best. This is the best corner store I've come across in my travels. This is a MUST STOP ... the owner is the nicest lady. My partner and I stopped during a wicked rainstorm and she embraced us like she has known us her whole life. She offers gluten free options - which was unexpected but a delight as in gluten free. Everything is homemade and you can definitely tell when you take your first bite! It's a little slice of heaven. She also has basic items available as well: beer, wine, chips, diapers, ice, toilet paper, etc. I'm definitely coming back over and over!! read more

Stow Country Store was our favorite "hidden treasure" this summer! If you want a beautiful, scenic drive and outstanding food, head over to Stow, Maine, not far from the East Conway border. I had the Thai Peanut vegetable stir fry with my choice of either beef, chicken or shrimp. I chose the shrimp, which were abundant! I asked for broccoli along with the onions and peppers, served over a bed of rice. The meal was so delicious but I could only eat half so I took it to go! My husband had the steak and cheese sub and it was thick with scrumptious shaved steak and yummy cheese. This was by far the best steak and cheese sub he has ever eaten! I don't even know where to start because everything about this little roadside cafe is absolute perfection. After a weekend of camping up in White Mountain National Forest, my group of nine stopped into the cafe for a bite to eat. Craving a hot meal and quick service (we were hungry!), we were a bit apprehensive about the quiet outside of the cafe. However, the second we stepped into this adorable place, we knew we were in for a treat. Organic, hot coffee and freshly baked pastries were available immediately-- perfect for the more ravenous members of our hike. The rest of us ordered from the unbelievable hot menu. This entirely from-scratch menu included an award winning chilli, 8-cheese mac and cheese, sausage with sauerkraut and mustard, pizza, a seafood chowder, a Hungarian goulash, the best steak and cheese sandwich I've ever had, and much more. The food came out promptly despite our large group and we all cleaned our plates. I don't think we could've been more satisfied. The service and atmosphere really made us feel at home. Sitting around a large kitchen table, the owner joined us for a bit and asked about our adventures in the mountains and told us about the local going-ons. Beer and wine were available for retail (due to zoning laws, they cannot serve alcohol). Along with local goodies like popcorn toppings, chips, coffee, and more (though their homemade items really outshine their retail side). Ice cream was also available but we didn't have enough room for it (this time!). This mom-and-pop store (literally--he cooks, she runs the front with the biggest smile and open arms) is a must-stop if you're in the area. read more

Best ice cream frappes in the Oxford County-Carroll County area. They are a little pricey, but they have to be, considering that they are the only convenience store from Fryeburg to beyond Gilead, Maine (I'm assuming this). They've got a guestbook that you can sign so that people know that you've shown up at least once. It was my first time today going in (7/18/14), although we've passed it several times before. They sell a variety of homemade pastries (cookies and whoopie pies to name a couple), home cooked meals, candy, a variety of sodas and drinks, and have a full ice cream bar to satisfy your ice cream craving. The staff is extremely friendly and would love to see you return to their store. Although, I wish that they had a small gas station. They'd do well with a gas station in spring, summer, and fall. The store and gas station would be closed in the winter. read more

We stopped at The Corner Store for lunch today based on a recommendation from a friend. Very inviting from the outside, with a few picnic tables for outdoor dining. Another picnic table and bar stools faced the window for inside seating. The store was very clean and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The staff was very friendly and answered all our questions about the various menu items. Our party tried the steak & cheese sandwiches and I had the Pastrami Reuben. Everything was excellent! There was a generous amount of meat on each sandwich and they were delicious. Halfway through our meal another couple came in to try the award winning chili. We invited them to sit with us and we chatted a bit until we all went quiet while everyone enjoyed their meals. We were overwhelmed by the extensive dessert options, from canolis to ice cream. We were so full from our our lunches we opted to split one of the decadent oversized brownies. We agreed we'd come back to try some of the other menu items as well as indulge in some of the tempting desserts. What a find! read more

She literally saved us as we trekked through a blizzard, providing us directions to our destination, staying open way past hours for us to purchase food and goods and simply being the greatest human being on our week long adventure. Tired and hungry and expecting either just a slice of pizza or a sub we were surprised by a full menu of made from scratch entrees. Between the three of us we had the Reuben sandwich, chilli (with four meats and four cheeses!) and the french onion soup; all of which were excellent. I stop here every time I head into Evan's Notch for hiking, and it's always worth being a little late getting to the trailhead. The meals are great, ranging from simple country store fare (egg & cheese sandwich, steak bomb, etc.) to some more creative things that I can't remember off the top of my head. And between the baked goods, Carrabassett Coffee, ice cream, and random goodies for sale, I usually have plenty to hold me over for the hike or the ride home (usually both). read more

We hammered back Steak & Cheese Bomb (loaded) and Meatball Sub, and the kids had homemade Mac n' Cheese and believe it or not, Seafood Chowder. We chased it down with some hard earned ice cream. The food was outstanding and the picnic tables outside was a perfect end to our day in the notch. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the store to anyone...it's only a short cruise up 113 from Fryeburg and well worth the trip. read more
