This is a honest auto shop that also happens to be down the road from where we live. Convenient when your car isn't working and you need somewhere nearby to bring said car to, ASAP. A lot of auto stores give off that misogynist vibe but I didn't get one here. They call you throughout the day to tell you exactly what is going on with your car and to let you know if they need to keep it longer, if they are about to do another repair (as opposed to repairing things without telling you and then slapping you with a bill you were not prepared for). I don't want to hope we will be back, lol...but if we do have another car problem, yes, we will come back here again. read more

Was there yesterday to get two tires mounted. They did an excellent job overall. Gerald was the technician and he was great. The wheels were perfect, no scratches, and clean. I'm pretty fussy about quality work and I certainly received it. Could clean up the shop a bit. Sort of overgrown. LOL. Pretty easy for most shops to do a half-assed job, not Stouts. If I could give negative stars I would. I sent my wife and 19-year-old daughter to get a car checked out that she had just bought. After a 2 day delay, they finally got to it. When they wanted to go over the report. They asked if she needed to go back to school and learn to could read and write. They were more than unprofessional and rude. They were borderline profane. I do not expect them to be around much longer treating people like this. read more

I had been using them at their US 19 Belleair location for about 3 years with good results; up until last week. They have really taken a turn for the worse. I am now looking for a new repair shop. Last week, I brought my Mini Cooper in because the system indicated it was not recharging the battery. Stouts tells me it needs a new alternator. Expensive, but I say OK. Days pass, I call and they tell me that they ordered the wrong one various times and that the correct one is now double the cost they quoted me. So instead, they are ordering a rebuilt one to keep the cost down. Next day they call me to say that the boss says they can not guarantee the rebuilt part at all because they had taken a hosing on a previous one that didn't last, that they had to make good on. So, they would sell it to me and install it, but with no guarantee. I said no way and had the car towed to the dealer. Turns out it was not even the alternator at all, but a completely different much cheaper part. What was the worst of all was the the double talk that I received through this week long process. read more

My engine light came on in my car on a Friday and I wasn't able to take it in until Monday. I walked in to Stouts and they informed me it would be about 30 minutes for them to see what the problem was. After they checked my car, they let me know what needed to be done and said it could be finished in about an hour or so. I waited in the waiting room and sure enough - services were completed in about an hour. I took my car to Tires Plus first and they would have charged me $80 just to run diagnostics - whereas at Stouts, they told me what needed to be done without a charge. I had no problems here and will be back for sure if further problems with my car arise! read more

Fix my front brakes everything seemed good until the AC fan motor starting vibrating and making a very loud sound. So I pulled the fan motor and found a knob in the fan. So I went and asked stouts, are there any knobs inside the duct work? They said "no" . So how would a knob get in my fan motor? They didn't have any ideas and said it just a coincidence that it happen right after they worked on my car. So if you don't mind really bad coincidences, then this is the place for you. read more

We took our cars there for oil changes. The last time they called us and said that whoever did the last oil change cross thread the plug. THEY did the last oil change. They tried a larger plug and made it worse. Then they quoted us over $500 for a new oil pan because THEY screwed up the plug. They were very rude on top of that. DO NOT use Stouts! a little over a month ago Stouts's Auto broke my windshield while working on the air conditioner for my Kia 2005 Amanti (you guess how they did that) now a month later the windshield developed a crack from the lower corner and up in a "C" Shape. I took it back and Steve agreed that it looked like a stress crack since there are NO impact marks, said he had seen that happen before and he would order a new windshield. That was 7-11-16 I called today 7-15-16 and Steve said there is no warranty since it is a windshield they got from a salvage yard. My problem with their now refusal to replace it is the fact that the should be warrenting the repair of damage they did to my car and not on that particular piece of glass read more

I used to go to stouts for all my auto repairs, that is until my last visit. My air conditioner was not blowing cold, the man working told me he would run some tests. After the tests were run he said i needed a ac recharge, as well as several other things not related to the air conditioning. I spent over $400 that day getting my car "fixed", I left happy with my ac blowing cold...a few hours later my ac was NO longer blowing cold. I went in the next day to ask the technician what had happened with the recharge, he told me I needed more work done to my car so he could find out what was going on. Stout's was recommended to me by the guy that towed my car: said they have been in business for a long time and did great work, so since I live close by I had my car towed to Stout's for repair. I was told that the diagnostics would be free (it even said so on their sign) yet I was still charged more than $70 just for diagnostics. Needless to say after the $400+ repair bill I picked the car up the next day. Once I got out of the car I noticed that one of my headlights was out. REALLY? They made sure to charge me for something (diagnostics) that I was supposed to get for free but weren't even diligent enough to notice a light was out? Anyway, I took care of that myself. Later that day I'm driving to Tampa and suddenly my car starts misfiring in the middle of the interstate! I managed to get home without causing an accident and the next day I took the car back to Stout's and after they "worked on it" again and suggested additional costly repairs the car is still having the same problem. I'm hesitant to take the car back there again. Part of me feels like I need to see this through and get what I paid for, but the other part of me is terrified about what's going to magically break next while in their care. I don't want to think that things are being done to my car to create job security for these guys but the thought has crossed my mind. read more

They called me several times to update me on the progress and what costs would be incurred, if I chose to move forward. They gave me options. Car was ready by afternoon. We found a rare gem in the auto mechanics world. From a friend's recommendation, we brought in our screeching going forwards and reverse, Toyota Sequoya. They found shot rear brake pads, calipers, and rotors. They quoted us a discounted, very fair price. No upselling on a realm of stuff we didn't need, no diagnostic charge threats if you don't let us fix it now, no death scares- your car will explode on the highway if you refuse, no coercion, no chauvinism, no oily sales talk. JUST REAL. These guys finished out with solid, excellent work. Our Toyota feels new, and quiet! And like answered prayer, our angel mechanic removed a large dent from our bumper! Stout's found the actual issue (which was different than what the dealership had told us), and repaired everything for under $300. I went to have my Codes read at "Stout's Automotive",on Belcher Rd after they had told me to bring it in a couple weeks ago while having a small repair done on my other car. I was looking for a new place to service my cars.This place was only 1 mile from my house. I thought I might have found "my place" for our cars maintenance....NOT! I am extremly loyal to my mechanic and figure I will be treated right in return.Present one is to far away after move. The "whole world" reads "codes" for free, even Auto Parts stores. STOUTS insisted I make an appointment (OK - FYI - 2 min to read codes) then said "We will have to charge you for a half hour or an hour diagnostic time" To read codes? I have my own (older) code reader just does not work with Mercedes Benz. (Only takes 2 minutes and they don't even have to bring car into garage) Counter Guy was rude and I am never going back. I waited to I got home to cancel Apt I was so upset. I take care financially of both my 2 cars and both my sons maintenance on their cars. I was looking for a good mechanic closer to home to use that is reasonable (and friendly). Counter guy was rude and being greedy cost them a lot of prospective business. If they tried to pull that on me.... I sugest Ladies, do not bring your car there! They will tell you they are charging "Diagnostic time". Go to Pep Boys or anybody else such as O'reilly, Tire Kingdom, pretty much anyone that services or sells car parts if your "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON!" (or other warning light) Charging for that is unheard of this day in age! Back 20 years ago when code readers were $1000 I could see it. BUT now you can buy them for well under $100 or around a $100 to read MB and all imports'. I would buy another but not when everybody advertises doing it for free. I saved at least $100 for an "hour diagnostic time" by going to Starkey Automotive 1 block up from Ulmerton off of Starkey. Nice folks there also! read more
