We were greeted kindly and given a key. The inside of the hotel did not match the classic style of the vintage home. Every door in the upstairs hallway was a commercial fire door, so it resembled an office environment, not a vintage home. We asked for an extra blanket, as we like a cool room for sleeping in. At 11pm, the A/C unit turned off until 6am the next morning (on a timer), so we didn't sleep well at all. The food the next morning was okay: poached eggs, and another course. I couldn't see how farm fresh (from website description) came into the picture, but the cook was nice and gave good description of what she was serving. We didn't like how the website overplays the actual hotel experience.

It is obvious that this property prides itself on customer service. They were very accommodating to my request for a late check-out because my son's windsurfing lesson was delayed due to wind conditions. We appreciated their flexibility and understanding very much. Our room and the entire property were immaculately clean. The hallways were wide and well-lit. Our bathroom and sleeping area were spotless and bright. The bathroom was well-stocked with towels and toiletries. The beds, pillows, and linens were super comfortable. The breakfast area was also neat and clean. There is an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as a gym, water bottle filling station, and small market. The daily free breakfast had a wide, varied selection, and the food was delicious - somehow so much more so than the usual free hotel breakfast. The afternoon's warm cookies were plentiful. One afternoon, there was even a beautiful bowl of fresh cherries offered. The hotel itself was quiet, but the traffic on the nearby highway was loud at night. However, the hotel supplies free earplugs and white noise making fans to help you sleep. The staff seems to think of everything to make their guests feel at home! The attention to detail is to be commended. I highly recommend the Hampton Inn and Suites Hood River. I look forward to returning in the future!

It's hard to add the details of the room into the review because the rooms are fine and well apportioned, but the location and access to the outdoors is some of the best in the state. My two small dogs may have had an even better time than I did. Perfect for an active getaway or a true hunker down like we did this month. Easy walk or bike to downtown and waterfront park.
