If you're interested, RV spots have: Water, Electricity, Sewer We were here from Sunday to Tuesday, 8/2 to 8/4: This is a great place for people planning on parking their RVs and taking off during the day. It's not really a great place to stay and chill all day long. It's right next to the Hood River Bridge (although it's $2 to get across then another $2 to return). We were in site 6 and want to know what my view was? TRAFFIC, oh, and a beautiful gas station. I had to laugh. I picked this place because it was near a lot and it received pretty good reviews and honestly, the breweries were closed in Hood River due to COVID so technically could have bypassed this one. Speaking of COVID, the guy in the office nor the 2 customers inside wore masks. That did not make me happy. Please wear a mask! We do it for you, please do it for us. Basically, your campsite choices, if you have an RV, are traffic noise or train noise. Honestly, I would have preferred train noise. There was a spot open the entire time I was there and I asked if I could have it and was told no. Meh! I really didn't pay much since I received a discount with Good Sam membership. I paid under $40. so that's a plus. I guess I need to say the good because I have been cranky...blame it on the traffic noise. ;) - The place is clean. - You're supposed to have wifi access although I was never able to connect. - We had a decent size grass area with a picnic table. Considering the one next to us (#7?) didn't have any grass, this was a blessing. - We didn't have a dog but saw that they had a good size dog area. If you are tent camping they have a nice area that's under a bunch of trees. Granted, you are right next to the tent area. It looked so serene. Honestly, I told my husband that we should just bring our chairs and sleep there. Really, our site wasn't as noisy if we had our air conditioner on all night. ;) In the tent grass area there is a horseshoe pit. Yes, I played and wasn't that terrible. Just try and get deeper into the park and not on the street near the entrance. It will probably make a difference.

Next thing we know this blue-haired fat troglodyte comes running and screeching, saying we "didn't have a reservation and didn't pay," and would give us three minutes to come to the office or she would call the cops. My wife said, "we're winging it!" We didn't call or check before coming and she aggressively came over and confronted us. She wouldn't listen to me when I said I was looking for an employee or the front office. I got upset with her behavior which was totally uncalled for and very RUDE. We decided then to go back across the bridge and find a local campground, Viento State Park, arriving at night which I never like to do. This unfriendly employee working at this park put us at risk by not being accommodating, and setting us out on the roads after dark. Avoid this place.

It was a nice property but the sites were close together and you have to have a roll of quarters to shower. One quarter buys you 1.5 min of hot water. Otherwise it was centrally located for all the things we wanted to see such as Multnomah Falls and the Sunshine Mill Winery in the Dalles. Since we stayed at several other campgrounds which allowed free hot showers we were a little disappointed about this setup.

I will stay here when rooms are booked at McMenamins and since I have a trailer, why not. I personally like this place. It's clean, it's quiet, and the people are so kind (employees and residents). I love watching the people walking by with their dogs. I feel like it's a doggy parade. I do appreciate that everyone follows the leash rule and keeps their doggies on leash when walking them. It just makes it safe for other dogs. We have stayed on the creek side only but I may venture to the river side next time. One the creek side it is quiet. I know the river side is closer to the I-84 so I am curious how much louder it will be. I guess I may find out this summer. Even in the heat of summer this was a cool oasis, and the store has a souvenirs and a stocked store in case you're skipping the locks or the town for the day. The pool wasn't huge was clean, and the late afternoon tree cover kept us from getting sunburned. A few adirondacks and loungers were available, and the shallow depth made it kid-friendly. Laundry facilities were not the most updated, wood paneling and all, but again the facilities were clean and came with laundry vending and a change machine. This KoA could be a journey stop or a mini-vacation, and it was a refreshing stop with everything we needed. We'd come back.

Things to keep in mind when considering this location: This RV park is in the middle of nowhere. There is a little mom and pop's grocery store, nothing else. Make sure you have plenty of gas. There is a gas station in Moro, another one in Shankio. It is mostly permanent residents. It appeared as if space 14 was the only space not occupied by permanent residents. A concern I had was the curve just before the RV park. If a car or semi lost control coming around that curve our trailer could be potentially be hit. My a-hole spouse said, it wasn't a concern for him. Lots of highway noises BUT it got quiet a little after midnight. Spaces are grass Parking lot gets muddy. There was a HEAVY rain the night we stayed. Restroom older but clean. Restrooms keep locked but facing on to the highway 97. Dog friendly. No dog area, we walk our dogs back corner of the lot. Would I recommend it? Sure if you need a one night stay.
